Rayne is a trusted and valued member of Baxter Security. He works on the compound with Family Security. An accident has him wheelchair bound until his new metal parts fuse with his body. It doesn't take long before he's up and walking with the help of Mitch's technology. Getting back to a life without the chair and robotic brace seems so far away and has him questioning whether he will ever return to the job he loves.
Carolina literally falls into his world and gives him no chance to think about his limitations. His split second decision throws him in the hero role once again showing him his value to the Baxters and Carolina.
A plan to have Mitch taken by a family member has the Baxters partnering with the MC. Rayne proves his ability to step into any job and preform it well but Security is where he shines. He gets his chance to show his ability when he's partnered with Rich LaPonte. The MC's second in High Security.
Carolina is the good girl, politician’s daughter that always followed her father’s rules. When she overhears a meeting her world crumbles. He is not the man she thought he was. Greed and a blatant disregard for human life has her showing herself and jeopardizing her own life. Carolina doesn't understand just how far her father will go to protect his secrets from the American people.
With Mitch's help Carolina finds a way to stop her father but it will take Rayne and the MC to keep them safe while they set their plans in motion.
Rayne shows Carolina just what she's bringing to the table and he makes sure she knows he wants it. He builds her up hoping for the perfect partner in his sometimes twisted sexual exploits and rope artistry.

L. Ann started with the Baxters and followed that with multiple series and genres. While her books feature paranormal, FBI, ex-military and Badass Bikers, L. Ann is writing about the strong women that these men need in their life to help right the world's wrongs and keep their small part of the world safe. The women are extraordinary, strong and determined to make a difference.
The men fight for right in every book. Yes, they kill people. Yes, the MC shoots at the bad guys’ feet to cause them pain. Yes, some throw tampons at each other regularly.
That being said, they do these things while stopping human trafficking and experimentation, bringing their world into legitimate businesses, fighting gangs to keep drugs away from their town and kids, keep women sheltered safely while trying to stop domestic abuse. These are men that don’t leave a pack, Team member or Brother behind. They don’t treat women as possessions and they don’t cheat. Respect takes on an honorable meaning. Women and kids are cherished. Everyone is looked out for and everyone is equal.
L. Ann has made amazing worlds, tackled the taboo subjects and made it easy to imagine living in a world where your protection comes from the vampires, shifters, freaky kids, albinos and orientals, military turned FBI and some Badass Bikers.
With readers writing about rereading the series over and over, she feels like she’s told her characters’ stories in a way that would make them proud.
Every book will make you laugh, every book will make you angry for the wrong that happens in the world. Every book will make you cry for the pain that a character feels. Every book gives you hope that we may just get it right yet

I first started by reading MC: Knight and then realised that I wanted the whole story and that started with the Baxter's .. although the first books didn't have a lot of crossovers they did set the scene for what is to come in the other books as the stories move along so their importance to the series' as a whole cannot be overstated

I have just read the 22 books to date back to back in the order published on the author's website and decided to review them as a whole. I really don't think they stand well as stand alones as there are too many common threads, too much history and too much character crossover for that so it really is one (very) long story over a very long period of time with each series concentrating on a particular character group but including all of the others (except for the initial Baxter books which didn't have a lot of MC action but did set the scene for a lot of what is to come).

I loved every book although of course some more than others but i am giving an overall five star rating. My biggest issue was that sometimes (often) i found it difficult to be sure exactly who was talking and had to reread sections to try to work it out. I think that perhaps what the author is seeing in her head moves a bit too fast to translate well to the written word for some of us (something like the thoughts of some of her characters - you need to read the stories to understand my thought process here!!)

My other issue was keeping my head straight with the cast of thousands (and this is not an exaggeration) ... with each story building on to what has come before and what will come to be and with most characters continuing to play a place in each consecutive story I found myself constantly stopping to think - now who was that, whose child is that, whose partner is that???? but even amongst that confusion I loved the relationships and the strengths they provided.

