This was a lot of fun and surprisingly, I really liked the narration. Joel Leslie isn't my favorite narrator but I have to say I enjoyed listening to him in this book. I wish the 4 stories based on fairytales (Cinderella, Goldilocks and the Three Bears, Pinocchio, and The Snow Queen) would have been longer but they were great nonetheless with lots of very funny moments and true emotions, especially in the last story.

This was my first MM fairytale story or stories and I don't know why I waited so long. These were so much fun!

The Naked Prince consists of four short stories all based on traditional fairy tales or fairy tale characters: Cinderella, Goldilocks and the three bears (snickers), Pinocchio/Jack and the Beanstalk and the Snow Queen.

These stories are written like traditional fairy tales, with far-off worlds, handsome princes and that instant love spark. The authenticity of the writing had me feeling like I was listening to the original fairy tales. The only difference is Cinder and the Prince get it on the night of ball! The sex isn't explicit, but the fact that it's there in every story, just had my pervy hands rubbing together in glee at all the debauchery occurring. There were definitely more than a few chuckle moments, my favourite was when it was revealed that it's not Pinocchio’s nose that grows…and Jack (from the beanstalk) just happens to be a size queen!!!

What really stole the show though was the narration! My GOD Joel Leslie is the most talented voice actor I’ve heard in audiobooks. I think it's largely that his voice just fits the role of fairy tale teller to perfection. He has such a proper accent (don't ask me what it is) that I was immediately transported into these stories. His variety in accents and voices (he can even do a variety of women!) is outstanding, so much so that when the second story started I had to look up and check if it was the same narrator for both stories. He made every story unique and gave each character their own individual voice. It was such a fun experience listening to this!

These were such fun stories and very cleverly written, but Leslie’s narration is what makes this such a high rating! It was perfection and I highly recommend this if you like fairy tales with some MM lovin!!

In this wickedly entertaining take on classic fairy tales, Joe Costentino gives us four short stories full of all the characters you remember from storybooks - Cinderella, Pinocchio, Goldilocks, Captain Hook, Jack and the Beanstalk, Prince Charming and many more - but fair warning: This ain't your childhood Cinderella.

Welcome to a world where it isn't Pinocchio's nose that grows when he tells a lie. Goldilocks discovers three sexy daddy bears in the woods and "someone's been sleeping in my bed" takes on a whole other connotation. Jack is "very nimble" but sadly also "amazing quick" and Prince Charming dons "palace protection" for hot sex with Cinder. Extra bonus points for this wonderful quip: “I always suspected he had more down his throat than a frog.”

Joel Leslie's narration is simply wonderful, elevating already great material into something delightfully enjoyable. Leslie does a beautiful job with a wide range of accents - "joisey" to English, Irish and most everything in between. I will definitely be looking for more works narrated by Joel Leslie!

Are you ready for four short, humorous, sexy tales about Fairyland and all it's occupants?

once-upon-a-time

Unexpected twists abound with each new fairy tale novella based on the classics: Cinderella, The Three Bears, Pinocchio, and The Snow Queen. Funny, sexy and entertaining, Joel Leslie's narration highlights the best about each story.

I love fairy tales, and always love getting a new perspective on old favorites. Joel Leslie pulls out all the stops (and the accents) to give listeners a wonderfully enjoyable experience.

The narration was lovely and entertaining, and I enjoyed two out of the four stories. "The Naked Prince" and "The Golden Rule" were both funny and highlighted brilliantly by Joel's character voices.

If you like fairy tales, you should definitely check out the audio.

Fairy tales are the first type of story I remember being read to me when I was a child, and I have always liked (most) of them. Reading different versions now - with all types of added naughtiness as in the case of this collection of four old and new tales – is at least as much fun, if not more. And with Joe Cosentino’s brand of humor added to the proceedings, I was ready for a very entertaining read. I am happy to say that I was not disappointed, and some of the situations in these stories made me laugh out loud. The tone and language (very flowery in places) added to the ambiance, and transported me into a slightly different world – the one of Fairyland.

