Im so upset that I have to wait for the sequel because I NEED THE NEXT ONE NOW! When I first saw the cover I thought “I have to have this book” It just looks like a bunch of paranormal awesomeness and boy was it!

Witches.. YES Witches, Irish folk legends, five Kingdoms in Ireland, the royal bloodline that had amazing magic. A girl from two magical bloodlines.

Finn is a normal girl trying to get through life until her mother goes missing. She also learns that she is a Witch with power people want to use. Finn Learns she’s part of a prophecy, destined to awaken an ancient power that hasn’t existed for centuries

I loved the writing style in this novel. C.E has an enticing way of keeping you up all hours of the night, not wanting to sleep, not wanting to eat! the usual stuff when you’re so engraved into an epic book.

The book was fast paced and I loved Finn as a character! she’s brave a bit sassy and not at all one dimensional! Also Eamon! he was arrogant but such a swoon worthy character! I loved their Love/Hate relationship! I also loved the lack of heavy romance in this book it was refreshing! Also Neely and Declan are literally my new favourite characters! They made me feel all gooey inside! just adorable characters.

If you guys are looking for an awesome refreshing, exciting, fantasy witchy book I would highly recommend it!

When I first started to read this book I was a bit unsure how I felt about it… Finn is a normal clumsy teenage girl who like most of us doesn’t (or in my case didn’t) really favour high school. She has one close friend Tyler who is the dreamy jock guy who seems to have a crush on Finn and she hasn’t noticed.. very cute I must admit! Then comes along Eamon and things are all about to change, believe me.

At first I felt the book wasn’t for me, Finn comes across naïve for a 16 year old and the way her and Eamon act with each other is ridiculously childish (they are meant to 16 not 6). So I gritted my teeth and I read on learning about Finn’s abilities and what she really is along with her past I found myself captivated.. I could not put the book down.

I really liked the whole magic concept and learning about the Irish heritage, am I the only one who was actually reading the parts of the elders to myself in an Irish accent? Probably lol.

There are five families the O’neill’s, the O’Connor’s, the Cavanaghs, the McLoughlins and lastly my favourite The O’briens. They all bring their own speciality to the Coven which I found pretty interesting and I found myself wanting to find out more about each of them. My mind kept going back however to Finns father…

Finn grew on me, she is the only girl out the 5 teenagers but I feel that only made her more determined. I started to love her witty and confident way as she grew as a person. I also felt sorry for her, everyone kept thinking they should be making decisions for her when they weren’t actually giving her the answers that she really wanted. Eamon was blowing hot and cold that much it was making me frustrated never mind Finn!

My favourites have to be Neely and Declan. Declan is Finn’s cousin and he just comes across so innocent and pure, then you have Neely who is very confident and laid back, you can genuinely feel how caring he is. The both of them melted my heart and now I definitely have a little soft spot for them.

I would recommend this book, the start is a bit touch and go but honestly stick with it because it becomes a little gem.

“First Rule of the coven is-“
“We don’t talk about the coven?” I joked, but my Fight Club reference was not well received.

Thank you to the Author/Publisher for my copy in return for an honest review.

I received this ebook in exchange of a honest review and this does not affect my opinion on this review.

I wasn’t expecting to like this book so much. When I read the synopsis I was a little cautious because it has been a while that I have read about witches. But I was dead wrong and I'm glad to say that.

Finn is a teenage girl who lives pretty much a normal life, until she discovers that she is not just a normal teenager. She is a witch. She is smart, strong, persistent, courageous and fearless. I also find her to be a little sarcastic sometimes ( which I like). When her mother goes missing, her world goes upside down.

Eamon is sent to her school and same neighborhood to protect her from the ones who wants her powers. That's when they start to look for her mother and things don't go so well. He is also stubborn, mysterious and a little bit serious.

