Neala's life hangs in the balance as she's forced to return to Stelgad with Skelly and face Shiva's justice alone. Renn, a faithful paladin of Aysha has agreed to help Lusam rescue Neala, but the only way they have a chance of arriving at Stelgad before Neala and her captor, is by travelling directly through The Dark Forest. A forest full of dark magic and dangerous secrets from the time of the Dragon-Mage Wars of old. Lusam finds himself hunted remorselessly by the dark agents of the Empire during his quest to save the newly-found love of his life from her grisly fate. Renn reveals a startling secret that challenges everything Lusam thought he ever knew about himself and his family. For countless millennia the Gods have remained silent, but now they stir once again, and Lusam discovers his destiny may be more entwined with them than he could ever have possibly imagined.
A very unique series that will keep you entralled throughout! It has everything mystery, intrigue, laughter, lots of magic and action, along with love. You will want to keep reading and not put it down. I usually read in one sitting. As I did with this one, I start at 2100 (9pm) and didn't stop til I was finished. I highly recommend this series. Great Readin Everyone!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Finished the first two books as part of a packaged bundle on Audible and while the book(s) aren’t phenomenal they aren’t bad either. My biggest thought is that they should not be individual books at all. If the other books continue in the same way, they should all be combined and edited down to single novel. Maybe they were released this way for some reason I missed but as stand alone pieces they’re disappointing. The story is interesting enough but could use some better pacing and a more show than tell in several places.
As y oh continually get drawn in to Lusam's story, you get to understand the works behind why he is so important . Also how far the empire will go to kill him. You also learn more of the impossible task he has in front of him, but also that he has a few tricks up his selves even be didn't know he had.
This series was an impromptu selection and I am glad to have chosen it. Although this has the feel of YA, the story is interesting and moves along well. Character and world-building could be a little stronger, but otherwise no complaints. Well-edited which makes the tale even more enjoyable.
This book is the continuing story of Lusam, a young mage, who is quickly gaining a lot of experience using his magic because of his enemies attempting to capture or kill him.
A more exciting, intriguing book than the first one. Lusam and his new ally, Renn, must rescue Neala. Hot on their heels is the antagonistic organization intent on wiping out all mages. Can Lusam and Renn rescue Neala and evade those that are trying to kill him?
As with book one, this was a decent story but honestly somewhere just north of 3.5 stars is more accurate, in my opinion at least. I have no doubt that I'll come back for book 3 sooner or later.
Why did a god turn into a wolf get hurt and then proceed to make a dramatic entrance just so our main character can have a nonchalant attitude and be like ok so i have a destiny cool

I enjoy reading the tale of Lusam and his peers, but I have to say that the basic grammatical errors are a little annoying. Kind of like a gnat flying in your face. Besides that, I cannot wait to read the next book and to continue following along the journey!
I don't usually like YA fantasy; because it always seem too childish to me. Although this story has its moments; it doesn't distract me and I can still enjoy the book. Waiting for book three!!
I look for a clean book without smut. Just a great adventure store, some magic, and some danger. I think this book is good enough for me to buy the third one.
The action moves well and the primary character develops - awkwardly but he does develop. I like the cast of support I Nguyen characters. The chief villain is perhaps a bit too 'twirling his moustache' cliche but passable.
Susan: The Dragon Mage Wars Book Two by Dean Cadman
This book was fantastic ! It kept me reading non stop from beginning to end. I love books full of magic and danger with a touch of romance. This series and book have all three !
Looks like I was wrong about renn he is good and I like his character..I was a little disappointed with the pace an that it took so long to free nealy ,but overall I liked the book.
A very entertaining YA book, a good 3 1/2 star rating for Adult readers. I will not penalize it for the over done juvenile humor and implausible plot loopholes because I am not the target audience for this book / series.
