Aventura ei abia incepe pentru ca il cunoaste pe marchizul Ian Castleton.
Ian devenise marchiz dupa moartea fratelui sau, dar era un rol pe care trebuia sa-l joace, desi nu si-l dorea. Considera ca fratele lui era perfect pentru rolul de marchiz. Ian ramasese singur. La scurt timp dupa ce fratele lui a decedat, parintii lor nu au putut suporta pierderea si au murit la randul lor. Si cum raul nu vine niciodata singur, Ian era la un pas de o logodna nedorita. Ducele Wendover dadea crezare spuselor fiicei sale, Felicity care-l acuza pe Ian ca i-ar fi distrus reputatia, implicit viitorul si ca trebuia sa o ia de sotie. Intalnirea cu Selina l-ar putea ajuta sa scape de un legamant pe care nu-l doreste, iar el ar putea sa o ajute sa scape de Ralph Tuner si John Gardner.
