My favorite volume so far. The manga is getting more hilarious with every new volume :D

Best Part of This Volume: Bro-romance between Miyamura and his middle school friend Shindou <3 It's been a while since I've seen such a strong friendship theme in a shujo/shounen manga.

Once again I must repeat, this isnt your ordinary shojo manga. It's a Shonen manga with Shojo feel and setting. I dont know whether you know or not but Shounen manga is targeted for boys so I think thats why there is no over-the-top drama, jealousy ridden love triangles, strange misunderstandings and melodramatic hero/ heroine (which is a characteristic of almost every Shoujo there is.) in this manga. Horimiya clicks with you because of its simple plotline and frank characters.

So all in all, it's not your typical shoujo. Well, considering because it's meant to be a shounen. But because it's not your typical shoujo, you might not like it. But it just depends on your taste on what you like. If you want another cheap soap drama manga this manga is probably not for you. If you want characters don't come of as stereotypically annoying and cliched, plot that isn't rushed, forced, predictable and repetitive, and the dialogue that isn't just simply retarded and ridiculous then definitely read this manga!! :)

So far, we've managed to avoid the most egregious, overused tropes in romance manga, so that's nice. The writing skirts close to it, sometimes, perhaps playing off of the reader's expectations. For example, in the episode at the end of the book where Hori has a fever, she does show some vulnerability in front of Miyamura that she would never show when completely lucid, but she doesn't turn into a whole different person or otherwise go out of character.
Hori-san, until you think "I don't want you here," or "I can't even stand to look at you," or "Just get lost," I'll be right here.
I like how Miyamura behaves differently around Shindou than he does around his high school classmates. And I also like how the story isn't obsessively focused on romance--it's a major factor, yes, but not the only one. In the case of our leads, we're dealing with the characters' internal pain, too: Miyamura's slow recovery from being socially isolated in early adolescence (hey, I feel ya there, kid), Hori's having to be the "the strong and responsible one" when it comes to taking care of her household. She's what, seventeen? She's attending school and getting high marks, taking care of her younger sibling, cooking and cleaning. It's a lot!

Horimiya is a lovely and enjoyable read. Hori and Miyamura's exchanges, as well as the rest of the cast's, felt quite genuine and frequently made me laugh or chuckle. Miyamura's repeated digs at Hori's aggressiveness or Miyamura's great aversion to horror movies never fail to make me laugh.

Once again, cute and steady character building with nice interactions and good dynamics. I liked how the pacing was not rushed and it slowly built up to that moment at the end that we've all been waiting for.

After watching the manga I know where this all leads and I feel like I've had my fill of the story now. So, by no fault of the manga, I think this is where I'll end my Horimiya journey.

Miyamura and Shindou's friendship is funny af xD I love the backstory they provided for Miyamura's character. It was sad to read how he was ostracized and bullied but I'm glad Shindou was there for him. (It was also so cute that a young Miyamura and Shindou crossed passed with young Hori and Sengoku) who would have thought that after a few years those four would become amazing friends.

I'm loving we're getting to see more of the side characters, and also more of the "gangster" side to Miyamura. The slow burn is killing but I'm also living for it?

If you guys ever want to read an extremely sweet and adorable romance manga, look up “Horimiya”
My absolute favorite thing about Horimiya is just how natural the relationship between Miyamura and Hori is. they’re a couple who acts exactly like one and they don't have the typical (and sometimes annoying) problems/tropes. I have never really seen a relationship portrayed so well like that and it’s so nice. Their relationship is just so oddly cute but urhghhh the little gestures they do makes me so so happy. The manga doesn’t just focus on Hori and Miyamura alone, but their relationship with friends and family as well which in my opinion is perfect. The characters are well built and so real!! You can relate to them all in multiple occasions.Hori and Miyamura are so cute :3 I love this manga sooo much <3

Get yourself into an embarrassing moment? That's fine, you have a perfect solution!

Hori is a girl after my own heart.

I really need them to confess their feelings (note: not love) to one another soon because I desperately hate drawn out waffling. I understand that as a inexperienced teenager this sort of thing seems SO monumental but ... just fucking talk to your crush, goddamn.

This is a great continuation of the series. I love that we get some secondary storylines with other characters, but our focus is still Hori and Miyamura. I love this series so much that I read all six books that are currently out in English in one weekend.

"I broke my mechanical pencil."

Quick thoughts: Another sweet, engaging volume. The characters coming to grips with their feelings, inc. jealousy, inadequacy, etc, is really well done.

Things get more hot and heavy with the two main leads while we get some fun time with other characters.

I really liked the background we got with Miyamura. Something I found interesting was the "bullying" came in the form of ignoring him. I dunno about you guys, but sometimes feeling alone and isolated can be as bad as getting pushed around. On top of that Hori is such a hard worker, and the way she pushes herself makes her an interesting match for Miyamura.

The stuff with the side characters was decent but almost felt like an afterthought. But once we get deeper into the series maybe that'll turn around.

This volume also had a few good humor moments. Especially when Miyamura flips out, pure gold in comedy.

A 4 out of 5.

3.5☆

[4 Stars] It was interesting seeing more backstory for Hori and Miyamura. They are so precious. I will protect at all cost. Also, Tooru's antics never get old.

A bit less extra scenes, but the ones that are there bring a lot more explanation to the other scenes. My fav in this volume is the part where Miyamura and Shindou are in middle school and are walking home, then they see Hori and Sengoku. I just think it's so cute to realise that they have actually already seen each other before.