They go to Maine and she meets part of her family (that she did not know she had) and other families of warlocks. My favorite male character is Neeve.
There, in Broadhaven, an isolated city, she will train and learn how to awaken and control the powers she recently discovered she possesses. Meanwhile, she struggles with mysterious dreams that are not only dreams, but also memories involving some people from her past, people she didn't recall ever meeting.

I loved this book. I would have read in one sitting if time wasn't against me. The pace is fast, which I love. There isn't much romance but there is the tension of it. The characters grow throughout the book. And there is a mystery behind everything, leaving Finn without knowing who to trust. The story is amazing. However, I need to be honest and say there are a few things that left me with unanswered questions in my head, and it's not the kind of question that it can be answered on the next book. I also caught some small grammar mistakes.
I wish I could have seen more of Finn's powers but I think I will have the chance to see much of them on the sequel. I loved that C.E. Dimond added a glossary at the end of the book saying how is the pronunciation of the names of some characters. I just wish that list could have been in the opening of the book (so I wouldn't say the name wrong through the whole book), but maybe that is just the kindle version and its not really a problem. I was even laughing at myself with my pronunciation lol.
I caught myself loving this book and it was so worth that I can overlook the things I felt missing. The end is good, gave a lot of material for the next book, and I am counting the days to read it.
Loved it!

I want to thank the author for giving me the opportunity to read and review her amazing book.

“Remember that even de darkest minds can be overcome with compassion. Evil is made, not born.”

A lost legacy: Awakening is the first installment in the Lost Legacies series. Finn Adams thought she was living a normal life, until one day everything she once believed turned out a lie.

Wow, this book was not what I expected! I remember getting into the story with not knowing what to expect but C.E. DIMOND, you blew me away!

This story didn’t start with instant action but gradually progressed with each chapter. We start out with Finn being a normal teenager but noticing strange things happening. When a stranger comes in town, she has to run from the danger that’s after her. Throughout the story we find out everything together with the characters making this book a page – turner. Every chapter is filled with another piece of the puzzle.

What really took me in was how perfect everything fell together. There was everything in the story, that blend together the way it should. The way Finn and Eamon’s relationship was progressing was just the perfect amount to not get us off the main focus of the story but still giving us something to hold on to. I couldn’t put this book down because every page holds your attention.

I recommend this book to everyone who loves a good action packed story with a badass heroine. Go check it out!

Fionnuala "Finn" is just a normal 16 year old girl, who pretty much keeps to herself. It's just her and her mother. Father died when she was 3. Keeps to herself and is often left in her own company.

Enter Eamon. New guy in town. Keeps his distance at first then suddenly takes an interest in Finn, being her "protecter" of sorts.

In an instant everything changes for Finn, her mother is gone. She's been having these unusual dreams, is able to stop a glass falling from midair!!!

Finn is no ordinary girl.

Finn discovers the life that she knew isn't real and soon uncovers who she really is... A witch and a powerful one at that.

Her power puts her life in danger and with the help of Eamon and a few other male witches they do what they can to train and prepare her.

Enjoyable read, I love a good witch story.

I'm left with a lot of unanswered questions. So I'm excited for book 2 - A Lost Legacy - Descending.

If you are a fan of The Beautiful Creatures series I would recommend this read.

I loved the writing style in this novel because it was easy to read and had a way of keeping you up to read more and more.

I loved all the characters especially Finn and Neely. Finn has a strong character and she was like the center of the attention, while Neely was so sweet and so caring to Finn. I do loved Eamon too! His personality was difficult to guess. His mood changes all the time. But his relationship with Finn was totally adorable. They were cute! The romance in this novel was so refreshing. You'll like it. I hated Cormac soooo much. I hate him because he always bother Finn and (almost) always appeared in Finn's dream.

Overall, I loved this book because it was amazing! I can't wait until the next book comes out! I want to know more about the story ☺

3.5 ‘Finn’ Stars

Finn has turned sixteen and strange things have started to happen. Time moves faster or stands still. She dreams of familiar yet not people. A strange boy named Eamon shows up. Finn’s mother goes missing and they are both on the run. I always like Irish folk/myths and legends.

