Audiobook - Eight parts - 24:10 Hours total

The use of four different authors for the eight parts of the box set resulted in discernible anomalies in the development of the stories and I have decided, finally, that there is simply too much "romance" in this 'series' for my taste, so I am declaring a "DNF".

I was aware from the beginning that the box set parts are all written by women and narrated by a woman and the romance content is written from a female perspective. While this didn't disturb me as such, eventually the extended descriptions of male "shoulders, arms, torsos, muscles, legs, lovemaking, etc.", did become bit boring.

Decent story but soooo drawn, repetitive and very unrealistic. The author needs to work someone in law enforcement as much of what occurred could never happen. The MC (h) constantly lost it and could never be a FBI Agent. She has a primary member of the 'team' who is consorting with a person who belonged to the villain but she decides that it doesn't mean anything so she ignores it.

I did enjoy a portion of the story but skipped 50% of the last two hours as it just kept going. It was just too OTT!

A rollar coaster of a thriller series that pits a maniacal criminal, Andrew Moretti, against the detective, Lara Grant, who went undercover to put him in jail. I listened to this on audiobook, which I would highly recommend.

I was provided a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest and fair review. This is an 8 part series about FBI Special Agent Laura Grant. Laura recently went undercover within the Moretti crime syndicate and was able to make it all the way to the top, arresting Moretti and cutting the head off this particular snake. The undercover operation took a lot out of her though, more than she can really admit to anyone, especially her new team with the FBI. Her new partner Nick Delano doesn’t realize how badly scarred Lara is after this last assignment, but his sexy good looks bring her aroung to trusting him in the end. And when Moretti starts coordinating attacks on/near Lara from inside prison, Lara’s whole team must come together to put a stop to it.
Overall I liked this series. The plot line for this series was so interesting and there were some great plot twists. Some of the plot twists I kind of saw coming but they were still really good. I also thought it was really great that even though the series was written by 4 different authors it was still a cohesive story line and the plot line flowed well in between the books. That being said there were some things I didn’t love about the books. There were some holes in the story line and things that were introduced with the other characters that I’m not sure if they’re supposed to lead to another series or if they were just not followed up on. Also, similar to my issue with Rizzoli from The Surgeon series, I didn’t like that Lara was so insecure but also thought she was the coolest thing at the same time. And she broke some rules along the way which I also didn’t like. And her life was just so sad, the last book especially was heart-breaking. I still really liked the series overall though, it was an easy read (the books were shorter than a normal size book and the chapters were nice and short) and I would recommend it.

I struggled to put this book down each night I kept wanting to know what happened next. I thoroughly enjoyed reading parts 1 to 8. I would definitely read more from this author and I would recommend this book to anyone who likes a good story. My rating is a definite 5 star.

This audiobook takes the listeners through a rollercoaster ride.

Part 1:
Now that the Moretti case is over, or so she thought, Lara has finally left her undercover job . Ready to start a new one in NYC, she never expected to be targeted and once again in the midst of danger.
Part 2:
Explosions and an apparent serial bomber is creating havoc. People are getting killed . In the midst of all the twists and turns, Lara is also trying to find who killed her mother.
PART 3:
In this installment, the CMU (Crisis Management Unit) team is not only looking for the serial killer, but also being targeted. Is one of the victim or the culprit?
Part 4:
The tension intensifies. The Selfie Guy , kidnapped by the bomber, has a bomb strapped to his chest. Who can be trusted to find the bomber and safe the victim?
Part 5:
The Victim is rescued but the CMU team is in danger. Wanting to protect the team, Lara finds herself in danger as well.
Part 6:
Lara puts herself on the line when she goes out as the lone wolf. What can go wrong goes wrong.
Part 7:
The tension continues . Lara is missing , but her team is not sure if she is really in danger or following her usual MO.
Little does CMU know that Lara is fighting the captor and another bomb can detonate any moment.
Part 8:
Wow, all comes to volition. Trust amongst the CMU team is fragile. But can they finally catch the evil bomber ? Will Lara survive the bomber and her past?

If like me, the listener doesn’t like cliffhangers, listening to the entire series at one time is the best way to go.
Kudos to the authors for creating a storyline that ran smoothly between parts.
Therese Plummer does a very good narration of the various parts and characters.

FBI Special Agent Lara Grant had been hoping to start a new life in New York, leaving the pain and fear of her last assignment far behind. Unfortunately that isn't to be. Not only is her identity spread across the television airwaves, but it appears that her case might not be as completed as she and the Bureau had hoped. Bodies are showing up with the gang's tattoos.

I have to confess that I do not like multi-author series. And I HATE cliff-hangers! I was sent this set free of charge from Carina to read. Sadly they sent a Pdf copy which doesn't work well with either of my ereaders, Sony or Kindle, so I had to read on the computer. Which always gives me a headache.

The setup is like a television series, with this being Season 1. I see that there is already a Season 2 listed. The entire set is eight novellas totally a little over 400 pages in Pdf form. Not the first series that I've seen go for this style of Seasons. Always makes me think someone is trying too hard to be cute.

I can see that this would appeal to many people, but despite my best efforts, it wasn't for me. I was actually surprised as this is usually my catnip, police procedurals with a team you get to know and love. It reminded me in many ways of CRIMINAL MINDS, even to their techie's description. A series I rarely watched despite Shemar Moore. I made it through about a third of the set before I gave up. I gave it a 3 out of 5 simply because the writing isn't bad, it just wasn't a series I want to continue.

Tough Justice Countdown Complete Collection is an 8 part box set written by 4 different female authors. I wasn’t sure how this format would work with multiple authors but I really enjoyed it. They all wrote with the same voice and moved the story along.

This fast paced story about the FBI’s Crisis Management Unit in Manhattan kept my interest.

Parts 3 & 7 written by Tyler Anne Snell
Parts 4 & 6 written by Emmy Curtis
Parts 5 & 8 written by Janie Crouch

All parts are narrated by Annalee Scott who did an excellent job with the narration.

This was the longest audio book collection I’ve listened to at just over 24 hours.

This series box set takes place in eight parts. It follows Lara Grant~Special Agent for the FBI working with a new team. Lara is sent to talk a jumper down but she'd rather be anywhere else besides here. Lara is told that The Moretti Crime Syndicate is operating once more. Lara thought she left the past behind but nothing could be further from the truth. Now it's a race against the clock while diving into Lara's past. Can Lara stop this madness? Is The Moretti Crime Syndicate active? Your answers await you in Tough Justice Series Box Set: Parts 1-8. All of the author's in this box set were new to me. I really enjoyed this book and would read something from each of these authors in the future. On par with J.D. Robb in my opinion.
