Money. Jason had it until his company imploded. Now he’s out of a job, stuck with a house he can’t sell and saddled with debts he can’t cover. He needs money. A lot of it. Then he is given a chance at what looks like easy money, too easy. The question is, what is he willing to do to get it? Lie? Cheat? Steal? Kill? The answers surprise even himself.

Actually a 3.5 but I try to encourage indies attempting to break into a tough field. Besides, he is from southern NH where I grew up (Wilton) and went to college (Keene). Book was an Xmas present from my brother in law, now passed on to him since I think he will enjoy it. Interesting characters, if a bit stereotypical. About 100 pages too long but a good editor will fix that if Phillip breaks through and a few small typos here and there, typical of self published works, actually, fewer than most.

Interesting plot keeps one hanging in to see what happens with a few twists and turns. The one thing that doesn't ring true is that I cannot imagine a financially desperate movie producer putting the sophisticated money shifting program in place to protect himself during a drug deal. Interesting concept, but just a bit too nerdy and sophisticated for the character.

Phillip was a small town NH firefighter who has written other books along those lines. Guess I will have to check them out to see how he handles the familiar grounds of southern NH. Quite a contrast from the southern CA milieu of this novel.

This was a great story, great character development, lots of converging plot twists and building suspense. It got a little in the weeds for me when it came to some technical passages, but I really enjoyed this novel. I sincerely hope it gets optioned for movie deal. With the right cast it would be a good one.