‘The Naked Prince’ is a retelling of ‘Cinderella’, but with a definite GLBT twist added to it. “Cinder” is a very talented young fashion designer, the prince has been named Charming because that is what his parents thought of him, and the stepmother and her two awful daughters are not the only horrible baddies in this version of the tale. While most of the story develops as I expected, there were some wonderful changes and delightful little twists not contained in the original. And the ending? Priceless!

‘The Golden Rule’ is a version of ‘Goldilocks and the three Bears’ that made me laugh out loud several times. Well, not the bit where poor Gideon falls for Jack, the candlemaker’s son’s charms, only to be kicked out of his home by his homophobic parents. Then Jack rejects him (being too busy with the Woodsman, Aladdin, and the Wizard of Oz), and Gideon ends up in an abandoned cabin in the woods. See where this is going? The three Bear brothers aren’t easily convinced to let Gideon into their lives, but things sort of develop their own dynamic.

‘Whatever Happened To…?’ is a hilarious story about a reporter interviewing “a celebrity with a growing appendage” about his life in and out of the limelight. And no, the appendage in question is not the one from the original… that wouldn’t fit very well with the naughtiness level of these retellings. But some of the lies the interviewee comes up with are very funny. It took me a while to figure out who he was, and I did, but identifying the reporter was a little more difficult. When the two characters veer off the interview questions, then go on a date, I loved the fact that they were given a happy ending of their own.

‘Ice Cold’ is a variation on ‘Snow Queen’ with Gaelen and Kieran, who have grown up together in Frost Village after their parents died in a blizzard. They grow up and become lovers, but they are in deep trouble when a heartless prince abducts, bewitches, and abuses Kieran. Gaelen’s adventures as he searches for Kieran are full of temptation, but in typical fairy tale fashion he resists and collects information and support along the way. An intriguing action/adventure-like tale follows, and the ultimate confrontation as well as the ending were nicely done.

If you like fairy tales retold in a slightly different way, if you have always wondered who else might be pairing up behind the scenes other than princes and princesses, and if you’re looking for a fun, entertaining read that will make you laugh, then you will probably like this collection of imaginatively retold and sometimes naughty fairy tales.

Four gay-themed fairy tales written as a cross between Mother Goose and gay erotic shorts

Taken individually, each of the stories was a fun trip into a group of fairy tales with a nicely gay twist. For me, each individual piece didn't shine as an extraordinary story in its own right. Altogether, the cumulative effect of the anthology is a bit of a fabulous retelling and recreation of the Grimm/Mother Goose motif with plenty of princely, devoted men who love each other as only fairy tale characters can.

Naked Prince - 34 pages
4 stars - A powder blue suit never looked so fabulous!
Poor peasant Cinder meets a naked man who takes his mind off of his domineering stepmother and stepsisters.

The Golden Rule - 38 pages
3 stars - A nice mix of fairy tale feel and references (o.k., maybe too many references) with just a bit of a fairy tale story in itself.

What Ever Happened To... ? - 21 pages
3.5 stars - Another mix of allusions to semi-snarky, gay-friendly characters and situations, set against the flirtations and charms of two experienced and jilted but open folktale boys.

Ice Cold - 38 pages
3.5 stars - The Frozen winds blow for the opposite team.

What a cute and fun retelling of fairytales! My favorite tale was about Cinder and his Prince Charming, but they were all fun. There was humor and sweetness.

I think the narration by Joel Leslie is what made these stories so enjoyable though. All of his voices and accents were perfect.

My fave two: The Naked Prince and The Golden Rule.

The Naked Prince:
Sweet!! My favorite part is the backstory with Cinder’s parents <3 <3 <3 Loved that HEA also includes the happiness of all villagers.

The Golden Rule:
Hilarious!! The whole freaking fairy kingdom is gay XD I liked how the brothers turned their opinion about Goldilocks.

IMO all stories, like the fairy tales they are, have some elements in common: 1) Parents that claims family is the most important thing yet their actions shows otherwise 2) The importance of appearances in society over and over again 3) How being true to yourself makes you stand out and reach your dreams... AND 4) Good/Love always wins.

