Murder by the Bay by Tonya Kappes Blossom Bay shorts book 1. Cozy mystery. Julia has dreamed of Blossom Bay Inn for years and now she owns it. Unfortunately her dream of reopening the Inn is stalled by a dead body found in a closet.
Interesting very short cozy mystery. Told from third party view points of owner Julia, chef Priscilla and Detective Max in his scenes. Slightly confusing as to who is “talking” since these POV’s overlap in every paragraph and page.
Good premise and potential but it reads like a newsletter bonus for readers, written quickly and then forgotten. 2.5
This is a short mystery and a great intro into a brand new series. Due to the length of the story, I can't really do a full review but I will say this left me wanting more - which is a good thing. I think this series has great potential with interesting characters. As short as this story was, it is still filled with mystery, a potential romance and great characters. I'll definitely be reading the second one. It's already on my Kindle.

A new author and a cute series. Happy reading and have fun 🌙
Murder by the Bay by Tonya Kappes is the first book in her new short stories series, Blossom Bay. It is a short story at around 30 pages but still manages to tell an enjoyable story and set up the town of Blossom Bay. I enjoyed the quirky characters that played a role in this story. I am looking forward to the next installment.
I purchased this book for my reading pleasure. My review is fair and not influenced in any way.
This is the first story in a new series. I loved this quick, fun read. The characters were easy to connect with and left me anxious to read more about Blossom Bay.
If you are looking for a quick, fun read definitely check this story out.
Loved this first in a series of short stories. So fun and entertaining! I will definitely be reading the others in the series and enjoying getting to know the characters in this series!
Julia France has always dreamed of owning a B&B Inn. When she sees this inn for sale, she just knows that is the one in her dream and she must have it. Due to complications, Julia is late in getting ownership of the property and is busy cleaning it before her first guests arrive. While looking for cleaning supplies, she finds a dead body! Now Detective Max Winston won't let her clean! Oh no! The guests are here! Will everything work out? What will they think of when they see a dead body and the state of the inn? There are more surprises in this short story! I voluntarily reviewed a free copy of it.
This was a really enjoyable little story that I recently found again. I knew the author had started a series of short stories some years back but never had a chance to explore. The only other book in this series is a romance and has nothing to do with these characters.
I sure wish the series had continued and included more mysteries with the B&B. But it's ok since we can use our imaginations to figure what'll happen next for Julia and her chef, Priscilla. Short books are good little gems sometimes and this was no exception. There was a cool twist at the end I didn't see coming! I'm glad I grabbed it from KU for a nice, quick read.
This book will take you less than an hour to read and it's a short murder mystery.
Tonya is known for her heartwarming characters set in charming locations, and this is completely that!
Julia France has dreamed her whole life about an old house that she turns into a B&B. Of course there's a body and of course it gets solved in the end, but it's a sweet little read if you have the time.
It's clean, easy to read and recommended to any age.
I know this is meant to be a short story but a lot of things I think could have added to the plot were missing due to it being way too short. This was cute and has potential but would have been so much better if it was longer. I would love to read it again with the plot and characters fully fleshed out.
It’s a good quick read. But it was quick, I think it could have been a bit more detailed. There were two grammatical things that could be fixed. I think I’d like to read more about the characters and the inn.
Julia opens up her dream bed and breakfast only to find a murdered man on her first day! A quick short story that makes you want to read more stories about Blossom Bay!
Julia France had a dream of owning a bed and breakfast. When she saw the abandoned Inn on the hill in Blossom Bay, she knew this was Fate. The only thing she didn't bargain for was the body hanging in the closet. What will happen next?
It's a really easy read and enjoyable. I like books that I can read in a very short period of the. Don't get me wrong I have loved every Tonya Kappes book I've read.
Very intriguing story line and I can’t wait to read the next book. I would be very drawn to hidden treasure, secret rooms and passages all very fascinating in an old house.
