The Public Life of Our Lord Jesus Christ, by bishop Goodier, takes the subject of Christ's life from the coming of John the Baptist until his last day before Palm Sunday and the beginning of His passion. Goodier notes in his ""Hence in a work of this kind it has not seemed necessary to introduce any discussion concerning the four Evangelists, or the authenticity of their work. These have been examined and proved by writers far more skilled and learned than the author and he is content to accept their decision referring readers who would examine these sources to them. On the other hand, when accepting the Gospels, he accepts them wholly and entirely. It seems to him a futile attitude of mind to take a source as authentic, and then, almost entirely from internal evidence, to proceed to whittle it away."" About the author

Archbishop Alban Goodier was ordained a priest of the Society of Jesus on September 20, 1903. In December 15, 1919 he was appointed Archbishop of Bombay, India, and ordained on December 22. He served as Archbishop until October 1, 1926.

He was also a well-respected writer who contributed many articles to the magazine The Messenger of the Sacred Heart and wrote over a dozen books.

Completely amazing! It deepened my love and understanding of Our Lord in a way almost no other book has. Archbishop Goodier's love Christ and His love for each of us comes through on every page. I recommend this book and anything by Arch. Goodier to all who desire to draw closer to Christ.

In two volumes Alban Goodier interprets the life of Christ from the coming of John the Baptist up until his last days before the Passion by drawing from all four synoptic gospels. It makes fascinating reading.

Should've finished it last Lent. Several Lents ago, in fact. But worth the long stretch. Great writer, greatest subject of them all.
