Love him at his worse…was the slogan that most women went by, but what happens when the tables are turned and Cupid shoots the MAN in the heart. Powerful and Passive Malachi Morgan finds his hands full and his heart thumping erratically for a certain someone, but Jade Williams doesn’t feel the same. In fact, she refuses to acknowledge his role in her life.
Malachi Morgan is that man. He's the one that everyone has no choice but to love because he’s so charming. However, not Jade Williams, she could care less what he has and where he comes from.
Jade Williams is battling demons that she can’t cast no matter how hard she tries. Sunken in depression and drowned in her own misery, Jade lives a pitiful life and she has grown to accept it. Blaming her future on her past, Jade is stagnant, but Malachi Morgan is the opposite. His life is just starting. Retiring from The Underworld at the age of twenty-five is considered an accomplishment in the streets, and he is prepared to live a new life. Unfortunately, it won't be with his baby mama.
Aaliyah is considered a mistake, but Malachi can never find the words to tell her that. In an attempt to raise his child better then he was raised, Malachi plays house. However, this doesn’t last too long. Somehow Malachi peels the layers that conceals Jade’s true identity and he is willing to drop it all to be with her, including his family in New York.
Whenever they warm up, Jade goes cold again. Malachi can’t seem to keep her feelings consistent for him. What started off as an innocent business deal turns into a steamy, yet drawn out whirlwind of a relationship.
Malachi refuses to play hide and seek with Jade’s heart, but she just won’t compromise. In Please Catch my Soul, Jade and Malachi are in constant battle for happiness and love. Jade seeks peace more than anything, and on many occasions Malachi comes to her rescue. When it's all said and done the only thing she really wants is for him to save her from a life of misery that has caused her such a broken heart. .

This book was a got damn ride! I’m torn between 3.75-4 ⭐️
It was a page turner but there were quite a few ??? moments.
Jade and Malachi gave me a headache. This book is highkey depressing, but also kinda hopeful lol it’s like you gotta read it to feel it and understand.
I honestly didn’t see a HEA for these 2 man. I don’t even know how to feeeeeel! I went back and forth between liking and disliking both characters. But it all worked out in the end, I guess.
In this first installment of The Underworld Nako delivers a beautiful love story that leaves you wanting to know more about the rest of The Underworld. True Page Turner
I felt this story! Malachi- What a man, what a man! His patience & love for Jade was ever so present. I took my time reading this story, processing the scenes for this story was deep. Great background information given & introduction of the characters. Storyline on point! Though this was my first read by Nako, this story, Please Catch My Soul, has made me an instant fan!
Book one of the underworld series was a good introduction of what’s to come for me. Jade and Malachi have an interesting connection that caught me by surprise. Jade is in an abusive and volatile marriage. Malachi is trying to go legit. They are paired by Jade’s boss to work together. The close proximity and instant physical connection was clear and in no time, these two were sneaking and moving like they didn’t have baggage. I loved Malachi, cool, calm, and collected he had the patience of Job because Jade was a wreck, emotionally. He really did save her. I think overall, the book was good but a few times I was over Jade continually running away instead of communicating her fears to Malachi. Looking forward to the rest of the series. Check the CW!
Malachi Morgan is not a man you want to mess with.At a young age his life is together but he wants better for himself & his family. In the midst of changing he meets Jade.
Jade is a married women who hates her marriage but stays because of her child. Childhood memories wont let her have happines so she just exist not really live.Soon as she met malachi she knew life was about to be different. Though she dont make it easy because she has walls built up Malachi trys his best to break them down...
But is her broken soul ready?
This is definitely a love story you dont want to miss.
My first read by this author. I really enjoyed this story. The beginning will have you alarmed but don't be it gets greater later. There were also a few errors & a name mixupbut other than that an enjoyable read. I love the character development you really connected to them. Good standalone.
I enjoyed reading this book. Jade was a broken woman starting at a very young age. It took a lot but she was finally breaking down her walls with the help of Malachi.
