Brion Brides #4

Alien General's Chosen

Rate this book
This general doesn't play fair...

This is a 70 k full scifi romance novel featuring a BBW human heroine and a growly alpha male Brion warrior general. It can and should be read as a standalone and has a guaranteed HEA ending!

Leiya has a secret. Trouble is, even she doesn't know it. One of the most promising singers Briolina has to offer, no one could know that the bright star is actually a human, a Terran from Earth. But when the most dangerous Brion in the universe marks her as his own, Leiya has more than hidden secrets to worry about. She thought she was ready for the love of her life, but the general is far more than she could have been prepared for! And no one's supposed to deny their chosen... but what if she has compelling reasons to do so, even if her body can't fathom the idea?

Faren is not a simple man. Seemingly devoid of emotions, rational to a fault, he is a monster on the battlegrounds and his reputation far precedes him. But after losing his brother, the only demon who could match him, Faren is aimless. When the binding hits him like a spear to the chest, making him recognize the innocent, curvy Leiya as his true mate, he finally sees a glimmer of a purpose. A goal. Her safety, her heart, and her body.

He will have her, the right way, even if it kills him and everyone around him. Nothing could stop the Monster of Briolina. But it seems like the whole universe is going to try like hell, both to get him as well as kill the human woman he has sworn his heart to. The universe doesn't know the power of an alien general who can only be controlled by the woman he loves...

Will Leiya trust to love the man who is the epitome of everything she despises, or will fate have to make the decision for her?

This is the first book I have read by this writer. While I do think it has potential of being a good series, some things just kept me from really liking it. Here is my breakdown:

Pros:
* A creative and unique storyline
* I love the world that this author created
* Offered as a kindleunlimited

Cons:
* At times I felt as if there were too much inner monologue going on. I wanted more in the sense of actual conversations and interactions. I tired of hearing all about what they were thinking and imagining. The characters seemed to dwell on their own reactions mentally rather than verbally. I understand this to an extent, but I was left wanting more in this aspect. The hero and heroine had such limited conversations and encounters.
* I did not care for this heroine. She came across as not only weak but overall quite rude and judgmental.
* The hero was introverted and I get that............but his character barely spoke throughout this read. I didn’t get much in the sense of personality from any of the characters.
* The sex was steamy when it did happen, but there was no intimacy until the 90% mark
* The book cover was hideous
* The epilogue was bland

Overall, I wasn’t impressed with this read or the writing style and I have no desire to continue the series.

I was so looking forward to this one from reading about the hero in the other books of the series.

I liked the idea of opposites attract as well.

However, the heroine's lack of self and other awareness as well as the tone of her internal dialogue made this book not work for me at all.

So sad.

Everyone of Vi Voxley' sc0fi stories are unique, totally absorbing, absurdly romantic, hot insanely sexy an of considerable length to give the reader a real story to grab on to and look for thee next book. I have read them in the wrong order, so After I finish this last book of the Brion Warriors, I will start again in order this time. what a great series. I sincerely hope Vi Voxley will do what her competition does not do. they give us these too short books with limited character involvement, few tie-ins with other books in the series and these books afe noe edge ofthe seat crisis after the other. We get a HEA, but these is lots of work by the Hero and strong heroine to get there. No fainting violets in these stories. Each is her own person and I could see that the series could go on for serveral more books... most happily from my part.

I would love to be a beta reader as there are some minor flaws that if eliminated would silence the few critics. Give her books a chance. 500 to 700 pages in not nearly enough! Vi, Please write more of these lengthy sci-fi's.

First things first - -Roven needs to have his fated mate!!!!! I want his story!!!!

Okay other than that. This was wonderful. My first introduction to the Brion Brides series, and I will definitely have to ready the few I missed in the beginning.

This is the tale of Faren and Leiya.

Faren is a great general in the Brion army. One of the most feared warriors around. He believes violence is the way to solve the problems is people will not follow the rules.

Leiya is a human who was raised a Brion. She is now one of the most famous singers around even though she just completed her training. She abhors violence, and just wants peace and love.

Leiya is asked to sing at the gathering. A place to meet your beloved. Who knew that she would meet hers there, or that it would be one of the most feared generals and her opposite. He was there to catch her when she fell, and he knew in that moment she was his gesha.