I really enjoyed the back story of the five Kingdoms in Ireland that once were and the five families from the royal bloodline that had magic.

Finn doesn’t know who and what she is and she learns to harness her powers. She is stronger than the sons of the other for families because she comes from two magical bloodlines and everyone wants to use her but no one wants to trust her because of her father Cormac.

So if you hadn’t guessed already then this is Young Adult not usually for me but I liked some of the twists and turns and to be honest Finn doesn’t really use her brain otherwise she could have figured some things out for herself. Now there was a point where I nearly gave up and this is because Finn and Eamon were so childish with one another. I mean come on you are teenagers not in Kindergarten.

It is really important to mention that this book has a cliffhanger that it is not a standalone and how many books will be in the series.

Finn Adams thinks she is just a normal girl, until one day, her mother goes missing. With no help from the police, Finn finds herself in the company of Eamon, the new boy in the area.

From the beginning, Finn doesn't trust him and wants the truth. But when she gets the truth it isn't what she is expecting. She is a witch, but there is more to it than she thinks.

I really enjoyed this book. I wanted to keep reading on, because I was desperate to find out the ending. I loved everything about it, the story, it's setting and the characters. From the moment, Eamon mentioned Broadhaven, I thought that it sounded like an interesting place. I liked how Finn got to meet the other families and how they kept records at each house. Finn's dreams, I thought were interesting as well and I like how you got to see parts of the past and the present.

At first, I couldn't take to Finn but as the story went on I grew to like her more. It was the same with Eamon, because I found him a little arrogant at the beginning.

Finn and Eamon relationship, developed very good I thought. I liked how it didn't just happen. It seemed at first that they hated each other as they kept arguing and avoiding on another.

I liked how there was a glossary at the beginning which tells you how the names are pronounced.

If you like to read stories about witches then I recommend this.

I received a copy of this book from the author. My review is honest and my own opinions.

So there I was, ready to buy the sequel to this book and continue reading the second I finished this, only to realize it only comes out this summer. Damn it!
This was such a wonderful story that had me at the first page. I love the witch element, it had been a long time since I've last read a book with witches.
I desperately need the next book and more romance.
This is definitely a perfect book to set up a great series. I'm excited.

I'm not usually a big fan on books about witches.. I don't know why. This novel did a good job though, I wasn't bored. There was enough action to keep me reading and the main characters weren't irritating. I actually liked them and felt invested in them. I'm curious to see how everything goes on the next book because it left on a pretty dramatic note!!!

I received this ebook in exchange of a honest review and this does not affect my review at all.
I was conscious of reading this book because I have not read about witches for so long. But I am glad that I took the chance and read this book.

I like the fact that the book has a glossary for all the names in the book. I was trying out names before I started reading and this helps a lot when reading. Some names were unfamiliar to me so the glossary came in handy. It's a very cool thing that you can not find in many books, this is something that C.E. Dimond impressed me with.

Finn is a normal teenager and lives a normal life, her dad passed away when she was three years old and her mum is now taking care of business so she is alone at home most of the times. She only has one friend, Tyler, who she later on finds that he has a crush on her. All is normal until one night Finn's mum does not come home. With her mum missing her neighbor Eamon comes over and stays with her, that's when she finds out that she is a witch and adopted. Both of her real parents were witches. Throughout the story Finn was strong and sarcastic, that's what I loved about her. No matter how bad the situation is, she still makes sarcastic comments. Her powers are KICKASS !!!! I wish I had her powers.

Eamon was sent to watch over and protect Finn. He was a new student at Finn's school and the way they met the first time was hilarious. Eamon is very mysterious, he did not talk as much as I wanted in the book. But he is strong and super sweet to Finn, he also protects her. And that trick that he did with his ID was awesomeeee, hahhahahahah I wish we can do it in real life.
The reason why Eamon was sent to watch Finn is because of her biological father, he is pure evil and he wants Finn's power.