I loved Joel Leslie's narration. His performance made the stories real, sexy and funny.

**4.5 stars**

Four stars for the story and an extra half star for Joel Leslie’s narration on this one. Going into this audiobook written by an author new to me, I thought the cover (by Paul Richmond) was going to be my favorite part of the book, but each story was unique, creative, and fun-filled, and added to Joel Leslie’s delivery. This audiobook made for a fun-filled car trip as I found myself laughing out loud while listening.

It’s hard to pick a favorite, but I think I would pick The Naked Prince. Yes, it was a twist on the Cinderella tale, but the added humor of the situation both sets of parents were faced with made it unique.

My second favorite, due to its humor and sweet romance, was The Golden Rule, which featured a young man kicked out of his home for tallying with Jack, who was very nimble and quick to run when Goldie’s parents came home. He found a cabin in the woods occupied by three strong, but hairy men. These “bears” took him in, and Goldie found true love with Ben, the bear whose bed was “just right.”

I also enjoyed Ice Cold—this one for the romance and sweet love lost as opposed to the humorous upbeat positivity of the first two.

I don’t know why, but Whatever Happened To? wasn’t as appealing as the others. Perhaps because of the setting and the situation the MCs were in, it seemed less interesting. However, each story cleverly wove in characters from other Mother Goose or Grimm’s fairy tales, and I realized I was smiling throughout the entire book.

Since I had never read anything by this author, I was very pleasantly surprised by the writing of this fairy tale collection, but I was most surprised by the author’s sense of humor and his ability to get me to not only laugh out loud, but actually to “belly laugh.” I highly recommend this to audiobook lovers, and especially to those who loved fairy tales in their childhood. Joel Leslie’s voices were varied and amazing. For a minimal amount of money, you’ll get a maximum amount of pleasure from this short audiobook.

Audiobook Review:

This was a really sweet and fun listen. There are basically four fairytales adapted to gay characters. The first two are classic fairytales, Cinderella and Goldilocks and the last two are pretty original stories, one with traditional characters and I believe the last story is totally original as I didn't recognize the story or characters. It was an interesting concept and very well written; with humor, romance and fun. However, what really made this book so enjoyable for me was the amazing voices Joel Leslie gave to these characters. I don't think I would have liked this fairytale anthology as much without his performance.

OMG! This is hysterical. It is 100% silly! No holds barred – just laugh out loud – SILLY!

Joe Cosentino has made an absolute hodge-podge of all the fairy tales – EVER- and mixed and matched them into a collection of fairy tales with an erotic gay slant.

Add to this Joel Leslie’s great and many voice selections and you have a truly hysterical and really fun listening experience.

While I’m sure this was funny as a book, it is absolutely HYSTERICAL to listen to. I absolutely think this is the best way to enjoy this tongue-in-cheek collection of fairy “fairy” tales!

Four stars!
This was a fun grouping of four fairytales. I enjoyed seeing how Mr. Cosentino adapted stories many already know, but he still made them his own. I really liked how other nursery rhyme, fairytale, and fable characters are mentioned in passing throughout the story as if all of the characters are from the same place and know each other. I was dying laughing at all of the “royal protection” and “Fairyland protection” throughout the stories. It brought a comic aspect to the stories to show everyone is being safe but still has that kind of silly and whimsical aspect you expect from fairytales. Each story is independent but they’re interconnected and a definite pleasure to read.
I liked the twist on Cinderella in “The Naked Prince”. It’s a fun over the the top kind of a fairytale. The step mother and step sisters are wonderfully evil. They treat Cinder so horribly. But love definitely prevails in the end. The part with the queen and step mother was a bit of a stretch. However, the ending is so sweet. I love how he stays true to the original story as much as possible.
Gideon in “The Golden Rule” is so completely helpless. He tries so hard to be taken seriously. But he’s kind of funny the way he stops around and demands to be seen as an adult. The story was equal parts predictable and not at all. The ending is sweet though and you can’t help but smile.
“Whatever Happened To…?” Was such acute story. It started out a little slow. But it once the story hit its strideI couldn’t help but smile through the rest. I loved how we got a glimpse at Jack and Pinocchio as they loved through the years. It’s nice seeing how the characters stay together and live out their happily ever after. This story would have been the perfect if this story was the last with the way it ended.
There were parts of “Ice Cold” I liked and parts I didn’t. I wasn’t a fan of how both Gaelen and Kieran were with others in the story, even if it’s not explicit or in any major way. Those pieces didn’t add to the story or further the plot. However I liked how Gaelen didn’t give up and found Kieran no matter what. I really enjoyed how he stuck to the original Snow Queen story more closely than some of the more recent renditions in main stream media. It’s fun to see this story gender switched and made into a romance.

