It's definitely an academic treatment of the topic but not nearly so dry as attempts by other authors to tackle "fun" (looking at you Podilchak). An important contribution to the field and I appreciate the moments of levity. Overall I found this to be a useful book, especially for people/researchers interested in perhaps the first comprehensive sociological accounting of fun.