Together Finn and Eamon escape from a bunch of people trying to grab Finn. They get in a car not knowing where they are heading. Somehow they get to meet some of Finn's family and they stay over. Where Finn is then trained to control her powers and how to use them.

Up the airy mountain,
And down the rushy glen
We daren't go a hunting
For fear of little men
Wee folk, good folk
Trooping all together
Green coat, red cap
with a white owl teeth
-William Allingham
This poem fits the book so good, its mysterious yet funny at the same time. I read this book in one day, I stayed 3 hours straight reading the book because I was so into it, that I did not want to put the book down. The book is fast paced and as I said very mysterious to the point that I did not know who to trust. I loved all the characters. I just wished there was more romance between Finn and Eamon, they're so cute together and the way Finn makes Eamon laugh and annoys him.

I would like to thank C.E. Dimond for giving me the opportunity to read this book. It was a wonderful read, I recommend to all the goodreaders who love witches books.

I received this e-book copy from the author in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are 100% my own. Thank you to C. E Diamond for allowing me the opportunity to read this.
This is my first witch read ever, besides from Harry Potter and I’m glad to say that I thoroughly enjoyed it. It was a quick and easy read and I found myself attached to some characters.
Finn grows to become independent and she learns to adapt really well, considering her situation. Finn and Eamon’s relationship in the beginning was amusing yet childish but it reminds me of the playful banters between my friends and me. Over time they gradually became closer and I could see more to Eamon then what he was willing to show. He’s definitely made it to my fictional boyfriends list. He’s protective and concerned about the wellbeing of his close friends, and in my mind, his perfect. I think that Neely is my favourite character because he’s able to just lighten the atmosphere, even when it’s tense and he comes across as a caring and laid-back person.
There are five families in this witchery world, the O’Neill’s, the O’Conner’s, the O’Brien’s, the Cavanagh’s and the McLoughlin’s. I liked how the families’ histories are intertwined with each other’s because they all grew up together. There’s still so much mystery surrounding the five families, and I’m starting to question Izzy’s death and Finn’s mother’s necklace etc. I found it hard distinguishing who was from what family but I still want to know more about the five families, and I’m especially curious about Finn’s parents and Eamon’s father. There’s just something about them that sparks a feeling of curiosity in me. I liked how we were able to see Finn’s dreams and how she slowly realised they were someone’s memories.
I think this novel was lacking in setting because I couldn’t visualise the places very well, except maybe the bridge of Boston. It was fast-paced and filled with actions and I loved learning about Finn’s past and family history. Overall, the novel was well written, easy to read and intriguing. I would definitely recommend this to anyone who wants a quick and easy read or something about witches.
I really want to know more about what happens and I hate how the ending left us wondering. I seriously need to read the rest of the series and get my unanswered questions answered. I’m glad this was my first witch read. I thought I would dislike any reads about witches because they never seem to interest me but how wrong I was! Thanks to C. E. Diamond, I’ll be reading more novels involving witches in the future.

Full Review:
A Lost Legacy: Awakening by C. E. Diamond is the story of Finn, a once normal girl that is suddenly uprooted from her mundane life and tossed into the world of warring witches, good and evil and long lost royalty. As the first book in the A Lost Legacy series, one would expect for this book to lay down the foundation for the series and set up not only a basic knowledge of what is going on but also set up the questions that future books will answer and it does, sort of. There are a few holes in the plot that I am still confused about, but it did a decent job of setting it up so I didn’t have too much trouble following.

I have to admit, I was originally intrigued by the book because I am a total sucker for the ‘normal girl finds out she is actually a total BA’ style YA books. While I did enjoy this book and am looking forward to the next one, I am a bit disappointed and was hoping for more development and detail. We find out that Finn is not your average girl, she is in fact someone very unique and special, perhaps one of the most powerful witches ever born but has been hidden away from her magic and the only real family she has. Awesome, now we get to see the cool training and get to follow her as she blows up stuff and kicks total butt right? Not really. The book is lacking a lot of the cool descriptive details you want to see and feel when watching your heroine grow. It touches on her training etc but we don’t really get to experience anything with her.

