Lieutenant Commander Connor Montgomery's trust in his own judgment is gone, wiped out with the betrayal by the one person he trusted above all others. His failure to see the wolf in their midst has cost the people he loves more than they can afford to lose. His niece Nicole has been taken by the Xenos, by order of the most heinous and evil leaders of the Sorracchi race, and Connor will do whatever it takes to find her and bring her home safe.
In the hours and days following the war, the Sorracchi hid and fled however they could, including snatching people out of their lives to create new husks and hide behind unknown faces. Evelyn woke in a world she didn't recognize, and no memory of the last two years beyond her name. They call her an "Emancipated", a human freed from the possession of a Sorracchi conscience, but the people in charge of her care will tell her little else.
When the memories come, they are dark and sickening, and she can only pray they are not her own. To save the life of a stolen child, Evelyn must face the crimes her hands committed and gain the trust of a man with no trust left. Not even for himself.
Once again, the author has written such well developed characters and made the entire universe the readers' playground that I didn't want to put this book down. I've never read romance books that have the reader falling in love with the characters, rooting for them, celebrating the highs with the characters, being made to feel the deep lows, and just generally wanting to be part of the Saga. I've fallen in love completely with the entire Tanner Crew and their inner circle. This Saga has made me exam myself and grow with the characters. I never want this Saga to end!
Masterful. Emotional. The journey continues through this masterfully created world. Every installment of this series gets better and better. And of course I cannot wait to read the final book! Thanks for another ride Gail (the wonderful author!) I highly recommend this series!
Where do you turn when the most precious center of your world has been ripped from your grasp? ... Love, hope... Family.
The core message of STASIS is family. Not necessarily the family you're born to, but the family you create from the ashes of whatever life's handed you. And for the sake of that family, you do whatever it takes to find balance, and wholeness.
STASIS will grab hold of your heart with both hands, and shake you around. Sometimes tender, sometimes wrenching, sometimes laugh-out-loud funny (made more so by the unexpected nature of those moments). But in the end, you come out feeling cleaner, more hopeful, right alongside the Tanner clan and the rest of humanity as it rises, like the series' namesake Phoenix, from the ashes of everything that's come before.
This is a MUST read. And be sure to start with JANUS and TRIAD, to get the full impact of these amazing characters as they are developed by truly masterful hands.
