Her best friend or her lover. How can she choose?
Jon’s glamorous life as a racecar driver is poles apart from Anita’s job in a bookshop, and he’s drawn to her in a way he never imagined. After one unfaithful, soon-to-be-ex-wife, and a revolving door of models and actresses, Jon finds Anita’s innocence and vulnerability a breath of fresh air.
Anita’s abusive ex-boyfriend left her running scared of any kind of relationship. Picking up the pieces of her life is hard, but her best friend since childhood, Danny Webster, is only too willing to help. And then she meets Jon. He completes her in a way Danny never could.
She doesn’t expect the men to hate each other on sight. Losing Anita isn’t an option for Jon or Danny, but only one man is in the perfect place for her heart.
Romance author Sofia Grey spends her days managing projects in the corporate world and her nights hanging out with wolf shifters and alpha males. She devours pretty much anything in the fiction line, but she prefers her romances to be hot, and her heroes to have hidden depths. When writing, she enjoys peeling back the layers to expose her characters’ flaws and always makes them work hard for their happy endings.
Racing is the only thing that had become important in Jon’s life. After struggling through a messy divorce he is not looking for a relationship or anyone for that matter. He just wants to crack the Formula F1 before retiring where he can help in his dad’s business. Anita is all about horses and finds her true calling in the stables. She is young and outgoing but cannot trust very easily. They collide, well almost anyway, into a whirlwind romance, that neither of them were prepared for.
I so wanted to love this book and even tried going in with an open mind. I have not come across many great novels about racing romances. Pole Position had great potential and was drawn to the characters due to the synopsis. However, I severely wanted to shake Anita to give her some common sense. She drove me insane. How could she not see the mess she was walking into with her best friends or how naive she could be about things that were right in front of her face? Then there was Jon, God love him because I am not sure many others will. Great guy inside and out; but hypocritical and childish in most aspects. The decisions, or drama I should say, that Jon, Anita, Danny, and even Colette made could easily have been avoidable but it seemed they were all stuck in their own little world and fantasies.
Even though these traits are not always shown there are some heartfelt moments in the book; moments you ride out with the characters even though you know it won’t end well. Celebrity romances as we know do not always result in a happily ever after. But if you want something bad enough you fight for it. And this book definitely proves that love is a hard fought battle. The car racing and horse racing was also fun to read about and the fact in was not so in depth was nice. It gave the reader just enough to keep the interested without disgracing the sport.
I was gifted a copy of this book from the JeepDiva in exchange for an honest review. The opinions and ratings are my own and I was in no way compensated.

First and foremost, a big thanks to author Sofia Grey for offering her newest work to me to read and review. I'll be honest, I could give two shits about race car driving or horseback riding for that matter but I LOVED this book, every single word...up until about the 40-something percent mark. It was at that point that I hit a wall and never fully recovered.
I'll try to explain. Early on, I felt a bit 'meh' towards Anita but Jon was charming, Danny was jealous and deliciously unstable. Not to mention, BEWARE of Colette and her towel! Even Jon and Anita's first date was perfection. The pace was set to be a great page turner and then Colette became too stupid to live and once Danny was put more towards the back burner, it just unraveled for me. Even with the added 'action' at around the halfway mark, it still didn't keep pace with the first half of the book. The pairing was believable enough but without the fire that Danny added to the mix, they felt a bit stale, couldn't really stand on their own. From there things became a little too convenient and MAJOR issues that were present throughout were magically fixed. Three stars because of how much I enjoyed the first half and the fact that I've enjoyed previous work by this talented author. Pole Position will definitely have an audience, unfortunately, it just didn't quite come together for me.
Sofia Grey's novels rarely disappoint, and this one is no exception. Masterful at setting a mood, she quickly draws you into the various high emotions that surround Anita and Jon's romance, both their own and those of the people around them. This one is something of a two-in-one romance, for there is another couple that finds their HEA alongside Anita and Jon even though they are the main focus of the story. We are also introduced to another couple that rumor has it will be the main pair in an upcoming novel. These sideline stories do not detract in any way from the main story, but rather enhance it with the story of the secondary couple in particular helping to add to the angst that builds around Anita and Jon as their story progresses.

Synopsis:
Losing Anita isn’t an option for Jon or Danny, but only one man can take pole position for her heart.
My Thoughts:
Sofia Grey never disappoints, she is one of my favorite authors and I usually love her books. I did love this one too, I just thought the book would be about race drivers, cars and that life. Instead it was mostly about horses, I don’t do horses at all. I am no and have never been a horse girl so I find hoses utterly boring. I would have liked a “horses warning here”. Not she works in a book shop she is never in.
That said the book itself has a wonderful flow in it, I love the chemistry between the ppl in it. The hero Jon I looooove he is just the best hero there is. Just after my heart. I absolutely adored the story told from his side.
Anita is a bit more naive and that shines through in the lines when she is telling her story.
While I was reading this it all sounded strangely familiar with the names and people in it. The I remembered I had read about them briefly before in the Talisman series, so it was super cool when I got that reference and made the story so much more fun for me.
Overall I loved the book, my notes are I would have liked more racecars and less horses.
The hotness and erotica part of this book was A+++++ for sure.
Thank you Sofia for trusting me to read and review your baby. And what a baby it is!
Ms Grey at her best! Writing from a place dear to her, and that she knows well, Ms Grey is in her element with this story. I loved reading the story of Jon and Anita. You may remember meeting them in The Talisman series. I'm so glad we get their full story in this stand alone novel.
With circumstances outside of her control Anita is put in a position of choosing between her new boyfriend and her life long friend. This story will reveal who she chooses. We get romance in abundance, a great look around Britain, and a bit of "What the hell?".
Another wonderful, exciting read from one of my favorite authors, and a must read, for romantics and petrol heads!!
I very much enjoyed this book. I wanted to read this book because I love auto racing and I love romance, and this book had both. It is a great story that has just enough about the auto racing and the horse riding that it adds to the story, but does not overpower the romance. There were times that I wanted to strangle the main characters, and there were times that I was crying right along with them. This means that the author has done a great job pulling you into the story, when you can feel all of the emotions like that. I also did not want to put it down once I staryed reading it. I received this book from the author in return for an honest review, and I do recommend it.
Jon and Anita couldn't be any more different: he is a high-profile race car driver and she works in a little bookstore. It's love at first sight and things quickly heat up, until someone keep doing everything in their power to tear them apart. Can their love survive? A wonderful sexy read by Ms. Grey and one that I will read again and again.
Began reading a new author. Don't like "sexual" stories. But this was so awesome with real life characters, real kind situations. A fast pace story I just couldn't and didn't want to let down my Kindle. Don't miss out. I have a new favourite author!!
2.5 - This book started out GREAT. It was a 4 to 4.5 star until about half way through. It got muddled and unbelievable and eventually annoying and I had to force myself to finish it. Great start though...