A great big dollop fairy dust has been thrown over four traditional tales of Far Far Away and made them totally fabulous. Add a dash of ribald humour, gentle digs at the straight community, and you have a what Joe Cosentino does best. Jaunty, humorous tales with a bittersweet edge.

First, we have The Naked Prince, who appears in front of poor, downtrodden Cinder (guess which tale this is…) He’s stark bollock naked and helpless, due to being robbed. He’s also a bit of a jackass, which was a refreshing twist, and the Stepmother eventually gets off with the Queen….

In The Golden Rule, Gideon Golden has been thrown out of his home by his homophobic parents (sadly, an all-too-common theme in real life.) The tale takes on a happier note when he takes shelter in an empty cottage on Bear Mountain. The three burly bears all take a shine to young Gideon, and the theme is love and acceptance.

Next, Whatever Happened To…? A size queen reporter (Jack, who has a thing for giants!) is sent to interview Pinnochio about his childhood, and discovers that Pinnochio’s nose isn’t the only appendage that grows when he tells porkies. Could this be true love and the beginning of a Happy Ever After?

And finally, Ice Cold gains its inspiration from Grimm’s The Snow Queen (or if you’re a millennial, Frozen.) Two boys, childhood friends, are orphaned and grow up together, eventually realising they are in love before one seeks adventure and falls into the clutches of Isadore, the Ice Prince. This story sets a different tone to the others and I enjoyed it most of all, as the jokey dialogue is replaced with real drama and tension.

So expect the unexpected. The bones of each traditional tale are there, but Cosentino has made mischief with just about every one of them. This is a gay new world, where all the tropes are turned on their heads, introducing other well-known characters as cameos or giving them walk-on parts. The author has a theatrical background and it shows in the dialogue. What fun this would be if it was set on the stage!

If I had a niggle, it would be that in places, the writing seemed a little clumsy when the secondary characters began squabbling. Yes, it was funny, but it took away from the major plot-lines. Not that this mattered too much. The book was an easy read, a bit of a giggle, and not too taxing on the braincells. Is it his best book? Not at all, but it is huge fun and has been written with so much affection, it’s very hard not to like it.

This was a cute collection of 4 Gay Romance short stories based on established Fairytales. Of course they have been significantly modified with gay MCs and a modicum of naughty content. I have summarized the featured stories below:

The Naked Prince:

An updated version of Cinderella where the male MC, "Cinder", happens upon Prince Charming walking naked in a field behind his house after being robbed for his fine clothing from hostile peasants. The two have instant chemistry and "Cinder", to ensure the prince's safety and to preserve his anonymity, literally gives the prince the burlap clothes off his back. Naughty, magical fun ensues.

The Golden Rule:

This story was based on Goldilocks and the three "bears". Goldilocks is a beautiful blond boy who was kicked out of his family home after being caught in a compromising position with Jack, the nimble and quick candlestick maker. Now homeless, Goldilocks wanders through Fairyland with the burden of an uncertain future hanging in the balance. He seeks shelter in the home of the three hirsute and bearded bears. Once discovered, he quickly becomes enamored with the bear he knows is "just right" for him.

Whatever Happened To...