So this mysterious stranger that has entered town and began the abrupt upheaval of Finn’s normal life, who is he? Well, unfortunately this is another area that I really was hoping for more..well everything. Eamon is his name, and brooding is his game. Well, sort of. One thing that I always enjoy is the electricity that is built up between two people, even if they hate each other, that undeniable pull that sucks me in and keeps me fueled ( even if it gets boring, repetitive or just drags on), is my favorite part. It really didn’t exist in this book. Our tall, dark and handsome really isn’t built up as a swoon worthy object of affection. He is just there. The romantic aspect of their relationship felt bland. I am intrigued by the plot and I want to know if something does develop between them but it isn’t because of their dynamic. It is because I enjoyed the heroine and her spirit.

There are a lot of questions that aren’t really answered in this book. Most of it actually is sort of given basic acknowledgment but not fully explored. At risk of divulging too much, I won’t list all the questions I still have. Just know, even though this book does a decent job of explaining some things, it skims over a lot of them. But in it’s defense it is part of a series so they very well may be answered at a later time.

Despite the things that I wanted and didn’t get ( I am a needy reader can’t you tell?) I did read this book easily and I am looking forward to the next one. I didn’t get super involved so I am not cliffhangry and won’t be stressing until it is released.

A Lost Legacy: Awakening - Finn, is a normal teen trying to make it through high school, when she meets, Eamon, who seems to have an eye for her. To make matters even more strange, he moved in next door. When Finn comes home one afternoon, her mother has gone missing. Who is this mysterious boy that suddenly can’t let Finn out his sight? He knows more than he is letting on. What happened to Finn’s mother? The twists keep coming as Finn learns she is a witch and a rather powerful one. Escaping the clutches of a wicked coven lands the pair in Broadhaven, Maine. There she discovers her family’s past and how she is destined for a battle of good versus evil. Can Finn trust the ones trying to help her? Can Eamon protect those he loves? Sometimes we have to make a sacrifice.
I NEED the second book now! I was so immersed in this story as I was reading. The title does really play to events in the book. I felt that I was right there with Finn, in her room, in the car, at school. C.E. Dimond has a wonderful and fluid writing style that kept me turning the page. I very much enjoyed the geography of the story. Finn ends up in Maine (my home state). I had a bit deeper connection to that part of the book. One of my favorite moments was when Finn and Eamon look out over the Atlantic. All I could think of was the first time that I went to Acadia National Park. It was last summer that my college roommate and I hiked the Beehive (Google it). When we reached the top, there are no words to describe the beauty of the Atlantic ocean before you. It is vast, ever reaching, and humbling. While I may see the ocean every day, but in Southern Maine, it is more beaches than cliff faces - beautiful still, but not the same.
The majority of the characters names are Irish. Which is a hint for things to come! Dimond provides a pronunciation guide in the beginning which is fantastic! I find that much more helpful, than getting to the end of a novel and discovering I had been mispronouncing a characters name. A map is also provided to explain the provinces that are important to the story and the history Finn discovers she is apart of. I think those elements add more depth to the story and allow the reader to get a better grasp as to where they are. I just had a couple wishes with this novel: first, that we got a little more of the relationship between Finn and Eamon. I loved the scenes that were in the book but I want more! I am holding out hope for the second one to bring them closer. Second, I wish it was longer! When I finished the book I was ready to pick up the second and keep on going. It just goes to show that I need more of A Lost Legacy! I recommend this book (series in the making) to anyone looking for an exciting and new magical adventure.

C.E. Dimond is an Irish-Canadian Young Adult author. In May 2016, a novella, Wandering from Eamon’s point of view is to be released and in the summer of 2016, the second installment of the A Lost Awakening series, Descending is set to be released!

