A spectacular read about a parent who seems utterly indifferent to her child. The notions of propriety, inappropriateness and practicality are concepts utterly foreign to the mother, who really comes across as highly unsympathetic...I mean.....how can you leave your daughter alone in Morocco with strangers for goodness sake.

I read this book when I was 12. Of course, I was a little young to be reading this and I did not understand everything that was supposed to be written.
