Description: 40-something professor Zae Richardson, never expected to find love again after the death of her beloved husband, but her hunky, blond dojo trainer, 30-something, Chip, might give the feisty widow a new lease on life. This is the follow-up to [[ASIN:B005OKPEAC Burn (Indigo)]].
The Good: Ms. Hubbard is a very funny writer, and there were many laugh out loud moments in this book. I really enjoyed BURN, and loved catching up with Gian and Cinder as they pursued adoption. The side characters were well-drawn and engaging. And the ending was really great. Also, there was a lot of English major fan service. If you love literature or were an English major, you’re going to really appreciate this novel.
The Bad: Unfortunately the book took quite a while to get started. The narrative felt more like a series of swollen anecdotal scenes than a story with a strong, driving plot. For example, music is introduced as a hobby for both characters way late in the novel, then there are a few tangential scenes before we really get back to the main story. The narrative also suffers from quite a few talking head scenes and a saggy middle that seems to mark time until we get to the much more well-crafted ending. In general the story felt scattered and could have benefited from stronger editing.
The Naughty: Sensual.
Editing issues: Minor. One typo found.

I really couldn't get into this story. The only thing that kept me reading is needing a Z for my IR A To Z reading challenge. Zae is an English Professor and Chip is an ex military turned karate instructor. She has been a student in his class for years that has forged a close friendship. Eventually this changes because this is a romance novel.
This is a slight "cougar" novel but the age difference is not that much. The age difference is brought up a lot and it's negligible at best. The ending irked because it screamed . The ending also made me realize why I had such a hard time getting into this. The heroine is very annoying and not really likable. The writing is fine for the most part and this might be a personal issue related only to me. Maybe someone else might find her personality quirks cute as intended.

Everything in Between is the sequel/spin-off of Hubbard's Burn, following the love interest/romantic development between Chip Kish and Zae Richardson.
In comparison, Everything in Between was a much more believable and better developed novel than it's predecessor. Readers who enjoy friends to lovers situations will be gratified to find another interracial romance based on just such a scenario. There was much talk about the approximate 10 year age difference in this book between the two main characters, but almost no real discussion about the the interracial aspect of their romance. There was also the quintessential villian, who as happened in the first novel, gets his comeuppance in a highly unlikely, and somewhat unnecessary fashion.
Everything in Between is adequately developed to be a standalone romance. I would recommend skipping Burn and going straight for this work.

I fell in love with Chip and Zae in the first book Burn about their friends Gian and Cinder, but unfortunately this book didn't make me love them more... but at least I don't hate them.
Chip and Zae have been friends for a long time. He's her martial arts instructor... she was always a sassy, strong minded woman who just did things to Chip, but their relationship never went pass the friendship stage until the wedding of their best friends Gian and Cinder.
Chip's feeling for Zae developed even stronger after their first night together but Zae had issues of her own when it came to building a relationship with Chip, maily the fear of losing him like she did her first husband.
I enjoyed the development of their relationship in this book though Zae annoyed me sometimes with her sassy attitude that Chip loved so much about her... and I couldn't stand her daughter Dawn, who's rudeness is beyond any thing anyone should have allowed... but other then that, it was a cute story... a lot of drama with someoene almost dying and lots of loving, which is always good in a romance.

The first couple chapters of this book, where Chip & Zae are in the wedding party for their friends and how they came together that night, were exquisite. Yes, there was a little suspension of belief necessary with the two of them being friends for 9 years but never seeing each other "that way" until then, but it still worked. Because Chip was already so much a part of her life and the life of her three kids, there wasn't too much drama in the way of being accepted by the kids and the focus was more on the slightly older Zae accepting a real relationship with Chip. But Zae did a great job of being there for her without pressing her. This is definitely a book I will be reading again in the future.

I finally broke down and got the kindle version since it seemed like I was never going to get the paperback I ordered for some reason. I really enjoyed this book. I thought the romance between Chip & Zae was well done. I am not usually one to read books with kids from previous relationships but I thought the author wrote the relationships very well so I was never itching to skip over those scenes. Would like to have seen the double surprise play out to the very end but that was really the only gripe I had. Totally would recommend.
I know the author said this would be her last romance book. Do anyone know if she's got anything coming out soon in another genre or is she done writing period?