I received a free e-copy of this book from the author in exchange of an honest review.

I would like to thank C.E Dimond for letting me read her book. It was fantastic and I loved every word of it. This book is about a girl named Finn who is your normal girl…until her mother goes missing and she finds out that she is a witch. She gets transported to another place to learn more about her powers and everything that concerns her.

I actually liked reading this book. It picked up pace from page 1 and I was hooked. I loved Finn. I loved her childishness, her boldness, her selflessness and her personality. I loved how Dimond built the characters. Each of them were different and had some story to them that explained why they were the way they were.I also really liked how we see the vulnerability of the characters. I really liked how Dimond was not too quick to make Finn mature. Usually when a main character finds they are not normal, they go full on mature mode. I loved how we got to see childishness in Finn, however, there were some parts where she made important decisions and they showed that she was maturing.

The pace of this book was nice; I liked it. I just found that the book was so short! I want more! Especially after that ending. Oh My! But I will talk about that ending later. For now, lets discuss the writing. I utterly enjoyed Dimond’s writing. It was easy to understand and just really nice to read. I really liked how Dimond explained things in the book without it sounding like a history lesson; like when Finn was learning about her heritage and powers. I loved every second of this book and I really think you should read it.

Yes. Yes there was a smidge of romance in this book and yes..I loved that smidge of romance. It was enough to make me swoon a little heheh. Oh I almost forgot! The ending!! That was one heck of an ending. It left me craving for the next book the way one craves chocolate. That ending seriously left me shocked. Another thing I loved about the ending is the way the author built the story to that point. The ending wasn’t dull. The events leading to the ending were sad and it just showed Finn and who she is and what she stands for.

I really loved reading this book. It was a really quick read. There were some questions unanswered that I would love to be answered in the next books. I loved everything about this book. I would recommend this book to anyone and everyone. So go and get this book and read this book and yeah…. Toodles! I hope you found my review helpful.

In the entirety of my reading and reviewing career (so to say), I'm greatly pleased to say that C.E. Dimond is one of the most talented authors I've had the privilege to come across. She knows how to institute memorable characters. She knows how to construe an intriguing story line. AND (most of all), she dutifully keeps the plot moving with suspense and action. With every second I was reading I didn't want to put the book down in case I missed a crucial, thrilling moment.

Finn Adams is suddenly ripped from the confinements of her reality when a mysterious boy, Eamon, enters her school as well as neighbourhood, and her mother seemingly goes missing. With the guiding hand of Eamon, Finn soon discovers that she's a witch - a part of the Coven of an ancient Irish magic bloodline. Finn is the only female full-blood Magic witch left, making her a target of possession for her power-hungry father Cormac. Does Cormac succeed in getting what he wants, or does Eamon and the elders keep Finn safe? Read the book to find out!

And just a little fan girl moment over the relationship between Eamon and Finn. Eamon is so protective from the start of the novel and it's actually so attractive (even though he seems like an asshole to hide his true feelings of love for Finn). Finn returns with sarcastic remarks even though deep down they both know they have feelings for each other.

Amazing! Spectacular! This is a book I wouldn't mind reading again

4.5/5 stars... Honest opinion

The book began with our main character Finn who for better words is a loner expect for her only friend Tyler who is far from shy or an introvert. Soon we meet a new student whose not from their town and like all new students he is handsome and mysterious. Soon after meeting each other you felt the vibe (you know the vibe where you live to hate the person but eventually it's couplings)

I would have like the info on Finn backstory and why she's important to this coven not be explained from her Pov but for one of the characters to explain to the audience because coming from her it lacked the surprise aspect, where when she would describe what she leaned came off as flat.

As the story progress I can definitely see how many are excited for the sequel. There are so many secrets and hidden agendas from each and every person mention in this story and I can't wait to see how some are fished out in the sequel!!

Got this ebook in exchange for an honest review.

