I like it, but it's still so hard for me to get over the age gap. I like the banter between the characters and both of their stubbornness. The characters are what keep me reading. The story just feels so wrong sometimes though! So conflicted!
Honestly really like this series so far, it’s funny, the art is good, I’m really enjoying it! The age gap is weird I must admit but I find myself forgetting about that a lot so I’m still having fun reading it. I’m definitely gonna read the entire series soon as I can
As this is a multi-volume series my opinion is also influenced by the previous volumes... And there may be references to the plot of those volumes... SO READ WITH CARE! Here is my review of volume one...
Hana is pressed into a marriage meeting with Takane, a scion of a business empire, impersonating her sister to save her father's job! Ready to put that fiasco behind her Hana is shocked that Takane actually seems interested in her! She is exasperated by his immaturity but intrigued despite herself at the fun she has as they try to outwit one another...
The premise of this series is quite impressive to me and I looked forward to reading this volume! I totally fell for Takane and Hana a second time too!! I did find the plot and tension quite different in this volume. I understand that the first volume was originally written as a one shot and then the mangaka got the opportunity to keep going (thank goodness!!) Well it was evident in this volume that she had to go back a little and establish some fears and angst for the series to work with. As a result some of the characters' crisp conflict was softened.
Yes, I still loved Takane's absurd asocial and self-centered personality! And Hana was still a great down-to-earth foil... but now its all powerfully serious. There were still fun exchanges like when Hana defends Takane to Nicola... "Takane's only good point is that he's not boring!" But I didn't gasp and laugh out loud quite as much. If this weren't so powerfully nuanced I probably wouldn't have noticed... as I enjoyed it immensely, but I can see that the mangaka needed this volume to set the story on a path that can endure... and I appreciate that she took the time to do that setup!
I LOVED how we got into some of the serious issues about their relationship... #1 - She's underage for marriage meetings and serious relationships. And #2 - Takane needs his grandfather's approval of her or their relationship won't fly. These are addressed in a pretty fascinating way that effects Hana deeply. Then Takane is tested and each interaction really showcased how much they both have already come to care about each other!! I also was excited to meet one of Takane's "people" and to see Hana's friends getting a little plot action...
Now for the AAAARRRRRRRTTTTTT!! I love their irritated expressions for each other! If you can believe it they are even better than in the first volume. The art is quite magical... yes, it is a typical manga art style... but the secret lies in how each frame is laid out and the contrast of the realistic moments to the funny and outrageous ones... I think the mangaka really killed the frames in this volume!! And there is nothing better then art that enhances a story to its fullest potential!
Volume 2 still made me happy and squeeeee and fangirl all over these two... yes, there has been some reorganization to deepen the conflict and development of Takane and Hana's relationship but I feel like we are in good hands! Yuki Shiwasu knew that changes needed to be made and swiftly and she took a volume to do so... Now I'm SUPER EXCITED FOR VOLUME 3!!
⋆⭐⭐⭐⭐ Authenticity ⋆⭐⭐⭐⭐ Tension ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Plot ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Art
BOTTOM LINE: Settle in for more of this couple doing... THEIR OWN ROMANCE THING in THEIR OWN WAY!
Thanks to Edelweiss and VIZ Media for providing me with a copy in exchange for an honest review. This has not influenced my opinion.

Hana is invited to a party hosted by the Takaba Group, but in order to attend she’ll need to be able to look and act the part of Takane’s mature, older girlfriend.
I enjoyed this volume more than the previous one, especially since it felt a lot less episodic, but I’m still not completely sold on this series. What’s keeping me from dropping it is the art and the personalities of the characters. I don’t come across many memorable strong female characters when it comes to manga, so when one comes my way I tend to want to continue. I also like that Takane is immature, but that this is something the other characters are very aware of. And the fact that the series is hyperaware of the large age gap is great, I think it handles the age difference a lot better than I’ve seen in other manga. I also do like the inclusion of Nicolo’s character, it's nice to see Takane has had friends at one point.
This honestly just feels like fun fluff and agree with the mangaka saying not to take the story too seriously because it really is simply a great time!
I'm not even fully sure what to say because this is like the perfect story to "turn off your brain" and just take each page as it comes because these two are absolutely hilarious together! I never know what new shenanigans will get or what kind of witty comeback will see. It's always a comedic surprise that leaves me so grateful for a fun series like this.
Despite the humor though, I really appreciate how Hana does tell Takane how she *really* feels. She might say things like him being boring (LOL), but Takane is surprisingly perceptive when something is on her mind. I really enjoyed seeing their conversation at the beach because it is like when will these two have a normal conversation, but at the same time, I don't want them to have a "normal" conversation because it's just so funny with their expressions! LOL!