A very funny and unique retelling of Pinocchio and the object of his affection, Jack. Jack tells of his past adventures involving a beanstalk and a castle in the sky. Pinochio, in his attempt to seduce Jack, lies about his background. The plan is successful, as Jack becomes fixated on Pinocchio's odd physical anomaly. Instead of his nose growing with each lie, his erection enlarges at an alarming rate with each fabrication.

Ice Cold:

Two young male lovers become cursed by the Ice Queen, who devises a plan to destroy their love by separating them and delivering one of them to an evil prince, who amasses beautiful men by erasing their memory so they have no life to return to outside of the castle. There, they are destined to live out a life of hopeless misery with the evil prince as their sole companion.

These stories are fun, light and quite humorous. Though they lack the explicit sexual content I prefer in my M/M reads, the stories were suggestive enough to be moderately naughty. Recommended for fans of M/M Romance who enjoy the thought of their childhood fairytales transforming into reads with decidedly adult content.

Super silly but cute anthology of MM-flavored fairy tales. My favorite was The Naked Prince. Loved Cinder and Charming. Very tongue in cheek with lots of funny snark and screamingly funny lines. Loved "palace protection." Hah! And Cinder's powder blue suit. Kept humming "Staying Alive, Staying Alive," as I thought of him in that suit. The second book "Golden Rule" with Gideon Golden serving as our Goldilocks was a trifle porn-y. All those double entendres. "And is that the reason you fell for Jack, whose candle has lit up the house of every guy in Fairyland?" Jack is quite the manwhore, running around Fairyland breaking hearts and generally causing trouble. Bo, Ben and Butch are our three bears who find Gideon in their home. Everybody gets aroused simply by looking. Just reminded me of a bad porno movie. Cute but didn't have the sweet and sexiness of the first tale. I did like the cameos of characters from several fairy tales. Our third, "Whatever happened to...." starts out quite mysteriously and I love the way the story unfolds until you figure out who it is. Better in that we get more of a story with our smexy bits. The last one "Ice Cold" reminds you of the Snow Queen or Frozen. It's clear the author has a great sense of humor and he has read these fairy tales and uses the foundation of the story to build his naughty ones. Overall really liked this one but again, my fav MCs are Cinder and Charming. With a shoutout to Charming's dad, the King.

Once more, Joe Cosentino is indeed my favorite writer. He has surprised me with another fabulous rich tale. This time; however, he has taken famous fairy tale stories we all know and but a whole new spin, upon them. Tales like Cinderella and a few others can be found inside, The Naked Prince and Other Tales.

I loved how Joe Cosentino made a few tales into a more interesting read yet. His writing style has a way of luring readers into unknown territories and leaving them with a taste for more. The Naked Prince and Other Tales brings up several different themes one like the love of two men who are complete opposites. These two meet and love is tapping them on the shoulder. Humor as always is to be expected when reading this new book. I love fairy tales and the creative ways that Joe Cosentino retold them. Definitely for adult eyes only due to the adult content mentioned.

I got to meet a wide variety of intriguing characters. Characters like Goldilocks and the three Bears are amazing. Their lives pull in readers. I was enticed as well as enchanted. Twists like readers never expected are found with each new fairy tale. Funny, sexy, and entertaining, this new novella collection is a must read for all. The Naked Prince and Other Tales is truly an enjoyable book. I can't wait to read more by this talented writer. An adventure of a lifetime!

A Joyfully Jay review.

4 stars

Who doesn’t love a fairy tale? Well, you are in for a treat with Joe Cosentino’s take on a couple of old favorites! If you haven’t read anything by Cosentino, you don’t know what you are missing. His humor and penchant for drama bring these old favorite a new life as he ventures deep into Fairyland. I will mention that these stories are more in line with fairy tales in the Shrek movies where they are all sort of combined into one, rather than being strictly a remake of one single story.

Overall, Joe Cosentino brought his brand of humor to update a few fairytales into the modern age. I wouldn’t be reading any of these to my nieces and nephews, but I surely did enjoy them! If you love fairytales, you’ve got to read the naughty versions – they are even better!

