Visual Finance is a powerful, simple tool that you can learn in just a couple of hours and easily apply to real life. Over the past five years, this model has been used in thousands of “finance for non-financial managers” training sessions in more than 30 countries. Accounting is often perceived as being tedious, complicated, and too theoretical. Non-financial managers are less than enthusiastic about accounting. One possible cause is the way business schools teach it. In a recent study only 46% of respondents had average or higher financial literacy and could understand financial statements. Stop avoiding financial topics during team meetings. Save your company from making costly mistakes and start maximizing all your valuable opportunities.
This book is light reading compared to other financial books. It's easier to read, and shorter. It's also more up to date. Highly recommended for any business person or student. Key learnings: -- Understand the big business picture -- Analyze how cash flow and financial balance are affected by management decisions -- Understand and interpret financial statements
This MUST be read by those who are taking major in finance or accounting. This book simplified the basic concept in understanding accounting (finance and management) and also in finance management. But i don't really get the One Page Visual Model, maybe the author can describe the techniques more detailed.
Providing good basics for finance, especially for non-finance people. Though, the message that wanted to be delivered (one-page model) is not delivered nicely, or even not at all..
Recommended for people with little of not experience in the topic. If you do have previous experience it's a very helpful and practical book to remember basic and key points on the topic.
I have a Bachelor in Finance so this book is kind of basic for me. However it helped be to review vital information that I have forgotten. I recommend this book if you have little or not experience in finance topics. If you do have previous experience it's a very helpful and practical book to remember basic and key points on the topic.
An alternative teaching of an involved topic, aimed at beginners to learn financial statements and the fundamental accounting operations of a business. I appreciated the author's creativity in trying to explain financial and accounting concepts through illustrations. If you have sufficient experience in business, this book might be too beginner level and can be skipped. Early year business school students or employees who haven’t taken business schools seem to be the target audience.
This book is a good start for me (personally) to dig deeper about financial literacy. It explain important things in financial statement. But, if it comes to analyzing the financial statement itself, i think, is not comprehensive. So yeah, if you are clueless about financial statements of such companies, this book is great for you.
The "visual" part of this book is just doodles of objects and adds absolutely nothing to facilitate understanding. I'm a visual information designer whose entire job is to create visuals that help people learn complex technical subjects, and this is such a laughably bad excuse for such a thing.
It's a value packed book that helps clarify the necessary terms and measurements in accounting. The formatting can be confusing and some sentences and wordings are awkward. There are also a few typos and punctuation errors. Excellent book overall.
This was an ok read, but keep in mind it was also about accounting. I was hopeful because I like the idea. I learned some things, I was bored, I learned some more, I was bored again - it could just be the fact that it's on accounting and finance... so, worth it? Could use some edits and fixes.
This book is simple, has brief explanations and good illustrations, this is the first step for those who want to start learning finance. But not recommended for those that already understand financial basic
This book was a good introduction to finance. If you are rusty on your business finances it is a good refresher. I would recommend for anyone who is relatively green in financial concepts.
Great book. Couldn't put it down!It is a skillfully written narrative of the economic policies in the world's leading nations leading to the Great Depression with the Visual Finance.
Probably the only financial management book you need to read if you are a entrepreneur running a small business, not formally trained in financial management, and a visual learner.
Starts off really well but later just starts listing all the ratios and different terms. It became very dry. Also don't get the kindle version as its not formatted for that. The tables are all messed up to the point they are useless.
