This book is not a page-turner nor particularly fun reading. However, it does provide instruction for ways schools and school districts can use their data to improve student learning. The chapter on a vision for using data, and the description of data that will improve teaching and learning were most helpful to me. I'm just not into the technical side of creating a data warehouse even though I understand that it is necessary to get the results. This book is a bit dated now (copyright 2007), with references to No Child Left Behind. Nevertheless, the principles still apply.