Now the only problem left for Faren is getting Leiya to accept it. The beginning does not go to well, and the middle is not looking to good for him either!!!

A great story to sink you teeth into !!! I loved it!!!!

I received an ARC for an honest review!!

I love this series! Love all the super machoism! The extreme testosterone these adventures reek with just dazzles. These heros are the ultimate male specimens and who wouldn't fantasize about having such a creature totally and absolutely at your beckon call? Besides, the heroines are just as spunky and vivacious. A truly titillating cat and mouse game!

I read this in a romance bundle via KU that is no longer available and that included books 3, 4, 1, 5 and 6 from the series. Here were my thoughts on the bundle:

I really wanted to give this a 5, really. But there were a lot of little things, and a couple major things, sprinkled throughout that just made me make a star away. My overall I impression in very high, but I think these books suffer when read back-to-back or as a boxed set. The 1st and 5th novels were by far the best-- the characters, backstroke, and plots had more development and depth. The 3 in the middle felt short and flat, bringing nothing truly new to the table I.e., it's a nice read if you are familiar with the characters but I can't imagine they would read well as a stand-alone since nothing really big happens with them. Also, the first 4 books had some really bad editing errors. Only minor errors in the 5th.

***The Cons***
(Please forgive me if I misspell the names as I'm working from memory.) Also, potential SPOILERS.

Deliya's story is unremarkable because we don't know enough about her to care about her and the ending is incredibly perfunctory. Leiya's story is interesting because of the whole "opposites attract" thing, but too much time was devoted to back story such that the connection between them was harder to buy into. Eurinya's story had so much potential but came off as boring because it read like someone else was reporting on what happened to her, rather than experiencing the story through that character's perspective.

There are several phrases, concepts or themes that are so repetitive that they are irritating. I am sure that the reader did most of them so that anyone could read any one book and understand what's going on. However, for serial or boxed set readers it is annoyingly repetitive. It might have been better to include a one-page primer that new readers could view to understand stuff and experienced readers could choose to skip.

If you are offended by crass language, you should stay away from these books. I usually don't mind if appropriate for the context, but I felt the use of some terms actually took something away from a love situation where it is already hard to find the romance.

***The Pros***
The 1st and 5th stories were SO enjoyable that the cons did not matter as much to me. Those 2 stories made the read worthwhile and made them real standouts in this genre. The author's writing is fluid and comprehensive. The concept is creative and interesting. If I had read only these 2 books I would have rated it 5 stars.

Another great addition to the Brion universe.

In this edition we meet Leiya & Faren, two complete polar opposites from one another. I found the contrast between the two very poetic, the whole night and day comparison. I also enjoyed that they were able to stay true to themselves while working through the problems that arouse. I found myself a little worried at one point but was very pleased that I worried for nothing.

Vi Voxley has definitely won me over with her likable characters and world building. This universe holds so much potential and Ms. Voxley is doing an outstanding job of keeping me enthralled.

Wasn’t for me

Absolutely despised the lead female character. She was judgmental and the story in general was very boring and predictable. The female leads inner monologue went on and on for pages and was very repetitive. Just my two cents.

I liked this one better than the first in the series. Even though the heroine was annoying with her prejudice against warriors and full belief in rumours, at least it was all resolved quickly.

If you like hot alphas who know what they want and don’t take no for an answer, then you will love this series! Reminds me a lot of the Lathar and Zerconian Warriors series which are my favs.

Am I coming or going? Am I up or down? Leiya is quixotic and her fated seems ice cold or is he? Hold on it's going to be a bumpy ride.

I received this book as an ARC for an honest review.

In this book we meet Leiya and Feren. Leiya is a litter girl brought from Terra to Brion. Leiya never knew her original origins because she was taken as a small girl to see if a Terran could be introduced into the Brion society and raised as one of their own. The point of this was to ensure that no one would know about the little girl so only a few knew about her. As she grew up there were signs that showed she was different but her father the Senator always made sure to harm anyone that hurt her in any way. Seeing this type of violence made her a pacifist in her own society but when they found she could sing and move many they overlooked the fact that she was against any and all violence. So the night of the reception there is a chance that geshas and gerion (fated mates) can find one another. Leiya as a Brion woman is hoping to find hers on this night what she gets is a man she never thought she wanted.

