Tales of horror from one of the masters of the genre. Peter Meredith delivers stories that will keep you devouring them one after another. From the Pen—a gift that just keeps on killing, to The Eyes in the Storm—a beast that feeds on those who dare to go out when nature is at its cruelest, to The Haunting at Red Feathers—a true haunting that has the young couple trapped in the woods with a demonic presence, "Don't let the night catch me here!" Seven tales in all come from the bloody Butcher’s Block! What the readers say about Tales From The Butcher’s "No frills, just raw and earnest fear." "Fun and scary, it will have you turning the pages to see if she gets it in the end..." "This has everything I love in a good interesting characters, vivid details, solid pacing, and a unique, fascinating premise."
Peter Meredith is the multi-genre author of an author of 35 novels in a variety of genres: Horror, zombies, post-apocalypse and Fantasy. Some of his creative work includes The Trilogy of Void, The Hidden Lands series, The Sacrificial Daughter, A Perfect America, Sprite and The Apocalypse Undead World. Having tried his hand in real estate, as an emergency room nurse, and a CEO of a national lighting company, he has come to find that his true addiction is as an author.
Writing stories can expose an author in ways that few understand. Writing true stories is akin to bearing one's soul. There are two such stories in this work.
I was so creeped out by this collection of short stories that I was a little afraid at night. Absolutely awesome book if you are looking for a bit of a scare.
Absolutely LOVED this book. Especially `The Pen`!!!! How a male author can actually understand and portray the attitudes of today's `stuck-up` women is beyond me!!!! Not all beautiful women are as bad as Jen, but they ARE out there. He portrayed them with such accuracy, Peter must seriously be in touch with his feminine side!!!!!! ------ That's for all of those who left negative reviews about `The Pen`, without understanding that IT IS A FICTIONAL STORY!!!! If he was to write a book proclaiming that most blond hair, blue eyed, twenty-something's were no-sexual and they ALL wore their granny's panties, do you think people would leave negative reviews and claim that the author was homophobic and had lost the plot???? NO! Why??? BECAUSE IT'S A FICTIONAL STORY WITH FICTIONAL CHARACTERS!!!!! Jeeeezzzzzuuuusss!!!!!! Get a life..... LOL!!!!
I also extremely liked the story regarding Jellybean! Us gotta love that girl!!!! Thanks, Peter, for the heads-up at the beginning of book eight!!!! Well done, mate!!!! Mike Hansen, Nuneaton, England michael.hansen3@ntlworld.com
I thoroughly enjoy any writings from Peter Meredith. I do have to say that the only reason I got this book to read is to read up on Jillybean’s adventure between book 7 and book 8 of the undead series and much to my disappointment the short story was not included in the download of the tales from the Butcher Block. I was directed to this book by the Author’s direction at the end of book 7. I don’t understand what happened but if anyone has any suggestions, please send them my way. Thank you.
I was really surprised at this book...It was almost as if this was written my someone completely different than Peter Meredith! As awesome as the Undead Series is (I decided to get this book because of the one story that has Jillybean in it) This book was a real disappointment to me...I didn't care for not one of the stories except for Jillybean and the witch....I guess Mr Meredith must have hit his stride when he started writing about the apocalypse!!!
These short stories are seriously pretty good. I do have a couple of favorites though. Of course Jillybean is in there and Red Feather Lake.. I appreciated the Red Feather Lake story because it struck a chord with me as I have had a similar story and once you do you are never the same. So if you dare pick up the book and read..just don’t do it in the dark..
I really enjoyed all the stories in this book. I would love to read more about the creepy house that makes people forget you. The true scary story about camping really had my attention. I try not to leave spoilers about books & I leave reviews because I know it helps the authors even though I'm bad at reviews. Just read the book. It's worth it.
I’m not gonna lie. I read this just to get to the part with jillibean. It was worth the read to get to the end. Once again the pint sized warrior doesn’t fail to surprise you from one page to the next
I enjoy anthologies of short stories, especially if horror. A little earthy of language, but not too bad. Thought one of the stories was going to relate to a different series, but not so much.
I really enjoyed this collection of short stories. As a fan of the Undead World series, I really wanted to read this book to see what happened to Jillybean and the author didn't disappoint. I wasn't expecting to like the other stories as much but I did, especially the first story in the book. It was truly horrifying and gruesome, my kind of story for sure.
I thought that it was a short story about jellybean (Undead World) but instead it is 3 short stories where one of them was about jellybean (the last story). The two other stories is ok but I wished that someone told me that there was two other stories before I begain reading them
I love jilly bean. She is by far the best character ever written!! This is a fantastic collection of short stories. The pen was epic. Peter really nailed the `up herself` female character. I love all Peters books if you are new to him then this is the perfect place to start.
The variety of the stories was a fun read. The story of Jillybean was much appreciated though I do hope she heals enough now that she has Ippes back that she can return to see Neal, Sadie and the Captain.
A good read, and the majority of the stories were good enough to encourage you to continue to read. Only one story really sucked. The rest were outstanding. Now, you want me to name the ducky story? Nope. You read them and find it yourself ,,,,,,,,I did.