The naked Prince and other tales from Fairyland is a fun, hilarious collection of stories. Joe outdid himself taking old favorites from our childhood and putting a grown-up spin on them.

Usually, I review each story individually but each is short and in doing so I may give away spoilers. In Whatever happened to...? I laughed my butt off it was so funny. Ice Cold held some mystery and suspense; all stories had a touch of sex but none too explicit. Once again Joe delivered a fabulous story ( four of them rolled into one), well worth reading.

If you like gay princes, sexy bears, giants, reporters, fairy tales, comedy, suspense, and, sweet, fun man-sex, this is for you.

All of these retellings of classic fairy tales between two men are well written and loving. My favorite was the story of Jack from Jack and the Beanstalk and the start of his relationship with Pinnochio. Although the other stories, including Goldie and the three bears, the ice prince, and a very sweet story about Cinder meeting his prince. The lovely short stories bring you back to childhood while giving you a twist that made the stories even better!

Joe Cosentino is always full of imagination and surprise. This anthology presents four short stories inspired by familiar fairy tales and nursery rhymes, all tweaked with gay characters and Joe’s special quirky twists. Some are hysterically funny, some are full of adventure, and all contain sweet and touching romance. It is a quick and entertaining read through a very creative fairyland.

The Naked Prince and Other Tales from Fairyland
Tales from Fairyland, Book 1
★★★★☆
86 Pages

Would I read it again?: Of course!
Genre: MM, Holiday, Romance, Fairytales
Pairings: MM
Heat Level: ★★★☆☆
Content Warning: homophobic parents, rape/attempted rape (non-explicit)

The Naked Prince
Length: 1-25%
POV: 3rd person, dual POV
★★★★☆

Told in the classic “fairytale” style, The Naked Prince is a sweet love story with a lesson. While adapting the story of Cinderella, it also explores the concepts of greed, power, and its misuse. I liked the dual POV allowing us to see that Cinder and Charming were both prisoners of sorts to their mothers; I liked how sweet they were together and that Cinder was strong enough to resist when Charming parroted his mother's plans for his future.
Overall, a lovely story with a deeper meaning.

~

The Golden Rule
Length: 25-54%
POV: 3rd person, dual POV
★★★★★

Gah! How on earth did the sweetness just amp up another level?
The story of “Goldilocks” – aka Gideon Gold – is adorable, a little more feisty, and with a few lessons of it's own. Not only does it expose the heartache and betrayal of parents abandoning, disowning and kicking out their only child because of who he is, but it also touches on the prospect of the dangers that child can face in the world.
Jack is a real humdinger, sleeping with anyone and everyone who moves; the Woodsman should be smarter than he was; and the three brothers were an intriguing mix of predator and guardian. Bo and Butch were kind of creepy at first, the way they tried to prey on Gideon's innocence and ignorance, but I was so thrilled that Ben took it upon himself to protect him.
The chemistry and the slight change of the Goldilocks story, was really sweet and charming.

~

Whatever Happened To...?
Length: 54-69%
POV: 1st person, one character
★★★★☆

This was a highly original story that plucked pieces of other tales to make a whole. Covering stories from Pinocchio, The Brothers Grimm, and Jack and the Beanstalk, it brought them all together under the guise of a journalist piece about “What Happened To...” Pinocchio.
Pinocchio was hilarious. His adaptations from the original were funny and cheeky, while Jack's own personality was warm and inviting, changing him from size queen to someone to could look deeper. I loved the undercurrent of children pained/mentally scarred by their parents and their expectations.
Though it was a little less sugary-sweet than the other stories, it definitely had that warm Christmas glow that felt right for the timing and setting of the story. I loved the addition at the end about the extended family.