Faren and his twin Gawen were born different than other Brion. Faren is emotionless and Gawen is almost explosive with rage when they are together they help each other find balance. Both wish to be great warriors and make their father proud. As the years pass they are able to accomplish this but with the helpful advice from the one other person Faren finds he trusts Diego Grothan. Diego meets the boys on the day of evaluation and lets them know some very important information. After that the boys spend more and more time together and build a bond that is still imporatant in this day. So when civil war breaks out and Gawen and Faren take different sides Faren is not upset that it is Diego who must take him out. He in his detatched mannor just understands what had to be done was done. On that day however Diego gives him some insight that bonds them even more. "Though Gawen was externally angry Faren is internally angry." At this moment Faren realizes he may have as much rage in him and his brother had when it was shown it would be explosive. However the night of the reception when he sees Leiya he knows he has found his one.

This is an amazing book. I thought it would be a short story like a lot of paranormal books are but this is a full length book. It will have you on the edge of your seat waiting to see what will happen next. It is amazing how two people with polar opposite views can find common ground and a love worth fighting for. I would highly recommend this book to anyone and everyone.

Overall Rating: 4.5 Rockin’ ★★★★☆

In Alien General’s Chosen, a science fiction romance, by Vi Voxley the reader is transported to another world, where survival of the fittest dominates the entire planet of Briolina and being different is considered an oddity. Similarities are normal and encouraged. It creates balance for the raging madness that can consumer a warrior. As a young child parents groom their children for their livelihood before taking them to the council for a career selection. Our fated couple searching for their chosen is Faren and Leiya and they are complete opposites!

Leiya is a bubbly singer who abhors fighting and bloodshed. She is different from other Brion’s and doesn’t understand why. Faren is a general, one the fiercest warriors ever known. Strength and dominance equals survival and respect. The reception is an event for Brions to find their gerion and gesha. Although fate can be fickle sometimes the gathering of so many allows a greater possibility of finding their mate and gives the chance for it to happen sooner rather than later. She attends the reception looking for her gerion and also to entertain the masses with her songbird voice.

After the death of his twin, Faren needs his gesha, his other half to drive away the loneliness that has encompassed his world. He is the twin that doesn’t react with emotions and analyzes actions before reacting. His only friend, Diego encourages him to attend the reception and the unthinkable happens. He meets his gesha and his life is changed forever.

This is the first book I have ready by Vi Voxley and it will not be the last. I didn’t realize when I purchased it that is was part of a series, so it can be read as a standalone. The storyline draws you in and the action along with unexpected happenings keep you interested until the end. The plight of Faren tugs at your heart and has you wanting him to find some peace and happiness in his life. This was a phenomenal read and I highly recommend it for anyone’s library!

All I can say is WOW! This is my third book for SciFi and I will be reading many more, I never thought I would enjoy it but I was mistaken. I can't even begin to tell you what a fantastic read this stand alone book is. Yes, I read 452 pages all in one sitting, I just couldn't put it down. I bet you won't be able to either. You bet this is a MUST READ.
Leiya is a beautiful girl who loves life and hates violence, which makes everyone on Briolina nervous, Brion are violent Aliens. Leiya knew she was different then anyone on the planet but it never let it bother her. Then one evening her father the Senator was having a dinner party,  she wanted to climb and sing, she always climbed and 9 tims out of 10 she would fall. BUT when she was done singing, Leiya knew she just found out what she was good at.
Faren and his twin Gawen were born Brion Aliens and lived on Briolina, the twins were different from other Brion. Faren had  absolutely no emotions, where Gawen has so much rage he could explode. They might be different but together they balance each other out. There is a big party so everyone (all of the Brion's) wanted to be gerion and find there geshas. (Fated mates) I was gifted this ARC for an honest and truthful review.

