It is the beautiful layout and presentation that attracted me to the introducing series for the first time. I have almost all the books in this series. Some books in this series are simply stunning in every way, while others are just average.

This book tells us about the basics of Psychology and tells us about the stalwarts in the field of Psychology and Psychiatry and will be a decent choice for those who are new to the area of Psychology.

I loved it so much, you have no idea how much I appreciate this type of books. The type that helps you learn new things by showing you, by being so creative, the graphs and pictures in this book were so pretty and beautiful and very connected to those theories they were trying to present that you had to learn something, anything, at least by looking at those pictures. I knew some of those theories because of college, but it was so much better to read about them in this fun way. I recommend it for anyone who wants to learn psychology in a fun and very easy way. (the theories are presented so well, it's so easy to comprehend them like this. I think my teachers should learn something from this author.)

It's a basic introduction

The book is basic introduction to the subject of psychology. In that it has done a good job. Useful for dummies.

A quick (not so graphic) summary of psychological ideas

A quick summary of psychological ideas, and is a breeze to read through. However, the title is a bit misleading. It is far from being a graphic guide. It is a book with a few cartoon strips, which were almost never useful for understanding concepts provided. They were mostly redundant, and most times not even funny. I would recommend this book to anyone who wants a quick intro to psychology.

Have many titles in this series and find them highly accessible for a quick check, especially when something crops up in RL (what's that then).

Hah! had a result on a number of levels just by showing two pages of cartoon

all plus plus plus.

A great big hug after along chat means jobs have been applied for and a promise of a little runabout will hasten the licence.

These books are fun and very helpful and what I have found out this week is to help others cease contemplating their own subjectivity and mythologising themselves into whatevers by showing that there is nothing new in it. All behaviours have their impact and all those behaviours have been mulled over for decades.

(underlined phrase is shamelessly skagged off flister Trevor, who, without knowing it, encapsulated exactly what was meant)

For such a result I would glady give 6* because this series really talks to struggling youngsters.

This is a very well written and witty book that is packed with relevant information yet easy to read.

Like all the other books in the 'Introducing...' series, by Icon/Totem Books, it is fully illustrated throughout with clever cartoons that complement the text. Also like other books in the series, it is intended for the intelligent reader who does not necesarily have any previous knowledge.

As well as summarizing the whole of mainstream Psychology, it provides suggestions about the future of the subject and further reading.

My only criticisms are the awful cover that could put people off buying it and the lack of a contents page, although I realize it is intended to be read as a story rather than as a conventional text-book. At least the index is good.

Introducing Psychology is a book that does what the cover says - it introduces the subject in little conversational nuggets that are easy to understand.

It covers the history of the subject briefly, the six major houses/schools of thought, the salient features of the different theories and some bits about the founders/leading thinkers of the schools. The cartoons presented are fun and often witty. For someone looking to read about the subject, it offers a good starting point. Thereafter one can branch into details through other books.

I can't rave over the book. I felt it was competent enough to have in the can what's on the label. And that's about it.

I just started studying psychology again after so long, and I happened to find this on Kindle Unlimited. I decided to just give it a read and see how it went, and if it would just help me recall previous knowledge I knew from psychology before. I was actually really shocked about how this book taught me a lot more than what I already knew. This covered a lot of things that were on my old curriculum that we barely looked at before, and I regret never reading something like this before when I was studying.

With light humour, Nigel Benson makes psychology easy to understand, even for people who haven't studied it before. A definite book you should read if you're considered going into psychology, so you can have a look at the subject and what you're going to be studying.

The information in this was absolutely wonderful and all perfectly accurate and proven to be true (or at least, from my previous studies. Some of this may have been proved wrong by now, I'm not sure without research).

I would definitely recommend this to anyone that is interested by psychology. A quick, concise read, easy to understand, and the illustrations make it a little more fun to read about!

A brief and clear essence of conventional schools and unconventional paradigms on the subject of psychology is presented. However I felt the work could have presented in a more interesting way of using illustrations. I think I could say this because of my previous experiences with these publishings of Sociology, Anthropology, Postmodernism and Cultural Studies.

Nevertheless this could be a good place to explore Psychology from scratch.

An excellent introduction, or refresher of the main ideas of Psychology, covering subjects such as the origins of Psychological thought, different subdivisions or departments in Psychology and famous Psychologists. An excellent place to either begin your studies or remind yourself of the basics.

One of the remarkable problem with this book is that it clearly lacks depth. The concepts were introduced in such a hurry that you will sometimes feel why I am reading this book. It seems like the author has written this book in one go and didn't read it himself. This is not the way one should introduce the subject let alone psychology. Around 40-50% book out of 186 pages are covered with graphics some of them are pretty useless. It would have been much better if he would have written two or three sentences. If you are coming from statistical or computer science background you will most probably know the 30-40% of the content.

For someone who has studied psychology, this book can be quite boring to read as it is fairly basic. I'm sure I would have enjoyed it more if I knew nothing about the subject. My main criticism is that the book wasn't as graphic as it advertised itself to be. There was a picture every couple of pages. However, the information provided in the text is the most important. I'd definitely recommend it if you knew nothing about psychology and wanted a place to start.

This book reads like an undergrad student's notes for a Psychology 101 or History of Psychology class. Barely even scratches the surface of psychology. I was expecting witty illustrations - left disappointed on that front too. I'd recommend this to someone who knows absolutely nothing about psychology; for anyone else who has even a little knowledge of psychology, I'd recommend them to give this a miss and stick to reading wikipedia articles.

انگار تمام علاقه مندی هام یه جا جمع شده بود. یه کتاب مصور درباره روانشناسی که ذهن آدم رو درباره کل روند روانشناسی منسجم و مرتب می کرد و کلی سرنخ به آدم می داد.

The book truly stick to the title - this is just an introduction and nothing more. This would act as a good guide for the begginers in psychology and as a quick reference for others. It touches a broad variety of concepts but nothing in deep.

Being an avid reader, I was very skeptical when I was told I had to read a book that was a graphic format genre. I love to read, but when I was told it was mostly just pictures, I wasn't intrigued at all. I definitely misjudged this book by its cover because it was honestly very interesting and made me think in ways I never have before.

This book answers many questions that I didn't even know I had about psychology. It answered what it is and how it compares to psychiatry and other things seemingly associated with it, and how it is scientific. It was overall very informative with not only words, but pictures and graphs and diagrams. This helped me a lot because I am a visual learned and psychology is such a hard concept and topic that one would almost have to have visuals to even begin to understand it. I was very pleased with this book and even though it sounds cliche, I will try not to ever judge any book by its cover again.

Good, easy to read, quite fun. Probably already forgotten most of it. It did leave me thinking that governments probably ought to use psychology more in education.

A book which delivers on the title. A cliff notes run through of key developments in Psychology as a discipline, starting from the earliest instances, to when it began to properly take shape in the 19th/20th century, under several well-known researchers, as well as brief overviews as to what entails the difference schools of study which come under the umbrella.

Replete with several quirky, satirical yet informative graphical aids to surmise the points. Would recommend to anyone who wants a general overview on the subject. It's not terribly complex or esoteric, as the intention was something which can be easily palatable to the layman. You can knock off the whole book over a good weekend.

Good overview of different concepts of Psychology which are equally supported by graphics. The only downsize of such concise introductory books are that too much information are squeezed into it and that makes it very difficult to grasp all the concepts