Honest I will be. Wow. I really liked this book. It has some YA predictability, except that I can't help but get the feeling that the author might be luring us into a false sense of security...like she wants us to think we know where the story is going, but there might be a twist lingering. MY FEELS.

This is a debut effort from the writer to. Wow. It's got similar themes to some of my favorite series but a unique identity of its own too. I think the characters were really well developed. I could picture them perfectly, and I can't wait to get my hands on the prequel to learn more about the boys in the Coven!

That ending though... total cliffhanger so you might be mad! I can't wait for the second book in the series. This story is really underrated I am recommending this to everyone I know!

I really liked this book. The prologue was mysterious and really hooked me into the story because I just had to know why that was happening! I also really liked the main character Finn, she sort of finds herself in the story.

She is kind of sassy but also has her sweet and vulnerable moments. She goes from being afraid, confused and vulnerable to finding her own strength. It's only the first book in this series so I'm really excited to see how her character builds.

I like that there are hints of potential romance MAYBE in this story but that the story does not in any way revolve around it.

I was so mad when the book ended because I wanted to know what happened next! I can't wait for the next one! I have so many questions I'm hoping the next book answers them!

The cover of this book intrigued me and am glad I won a giveaway for it. Is the story of Finn, a young girl who is somewhat of a loner whose Mom disappears. She is frantically looking for her when the new boy from school arrives on her doorstep and leads her into a whole new realm of Irish lore and her birthright. She discovers her missing Mom is not her birth Mom and her birth Dad is on an evil path. She is drawn into a group of trainers to discover she has powers and must learn to use them for good and not evil. Is a cliffhanger that leaves one craving more. Hate the wait for another book, but will be worth it I'm sure.

A really enjoyable story. It is definitely the beginning of something big.

The air of mystery and secrets will definitely have me coming back for more. I want nothing more than a happy ending for the families who have clearly known much sadness.

The friendship between Finn and Eaman will be interesting to see develop. Communication will definitely need to improve for something longer term.

Only thing that bothered me was that Finn got pulled out of school. The boys all got to go to school, why not her too? All the other teens seem to save the world while balancing homework. (That's just the teacher/school lover coming out in me.)

I really liked this book. I find it hard to get into books sometimes but had no trouble once I started reading this one. My favorite thing about the story was the magic and the tie in with Irish history and myth. I am Irish so I found it really interesting!

I love Finn and Eamon's relationship even though it isn't the focus of the story, it really hints at it and I think that it's really adorable the way they argue.

I can't wait for Descending.

The Writing:
The writing was okay. This was a fast paced book and easy to read. We read all from Finn's POV. I would like to read from Eamon's POV too.
Oh! And I think it's very helpful the Pronunciation Guide because some of the names are a bit difficult.

The Story:
If you like City of Bones by Cassandra Clare, you might like this.
This story has many similar things to City of Bones. Starting with mother disappeared. Crazy, bad father after his daughter. Not knowing who she really was. Tyler and Simon are quite similar. Jace and Eamon are quite protective.
But, good thing is that I like City of Bones and I liked this one.
This was a fast easy read. It has similar things to City of Bones, and because of that I can't say it's the most original book ever but then the book gets its own personality.
This is about Finn, a 16 year old girl who suddenly finds that weird things are happening, new guy in town and her mother is missing. Then, she finds out that she is a witch, the guy is a warlock, and her father is after her because she is powerful. The witch things, the Irish folklore and myths are what gave its personality to this book.
However, I think these things need more devolpment. This is the first book in a trilogy or series so this is an introduction, the beginning. I want to see more of the witch/warlock things and definitely more of Ireland's folklore. It has potential so I would like to see where this story goes.
About the romance, I liked it because it's slow burning and nothing happens. It's like it was there and at the same time it isn't. But it's definitely there. I want more of it. More development. I think this is a great change for YA books.
The end was surprising in a way. I expected the big end to happen, but I didn't expect what happened before it. I'm afraid that will change all relationships but I have faith in friendhip and love and that everything will be fine.

