A very good book overall, offering a clear and comprehensive description of critical thinking tools and techniques.
Most of the last chapter, however, left me with a bad taste in my mouth, as it abandons all aims to be critical to embrace the wild claims and value judgements of postmodern “critical theory”. I am aware that the authors aim to neutrally expose the wide range of philosophical positions there are. However, by engaging with unsubstantiated (and, at times, outrightly crazy) claims, they make themselves a disfavour. This is mostly paradoxical in a book about, let’s not forget, critical thinking.

كتاب تدور مادته حول عمليات وآليات التفكير الناقد " أساسيات الفهم الأساسي للتفكير الناقد "، أنواعه، وكيفية توظيفه في التعليم و مجالات حياتيه شتى. جامعاً في بطونه بين عدة مذاهب وأصول وعلوم كالمنطق، وعلم النفس الادراكي المعرفي، والإبستمولوجيا، والنظرية النقدية، والنظرية السياسية والاجتماعية، غير أنه يتكئ على عالم الأفكار الشاسع الذي يضيق عنه كل مقام.
ودوره وأثره في فهم الذات، و اللغة، وإنتاج المعنى، وقراءة ونقد
الإنتاج الأدبي والفكري الفلسفي؛" نقد النصوص، والنظريات، والأعمال الفنية، والممارسات، وإلخ.". ومساهماته الثرية في فضح الوعي الزائف، وكيف أثر تاريخيًا في الخطابة السياسية والسياسات الاجتماعية.
"من مهمة التفكير الناقد، من منظور ماركسي، فضح السبل التي تستغلنا بها النصوص والتدابير الاجتماعية وتقلص بها من أدوارنا، السبل التي تغرب بها، والكيفية التي تستجيب بها لهذا الاغتراب- إما بتحمله، وإما مقاومته وإما وضع أقنعه عليه، وإما باستثماره." ( ص 464)