A wonderfully ENTERTAINING sequel to Mrs. Hubbard's novel Burn...and I'm in TOTAL agreement w/the other reviewer...I ENJOYED this one so much more than BURN...the humor is DEFINITELY back with this one...lol...Chip and Zae's chemistry is OFF-THE-CHARTS...I LOVE the fact they've been friends for along time...yet still as they venture into this budding relationship they discover many new and INTRIGUING things about one another...the full cast is COLORFUL and lively...I laughed, sighed, cried and cheered...KUDOs once again, Mrs. Hubbard!

This is the follow up story to the story "BURN" but could be read by itself. I read its predecessor "BURN" I figured out the two characters Zae and Chip were going to end up together. When they finally got together after wedding I felt like Zae's bestfriend thinking its about time. They spent YEARS together hanging out together even with Chip participating in her kids lives in a fatherly role. All of the ins and out makes this a refreshingly real love story especially when you get with some who already has children. The book was written well and enjoyable read .

I loved this book.
This is a stand alone book. However, Burn was the first book that introduced these characters.
Zae Richardson is a kick ass character. She was strong and she owned it. There wasn't mean it was more getting it done. I felt sorry for Chip at first because I just knew he could not handle her. You rooted for these characters. The secondary characters enhance the story and made you understand the story better. They made you laugh...I love smart a@# characters...this book had plenty of them.

4 stars. I totally enjoy this book. But Zae's daughter, boy I wanted to slap her silly, her mouth was beyond the worst. I understand that her dad died, but come one, to be rude and obnoxious, she was know longer a teenager, she was a dayum adult. Overall it was a great story, and the love he had for her, didn't surprise me that he wanted more, but because Zae didn't want to feel loved again, after her husband passed away. It was understandable. Bravo to another of my fav authors. Great story.

May 4, 2014I call books like these dessert books because they are usually so much lighter than the books I normally choose to read. Mrs. Hubbard's work was a delight to read. There were a few dessert moments but they did not comprise the entire volume. I loved the wit and strength of her characters. I closed the book wanting to revisit the beginning again which means this book will stay in the collection. Definitely a Good Read.

What A Match!!
I really enjoyed Zae and Chip's story. Fear can lead us to do many things. Fear almost cost Zae the man who loved and adored her. I enjoyed their journey. The romance, drama and humor made for a great book. Loved the hair brushing scene. Enjoyed the moments with CJ and Chip. Laughed and cried when Zae and Cinder's pregnancies were revealed. I can only imagine Sionne running!

I couldnt really get into this story, I love Ms. Crystal Hubbard but this book did not spark any interest in me. The characters seemed a little too stiff. I wanted so much to love this book but it was a miss for me. I gave it 3stars because she is a great author.

This is actually a loose sequal to "Burn" but can be read alone. I enjoyed these two character from the previous book and really enjoyed how Zay and Chip came together in this one. They are fun and interesting characters, people you would like to know and call friends.

I just love Crystal Hubbard. She always delivers a more balanced deeper emotionally invested sexy IR than the usual insta love, sex marathons IRs that are certainly steamy but don't leave you with that happy "I just read a wonderful book" after glow ;)

Okay, this went way, way off the rails towards the end; but the friendship-to-romance, familial issues, and social issues made up for it. It also doesn't hurt that Zae is a really fun character. She flawed, nuanced and funny. I really enjoyed her in Burn, and that didn't change here.

This was the sequel to Burn and I like it more than Burn. I loved all the characters. Very good book, Zae's kids were a hoot.

5 happy continuations. I've heard actions speak louder than words, but when your blind to actions words are all you have. Zae learned this lesson the hard way.

I just finshed and i loved how Chip and Zea became friends before they became lovers. But i also felt the pain that Zea went through from her lose of her husban. best book so far!