The Characters:
•Finn: I liked her! She was fun and honest. She wasn't like 'oh,no,I'm in the worst situation, why is this happening to me?'. She was more like 'well, this is happening, let's find the truth and train'. Of course, she missed her home, her mother and best friend but that is something normal. If she wants, she could be pretty badass. I liked that. She has character development because everything that happens makes her grow. However, I'm a bit afraid of her lasts decisions. I liked her and I hope she doesn't change for the worst.
•Eamon: He was complicated. His mood changed so much that he was difficult to read and to catch up. Complicated to know how to act around him. But that's all armor in my opinion. He can be really sweet and caring, he needs to protect people because of his past but that just makes him more sweet.
•Tyler: I liked him! He was fun and we didn't read a lot of him but he seems to be so sweet. I hope we read more of him but if we do I don't think their friendship (Finn-Tyler) will be in a good situation.
•Neely: He was so fun and easy to be friends with. I liked him!
•Deacon: At the beginning I didn't like him a lot. I think he cares for Finn but doesn't show it. I hope this cousin relationship gets better and better.
•Caine: Sometimes I like him, sometimes I don't. I need to read more of him and see.

The friendship in this book is there but it's not as visible, or main thing in here as it could be. Anyway, maybe in the next book friendship gets a new role.

Overall, this was an entertaining and enjoyable read. It's not the most original but it gets it's own personality. Witches, warloks, magic and myths. Not that much romance but it's definitely there. Good characters. I want to continue this series.

*The publisher provided this book in exchange for an honest review through NetGalley.*
Finn tought she was just another normal girl and that her life would eventually change when she got older, but that was really far away, until one night she starts to have mysterious nightmares about strangers.
The arrival of a new boy in town seems to be related to her strange dreams and to the disappearance of her mother shortly after but she couldn't even imagine the truth that the boy brought with him and the way that it would turn her life into utter mess.
Ripped from everything she has ever known or posessed, Finn embarks on an adventure to find out about her origins and powers and find out how in the world she's going to escape the claws of her evil biological father, that intends to use her to increase his power.
I have to start my chain of toughts by stating that this is one of those books where you just can't stop reading! It's interesting and engaging with awesome characthers and a marvellous plot that will make you fall in love with it.
You'll want to find out more about the witches and where they came from. You'll really want to know what Finn is really capable of and what happens to her, but better, you'll care.
In order to make you get to the level where you're going to feel really bad if something happens to certain chracthers that means that they are really great characthers that posess traits that differenciate them from others and make them peculiar and unique.
Even though there are some things that are a little too predictable this book is magical in every way possible.
This is a perfect read for YA fantasy lovers, and even if that's not your cup of tea you should give it a try, it's worth it!

*** Ebook sent to me in exchange for an honest review

Finn Adams is just an ordinary teenage girl…but as in most if not all stories, it doesn’t take long before she discovers that things are not as they seem. As Finn eventually finds out, she`s a witch! I don`t remember the last time I read a book that had to do with witches and magic, at least not since Harry Potter, so it was nice to delve back into a different magical world and see what it was all about.

If you like novels that start off slower and gradually pick up the pace – this is the novel for you. The story does have a rather slow start, but as Finn begins to figure things out that`s when the pace picks up and then you`re in for a roller coaster of a ride.

I enjoyed Finn as the main character. She didn’t annoy me, not in the least. I have this problem
where if the main female character is too whiny, too damsel in distress-like, or so head over heels in love that she can no longer make rational decisions, I have to put down the book immediately and pick up a new one. Finn was a well-balanced character that matured over the course of the story. I also appreciated her sarcasm – that`s one of my favorite traits in characters and I always seek it out in every book I read.

The language the author uses is relative simple, which is great because you can read quickly and really immerse yourself into the story without feeling overwhelmed. I enjoyed learning about the other magical families and the town of Broadhaven. And no spoilers, but I really liked Finn and Eamon together.