With that said, I am also enjoying seeing things go in a slightly deeper direction because I really love these characters and I'm excited about the idea of getting to know them outside of their bickering. LOL!
Lastly, I will say that I can already feel myself on the fence because I could easily start shipping Okamoto and Hana, BUTTT! Things would be a lot less boring if Takane wasn't around. LOL!
So for now, I'll keep riding this humorous wave and see where this "couple" will take me next!
Still don't know whether to add this to my library's teen collection or not, but it was definitely a fun read, so there's that. I know I personally enjoyed it, but whether or not it's appropriate is the big question.
I like how the author’s notes explains this story was meant to be a loose plot with heavy focus on the characters’ personalities. Thats exactly the outcome, as the characters banter and general silliness brought me back for book 2.
I also appreciate this volume dropped the little one-shot backstory updates at the front of each chapter. I can only do so many individual chapters explaining what I had just read before getting over the explanation.
I confess I really wanted to read this second volume simply because I had enjoyed myself with the first one, now I regret not having taking the time to read it before. This was even better!
We continue following the story of Hana, who needs to pass for her sister to attend a marriage interview with this rich guy Takane. Who turns out to be how most rich shoujo protagonists are, a stuck-up, senseless, arrogant but super handsome man. In this volume, while they're still getting to know one another, Hana needs to fool Takane's grandfather and the high society, interpreting her early-twenties older sister. The things is she discovers their secret isn't so simple, for it would be a big scandal if people learned Takane is seeing a high-schooler. Later in the manga, we also meet who might be the love rival to Takane, his old friend Nicola.
Rivals have always put me off because their sole reason to be is to get in the way and earn the mangaka some chapters. But just like Takane and Hana's relationship brings nuances that make the outcomes to all clichés unexpected and funny (refer to my review to volume 1), Nicola was also a big surprise. He's everything you'd imagine him to be, but the story develops in a completely different direction.
About the main couple, oh my, can they be even more lovely! The more I read the more I see their chemistry develop. It's not the love-and-hate thing I thought I'd read from the summary. They do complement one another. Especially when it comes to Takane's shortcomings, Hana never gives him a break.
Hana is an interestingly funny protagonist who won't submit to any shoujo manga cliché thrown her way. I love her! Takane, on the other hand, continues to have to revise his attitude here and constantly fails in a super cute manner.
I loved this volume even more than the initial one!
Honest review based on an ARC provided by Edelweiss. Many thanks to the publisher for this opportunity.
The hate-to-love/will-they-wont-they/age-gap story continues. There are already 11 volumes in this series and I can already tell there will be little plot development. Competing love interests, threats of scandal, meddling loved ones will be thrown at the pair and they will have to deal with it, but ultimately they will continue to pretend to be irritated by each other but never break up. I think if this was by a better/funnier author I could read it, but I just felt like the stuff that happened in this volume was dumb. Like the chapter when Hana was irritated that Takane was wearing a disguise. By another author he would have worn a fake mustache or a bad wig. Something funny. There's nothing weird about wearing a hood, sunglasses, and a face mask.
Fancy parties, cherry blossoms, and stolen kisses - oh my! I love the way Takane and Hana bicker and tease each other. Neither one wants to admit that they actually like the other one for real, and it's just so CUTE. With Hana it makes sense because she's a high school girl, but shouldn't Takane know better? And suddenly a rival appears?!
The second volume flags a little bit. I'm still troubled by the 26-year-old man dating the 16-year-old girl, and this time the energy of the storytelling didn't tip the scales as strongly toward continuing with the series. I have library holds on the next two volumes so I'll wait to see how they go, but I could see letting this series fall by the wayside.
Okay, so this series is getting better and better. I am assuming because the author now wants to write it as more than a one shot. The characters are developing more, and I see trouble stirring. I love the new character that was brought on, and the dimension he had. I am very intrigued and need more asap!!
I was very surprised on how much I enjoyed this story but a lot of realistic situations came up and were handled nicely. I still cant believe a lovely dovey relationship is happening between a 16 year old and a 28 year old but ugh I guess I can work with it lol ...
This was another entertaining volume. The plot is really escalating. I think the reason it is so entertaining is because you can't tell if Takane and Hana really like each other or if it's just hatred. Either way the hating is really funny because it allows for good banter, but I wonder when the dynamics will change and when we will see them fall in love more. Either way I'm excited to continue with the next volume.
That an one crazy story. It's a total mess, but a funny one. It's just fun to see how Hana makes fun off Takane. Tho, not in a abad way, she just loves him overreacting. And he can act all tough ad shit, but he is so wrapped up around Hana's little finger it's not even funny. 3.5 stars