The author has an amazing imagination and has brought to the table a fantastic story that i will continue to read and at some point will def read again. I have always loved and had an interest in native american philosophy and also in paranormal and psychic connections and love the way these are ingrained into the books as the stories unfold.

Although there were some things that caused me slight annoyances I cannot deny that as a whole this fits as one of the best series i have enjoyed. my thanks to the author for providing such a thoroughly engaging tale

Loved it

Loved Rayne, he is so like Knight. Loved Rayne and Carolina's story.
Mild BDSM, rope play, and D/s.

Carolina is the daughter of a popular, but dirty Senator. When she over hears his plot against the Baxter family, he turns her over to his security team to deal with her. Beaten, raped and dumped in a lake on Baxter land she is rescued by Rayne.

Rayne was critically inured protecting Samantha and her unborn baby. While he appreciates the support of his family at Baxter Security, it is becoming oppressive.

When Carolina regains consciousness, she has no memory of what happened. She feels safe with Rayne, so she is set up at his house to recover. When she regains her memory, she will do all she can to bring her father and is associate Nate Baxter to Justice.

Rayne and Carolina are drawn together. Tessa says they belong together. Mitch and Carolina become fast friends and are soon working together on the hologram project.
Once again the Baxter and MCs are under attack. Betrayal hits them both hard. It also brings them together. The Baxter's and the MC's decide to combined their security. Making Rich and Rayne partners in the number two spot in HS. This merging is Tess and Christian approved.

Loved the take down of Carolina's father. Jessie James-LePointe has his chance to shine. The original little brothers are all grown up now.

Another absolutely awesome book from L Ann. The Baxters and Mc all entwine in this book. Badass Rayne rescues Carolina when she is beaten and abused by people who are supposed to luv and protect her. He shows her alongside the Baxters and Mc just what she's worth. Slowly bringing her confidence and self esteem back. As usual there is lots of twists and turns and some characters made me so mad I had to remind myself it's a book. Lol. Rayne's a hot and sexy Alpha albeit a quiet one. There's a twist in the story which keeps you on your toes. Luved all the characters but Jamie was my favourite but have to say Rayne and Jake share top spot now. This is a definite must read series Altho I recommend you read them In order to fully appreciate this book.

BAXTERS: RAYNE
Rayne is on a leisurely ride, minding his own business when he sees a body fly through the air and land in the water. Naturally, our hero saves the damsel in distress. It seems that someone really wanted her dead! All L.Ann Marie’s books have an element of suspense to them. Rayne is no different. The Baxters and the MC work hard to eliminate the threat. Packed with action and romance, Rayne is one book you won’t be able to put down!

I am so in love with all the men in the Baxters series.

I have enjoyed learning about all the Baxters and their employees /family. This group is so loving and caring towards all that are loyal to them and their women, don't even think of stepping out of line with them. I loved this senile series and have no complaints. Each book has different challenges with a mix of old and new characters that just blend so well. Can not wait for the next one. Highly recommend.

Good!

I don’t want to put a spoiler in this review so I’ll just say I loved it, especially the unity that we see. Also loved Carolina and Rayne and seeing someone with extra abilities outside the MC. Can’t wait to read more.

Refreshing

This was a lot more like the original stories. Plot with smut, rather than smut with a sprinkling of story like book 4.

The pace of the story was great

Rayne is awesome

Omg these books just keep getting better and better! Rayne is a great guy who has had a big challenge thrown at him and all of a sudden in drops Carolina. These two are great together and we get to see another amazing couple and the beginning of the Baxter/MC integration. Love the Shibari in the story and seeing how more of the Baxters work.

Another fantastic addition to the series!

I loved Rayne and Carolina’s story. There is so much that goes on in this book. My heart broke over Micah but was getting the same vibe reading...all I’m going to say. Rayne’s recovery was remarkable and Lina’s recovery heart wrenching. She is such a strong personal and so full of love. I do love that she goes to work for Mitch and she makes the holograms awesome! The Baxter/MC merger was absolutely hilarious! I love seeing both sides of the groups. I absolutely love this series and these characters.