A great sci/fi love adventure with a touch of suspence.Welcome to Briolina a world ruled by brute strength. Meet Faren, his twin Gawen, and there only friend Diego. Briolina has just came through a political revolt and things are not finished but most of the traiders have been delt with. During the revolt Diego found his gesha, his fated mate. Gawen had sided with the traiders and Diego killed him, leaving an empty spot in Faren. Faren knows nothing but war, blood and battle and fears he will turn like his brother Diego sends him to a Reception. A Reception is where the Brion go to meet people and help find there gesha or gerion.
Leiya is a senator's daughter. She detest violence and bloodshed and warrior s scar her to death. Leiya is sunshine, butterflies and roses. She is also the brightest starlet of Briolina and the entertainment for the Reception. As Faren enters people are warry, he is the fierest warrior and all he hears is stories of this Leiya and her soft ways and how she can't stand violence. However he an unfeeling warrior has to admit she can sing, this little song bird. There is something there, and as the Reception carries on Leiya winds up falling literally into his arms. He has found his gesha, his heart. How can the Brightest starlet of Briolina, a pacifest, a senator's daughter, be gesha to the bloodthirstiest Brion warrior and General .

Another amazing Brion brides book! This can easily be read as a standalone although I think that reading Diego's story (book 3 in the series) will add to your experience. I put off reading this because in Diego and Isolde's story Faren was portrayed as such a creepy character and I couldn't imagine a romance with him. His hotness factor went way up in this book of course and we get some insight into his persona and past. Leiya was not someone I bonded to but I didn't dislike her. I found her to be a little too sweetness-and-light to take seriously. She seems a little full of herself because of her fame and it bugs me that she always wears dresses like some Disney princess. There is less romance than passion and desire in the book. Like her other books, you have to wait for the steamy scenes but they are worth it. This turns out to be a marriage of opposites and it really falls to Leiya to make the compromises; it appears that the hot sex is worth it. I was daunted by the length but I have to say that it read very quickly and easily. I have already bought the next book in the series even though it is a behemoth in length. Can't get enough of those Brions!

I have to say the first 25% of the book was very slow, and I was getting bored, BUT the last 75% more than made up for it. So with that thought, I still highly recommend this book. Just have patience, it will be worth your time. You know the old saying that opposites attract, well they can also be fated mates. Leiya is a human that has been raised as a Brion who loves to laugh and sing, and hates for people to bleed. Feren is one of the generals known to be one of the best at killing and seems to never show any emotion. They are both very surprised to find out that they are bonded mates, but this book is so much more than this basic storyline. There is lots of action as Leiya has to be protected from someone that she thought was a friend. At the same time, Leiya and Feren have found that their very different halves make a whole, and that there is very strong chemistry between them. I loved the ending. I received this book from the author in return for an honest review, and again, this is another book by Vi Voxley that I enjoyed reading.

Book 4 Faren and Leiya
This is the 4th in the Brion Brides series.
In previous books you meet Faren and his twin but Diego kills him and Faren sides with Diego over the traitor Eren.
Faren in the series barely talks, mostly says no or grunts so it's no surprise that his book has a huge amount of internal talking.
This i didn't mind because it fits the character.
Leiya is a rare Brion singer that at a concert try to find her friends so climbs on to a table and falls into Faren lap.
There's more to Leiya then meets the eye and Faren knows her secret straight away.
Faren kidnaps Leiya believing her to be in danger.
I really enjoyed this book and getting to see more sides to Faren character but in the end he didn't change or because a sappy wimp after meeting his fated mate gesha.
Leiya developed more over the pages and finally got more of a backbone. She didn't turn bloodthirsty but at least dealt with the fact that she is mated to one of the most scared of general's in the whole Broin army.
Great HEA.

“Alien General’s Chosen” is another great read by Vi Voxley in the Brion Brides series. Book 4 to be exact. One of the things that I do enjoy about this series is that each book is a standalone story. While it helps to read the other books to gain a full appreciation for the universe that Voxley has created, it isn’t necessary to understand what’s going on.

But…there are things that are pertinent to the story. The Brions are a warrior race. When they mate, they mate for life and the “mating”…well, they don’t get to choose their mate, fate (or whatever powers that be) have a hand in it and when it happens…ohboy!

In book 3, we meet Faren and from my perspective – he’s the strong, silent and deadly type. So when the “Monster of Briolina” meets Leiya in book 4, I giggled. A bit maniacally because, well, fate.

