بشری رحمن سے یہ میرا پہلا تحریری تعارف تھا۔ اس کتاب میں تین کہانیاں ہیں۔ ان کا لکھا ہلکا پھلکا اور ریڈنگ بلاک ختم کرنے کے لیے کافی مفید ہے۔ کہانیوں کا مختصر حال ذیل ہے۔
1) شرمیلی: یہ اس کا نک نیم تھا حالانکہ شرم سے اس کا کوئی دور کا بھی رشتہ نہیں تھا۔ اس میں ایک ایسی بچی کا احوال ہے جسے دادی نے اپنی عقل اور حکم کا تابع رکھنا چاہا اور ایسے میں ایک دن وہ ایسی باغی بنی کہ خود کو ہی دغا دے گئی۔ شرمیلی بڑی ڈری، سہمی اور شریف سی لڑکی تھی مگر دوسروں کی عقل سے سوچنے کی سرگرمی نے اسے ہیروئن بننے اور رسوائی کی اتاہ گہرائیوں تک پہنچا دیا
2) قوسیہ کسی عام آدمی سے شادی نہیں کرنا چاہتی تھی۔ یہی چاہ اسے ایک خاص آدمی تک لے گئی اور خاص آدمی کے ساتھ میں اسے لگ پتا گیا۔
3) پاکستانی سینڈریلا کے لیے آیا ایک افریقی شہزادہ۔ اسے ایک ڈائن سے چھٹکارہ دیا اور ڈائن سے سینڈریلا کا گھر بار بھی واپس چھین لیا۔

A woman who is consumed by the glittery world of materialism. One desire leads to another and then another until the soul is left completely empty.
2) Mamooli Aadmi (Insignificant/trivial man)
A story of power and control in a relationship. The story hits many nerves and is an accurate portrayal of Domestic Violence (focus on mental abuse). It is also a story of patience, hurt and liberation.
3) Paying Guest
A story of betrayal
Bushra Rehman has made it into the list of my favorite authors. Her command of the storyline, her simplicity in portraying characters and her profound insight in the working of society, all work in her favor.
