Adapt: Love and survival in a devastated world

A huge asteroid explodes and the entire earth is devastated. Jeff and Jen, co-workers, are among the twenty percent that have survived. The violent explosion has altered the earth's orbit and it is now in the shadow of Venus for three months of the year. It is cold and dark and their very survival is in jeopardy. They have each other and nothing else. Their affection grows as their worldly comforts disappear. They succeed in contacting the other members of their office who have survived. They are rescued and taken to live in an underground cavern. They have few provisions and everything is rationed. Their old way of life is gone and they must adapt or die. Then they are attacked by Felix Murchison and his band of vicious thieves and cutthroats who have survived the explosion and want to take the few things they do have.