And in typical Voxley fashion, the sparks fly, the sex scenes are fun, and the pages keep on turning. Digitally, at least for me.

Although sci-fi isn't my normal read, I really enjoyed this story.
General Faren is one of the fiercest Brion warriors and he is feared by many. But when he realizes he has met his fated, all bets are off. Can he show her he has feelings for her? Or will he lose her to another?
Leiya is a singer who is starting to think about finding her mate. Although she hates everything that the warriors stand for, she can admit that Faren is HOT! When she realizes her life is in danger and that she truly is as different as she has always felt, she runs to Senator Primen for answers.
Although Faren tells Leiya she is his gesha she fights it and runs from him. She isn't ready for her life to take such a drastic change. When things start to happen and she see's that what she has always believed is a lie, will she agree to be his mate? Will either of them survive the war? Will the two end up together or are there to many factors fighting against them?

I am addicted to this series. Vi Voxley is fast becoming one of my favourite Romance SciFi writers. Another sexy Brion General? Yes, bring it on! I am totally into Faren, not as much as I am into Diego but he's still one of my favourites. I'm not really to sure about feelings for Leiya, not one of my favourite h but it seemed her personality/character is exactly what Faren needed to ground him eversince he lost his twin Garen in previous book.

As much as I love the book, I do find that the beginning was a little bit too slow for my liking. Sometimes I find there's a wee too much internalisation musings, I would love to have more dialogue. Summarisation is fine but not too much until the reader can get bored. It is still a great book to read and this is a wonderful series. I couldn't believed I'm going to write this but I do wish for a bit more steamy scenes in future books. Very much recommended!

Great Series!! Love this story

I don't know why I am obsessed with the Brion society, but I totally loved this book. First, I am glad Faren met his Gesha and that I was able to his story. I liked him from the Alien General's Bride.
Leiya was an interesting character. A human brought onto Brion to see if a Brion on could truly bond with a human. Well, the pacifist song bird bonded to one of the most feared Generals in the Union. This was the last thing she wanted.
However, when the truth comes out and she learns who her Gerion is, she may just change her mind. It is quite an adventure, full of peril. Will Leiya ever accept Faren?
This was a great story of finding love in the most opposite of places of what is expected. It was an enjoyable read and I love this series, it gets better with every book!!!

Adventure, deceit and romance all thrown in space. With a hunky space alien who is all muscles and smarts.
Faren is one of the many alien generals of Brion. But he is the scariest besides his only friend General Diego. He is scary because he had no emotion what so ever. Even growing up, nothing gets in his way of his emotion. He just does, so what happens when you throw a geisha in his path, that is his?
Leiya grew up on Brion, for as long as she remembers. Always has been considered a weird Brion by everyone. And with her father a senator, no one speaks out against her anymore for fear of death by the senator. Because that is what a Brion is violentby nature right? But why does she feel to need to say no against violence, war and Brions Soldiers? So what will happen when she literally drops into the lap of a soldier with stormy eyes?

What happens when they tell you your going to get the opposite you wish for? You laugh with them. But when it turns out he's exactly what they said only worse in your eyes, you run. How far do you think you can get without getting caught on a world full of Warriors?
His gesha? The one things he'd hoped for but never expected to find. Now is really not a good time when old enemies make plans to get even. Taking a risk he's not willing to take, things go wrong fast. Hoping she'll see reason he does the last thing she expected, he lets her go.
I have been following this series and absolutely love it. Very well written. I loved the characters, the commentary and the way the characters made me laughed. Sometimes I laughed so hard I didn't think I'd finish the book in time. Can not wait for more in this series.

I really enjoyed the story of a human raised to believe she was a member of an alien race. She never understood why she was so different in her thinking and disliked the violence that was so pervasive in the society. When she meets her mate, he is her exact opposite. He is a violent general known for his coldness. She wants to sing and avoid any violence so she is reluctant but he is determined to have his mate.

It is a very well-written romance with well developed characters. It is longer than many similar stories I have read which gives the author the time needed to really get to know the characters and make them multi-dimensional. It keeps your attention throughout the story.