~

Ice Cold
Length: 69-96%
POV: 3rd person, dual POV
★★★☆☆

Though there were aspects of this story that were super sweet, I do have trouble with the whole rape-aspect. This is the story of the Snow Queen, with a twist, and I know that it's all about temptation, greed and pride, but I really wasn't expecting the scene where Isidore puts an ice sliver into Kieran's eye to basically rape him under the influence. Perhaps if it had stopped before the actual removal of clothes and had just been a control mechanism, it wouldn't have been so jarring, but it felt like it came out of nowhere. There was also a scene later on where Maedoc threatened to rape Gaelen. I didn't feel like either instances were really necessary, nor were the constant kisses and sexual attraction to everyone that they met along the way.
I utterly loved the first half of the story, between Gaelen and Kieran, but I had a problem with the rest of it, so I'd call it a 50/50 split between love/hate. I also didn't feel like the plot wasn't as well paced or explored as clearly as the other stories were.

~

Overall, I found this to be a sweet, cheeky collection of shorts, where Cosentino takes the classic fairytales and puts a unique spin on them. The only one I didn't utterly enjoy was the last one, Ice Cold, and that was for my own reasons.

Favourite Quote

“She replied between sobs, “Nobody in my...family was...that way.”
“Hah!” Dawkin replied. “How about your cousin Alice? I always suspected she got as far as she did in Wonderland by disappearing under the Red Queen's robe.””

REVIEW @Scattered Thoughts and Rogue Words

I’ll be honest and say I picked The Naked Prince And Other Tales From Fairyland just for the cover, it was too cute to resist and being the coverwhore I am, I had to have it. Plus I was very curious because I haven’t read a lot of retelling fairytales and nothing by Joe Cosentino yet.

The premises were great and they were well delivered, the stories are all well done and smart, engaging, funny and sweet. My personal problem with them is their shortness, too few pages to really enjoy each fairytale.

The Naked Prince is probably my favourite one. It is the retelling of Cinderella with a wonderfully sweet Cinder. Great characters, the second ones too, especially Maxwell and Mortimer, the two dead dads of our hero. I would love to read their own story together. To me this was the more developed and complete, it caught my attention until the end, a very beautiful ending.

The Golden Rule follows the adventures of Gideon, when just kicked out of his home ends in the three bears’ cabin in the middle of the woods. In this retelling of Goldilocks and the three Bears I found myself a little disappointed because I was cheering on a naughty foursome and I had to settle for some fun and a couple of misunderstandings.

Whatever Happened To…? is the one that gave me more troubles. At the beginning it bored me a little but I re-evaluated at the end and read it a second time to truly appreciate it. It was really hilarious and so surprising at the end, when the author revealed his name. It’s based on the Pinocchio fairytale, but of course with a dirty MC.

Ice Cold is the most emotional, following Gaelen in the desperate searching of his Kieran at times broke my heart. It stands out from the others and I would have loved to have more. Here too there were some interesting second characters that were more important that the main ones.

The cover art by Paul Richmond is the reason why I picked this collection. How could I resist? So cute.

Review written for Love Bytes Reviews.

Normally I would start my review off with a recap of the story but pretty much everything that needs to be said is listed in the blurb. I’m sorry to say that I just wasn’t enchanted with this book at all. The first story, the reimagining of Cinderella, was the best of the book but that sadly wasn’t saying much. When I first started reading, I thought the story was coming off as a bit corny but I was willing to roll with it as I’ve read some fairytales that were written the same way. As I finished the first story and then moved onto the other three, however, it became apparent that whether the corniness was on purpose or not, there were other problems that couldn’t be overlooked.

The writing actually seemed to get worse the farther in to the book I went; the writing was immature and there were no true transitions to speak of in any of the stories. It was like the author wanted to move from point A to point C but didn’t feel like dealing with point B along the way and so just skipped it altogether. It was somewhat interesting seeing all of the fairytale characters that were mentioned or given a small cameo throughout the book but after a while it was almost like the author was throwing that diversity in to distract from the poorly written story. I love fairytales but this just made me want to go back and read one of my son’s books just so I’d have a good story overwriting this one. I don’t enjoy giving bad reviews, I really don’t, but this was so bad I was practically dragging myself through the pages just to finish it.

I thought the stories in this book were so cute!

