I met Mr. Bankston through a student who was researching his story for a project. Wow! This great man has an incredible WWII story. His book is easy to read and appropriate for middle school and up. He gives lots of details and shares many photos. It’s a must read for any person interested in WWII in the Pacific and it’s effects.

I just started reading this book. I met the author John D. Bankston at the National WWII Museum in New Orleans. After speaking with him and his wife I knew I had to read his story and share it with the world.
