This lively modern classic treats the subject as both social history and art history. The book covers silver, jewellery, ceramics, glass, textiles, metalwork, architecture and the other disciplines which Art Deco revolutionized.

Well it was interesting yet in some places I felt like I had enough. And in some places I even thought, maybe I don't like Art Deco as much as I thought I did! The 'dark'; political side of Art Deco was not pleasant to learn about. (Yes this is a style suitable to a book I just read - 1984) The book did get much better in the second half and it did cover a huge variety of ways that art deco evolved or that it influenced. So very good in the end. The design of this book, specifically the photography is not well thought out. Many photos were poorly cropped and then poorly placed on the page. The lighting on the objects was also poorly done. Black and white photos can be beautiful; these were not.