There was humor in this book along with some sweet parts too! I loved this authors twist on the old fairy tales and the way he wrote the characters in these stories.

But lets not forget the steam either which was very hot! Each story in this book was so good and will take you into a different tale that will either have you laughing so much there will be tears in your eyes or will give you some very steamy scenes!

I am really trying not to give away any spoilers because this book was just so funny and good you really need to read this for yourself, so I will leave this review with I 100% loved this book!
I would recommend this book!
I received this book free in exchange for an honest review from Inked Rainbow Reads.

Anyone who knows Joe Cosentino at all, knows if he had the power, the world would be completely gay unless proven otherwise. That's why I had a smile on my face reading his Tales From Fairyland. He basically created that world! Every story is a gay take on familiar Grimm storylines, but with a male erotic twist. Highly enjoyable!

Now, I have read every Cosentino book in existence, so far...... but knowing this prolific writer, there is definitely more to come.

Reviewed for Prism Book Alliance®

The Naked Prince and Other Tales from Fairyland is a collection of 4 short stories. Each of which is a reimagining of well a well-known fairy tale (or two or three) with gay protagonists. All of them also have a carnal twist.

A 1st from this author and I greatly enjoyed reading the fairy tales with a twist and some sexy scenes. I will say I preferred some stories over others.

I'm not sure what to make of this book. It's a collection of three stories, all based on fairy tales from three hundred years ago—and older. We all know the stories from childhood: Cinderella, Pinocchio, and Old Man Winter (or something akin to that). Author Joe Cosentino turns the stories on their heads by making all the main characters gay. Prince Charming is gay. Cinder (the name Cinderfella was the title of a 1960 American movie and the name is probably under copyright protection) is gay. They're all gay: Jack who jumps over the candlestick; the Three Bears; the Three Little Pigs; Gideon of the Golden Rule; the burly Woodsman; Humpty Dumpty; Pecos Bill; the Headless Horseman; Peter Pan and more ... whew!

Don't get me wrong: I love gay books, gay characters, gay romance, gay mystery, gay porn, gay history, gay historical fiction, but, well, there's nothing original here. The author simply takes fairy tales from the Brothers Grimm, Disney, and other fairy tale spinners and makes the characters gay.

I couldn't figure out who the audience for this is. Children? Fine, but then the sex (minimal as it is) would have to go. Adults? No, too light and fluffy to anyone who appreciates literature and originality.

The sex descriptions are practically nonexistent, and when something is described, it's almost shameful and silent. Penises are described as man's "organ" or "member." Gimme a break. It's a penis. A c**k. Make it real. And why does every character have to get boinked? Not every gay man likes to f**k or be f***ed, yet that's the first thing each of these characters does. What's wrong with just fondling the genitals? Enjoying a long, loving bl**job?

I'm left with the audience being gay teens and preteens. If I had read this when I was 13 or 14, my life would have been easier. But now, as an experienced gay man, gimme back my $4.99.

I really enjoy fairy tale adaptations so I decided to give this a try, but I didn't like it very much. The whole book is very irreverent in ways that I didn't like. But if you don't really seek out fairy tale adaptations to read, you will probably enjoy this more than I did. I think I would've preferred it as a game or cartoon, instead of a book.

I was expecting something along the lines of the Fables comics. The creator of those is apparently a horrible person, but I enjoyed reading them a lot. They had some emotional depth and interesting plots, in addition to all the references (both fun and serious) to familiar tales. In contrast, this book is aiming primarily for comedy, but unfortunately, the humor is not my kind of thing.

I kind of hate myself for the pedantry of what I'm about to say, but one of the jokes especially annoyed me.

I liked the last story the best - it was playful in the way it dealt with fairy-tale tropes, but didn't have any outright jokes. It's about a young man's strange erotic journey from Milan to Minsk - I mean, through fairyland. It's a well-crafted story and it was easy for me to interpret it as a kind of coming-of-age allegory: meeting people who treat you badly, falling into cynicism, and needing rescue. But there was something big I didn't like about it.