📚 Book: Please Catch My Soul (The Underworld #1) 🖋️ Author: Nako 💫 My Rating: Infinity Stars — because five ain’t enough 🩵 Mood: Redeemed. Healed. Obsessed again.
🌪️ Review:
BABYYYY… when I tell you this book grabbed me by the SOUL and didn’t let go?!? 😭🔥
After all the chaos and poor decisions from The Connect’s Wife series (looking directly at you, Chanel 👀), Nako came through and said, “Let me remind y’all who I am.” And she DID THAT.
Malachi Morgan? Whew. That man had no business having me blushing like I wasn’t supposed to be minding my own business. Jade Williams? Girl. Frustrating but layered — fighting demons that felt too real. The trauma, the coldness, the self-sabotage… and then Malachi coming through like, “I got you, even when you don’t got you.” 🥺
This book was a slow burn with depth. Not just street lit — this was redemption, healing, and heartbreak rolled up in one powerful story. The way Nako wrote pain, love, and vulnerability? Chef’s kiss.
By the end, I didn’t just love the story. I respected the growth, the raw emotion, and the message: sometimes you don’t need saving — you just need someone to catch your soul. 💔➡️💖
🔥 Favorite Things:
💎 Malachi’s quiet strength 💎 Jade’s raw, imperfect humanity 💎 The Underworld references (you know it’s about to get deep) 💎 Nako’s pen being back on FIRE 🔥
🏁 Final Thoughts:
Welcome back to infinity-star Nako. This book? A masterpiece of emotion and growth. I’m all in for The Underworld now — let’s see who survives this storm.

So I’m just embarking on the Underworld Journey☺️ after reading Nako for years ( I’ve read all the standalone and other series). I am taking my first true vacation that doesn’t include a reunion of some type or kids. Just a trip with my girls and 5 days of cruising. I’m bringing my kindle and the underworld with me! I love the way Malachi pursued Jade♥️ I didn’t expect for her to go through what she went through. I also got glimpses of the other ladies and fellas in the underworld. I never understood Jordyn being the way she is but seeing her now during this time I feel like I see her unhappiness. I’m geeked up to see what’s next now that I’ve got started!
So this book was EVERYTHING !! I'm so happy with the ending! So I'm starting this series over cause I read some of these books so out of order so I'm starting over . With the bring said on to book 2!!
When I say that I am sitting here seriously confused that would legit be an understatement. I had every intention on rating this book a 4 or 5... and then around the 90% mark... I knew without a doubt that I was about to be screwed... and hell yeah I am about to explain.
When the beginning of the book started I was like okay this is present time... got it. Then it moved to Jade and I was like cool, so the author is going to go back and tell the what happened go get the characters to that place in the beginning of the book and at the end we would get the outcome of everything... cool.. bet I can deal with that perfectly fine. HOWEVER... unless I read a different copy.. that isn't what the hell happened at all.
So... I am literally sitting here wondering.. what the hell was the purpose of the beginning of the book? Like it held absolutely no relevance to what happened in the story. Other than providing background on the characters of the underworld whom popped up in the story every now and then but didn't hold big roles in this book much at all.
Let me continue to explain how confused I am after reading this book.. once I got to the very end with my mouth agaped because I seriously couldn't believe that this was the ending... I actually went back to the beginning of the book and read the first few chapters again thinking maybe I missed something... NO I didn't and I am still sitting here wondering what the hell.
So if I had skipped the entire beginning of the book and just started at chapter 1 then maybe my review may have been a 4 at the end. Jade was dealing with a lot...I understood her thinking on why she should stay based off her childhood... however her reasoning.. yeah no (I am speaking lightly here because I am sure that Jade situation at home could really be true for some... it actually wasn't unbelievable) I didn't really see growth in her character.. to me even in the end she seemed like she was struggling to find herself still.... I also found Chi to be.. Idk a little soft not so much alpha to me.
I recently jumped on the Nako train a little under a month ago- starting with Is She the Reason (⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐). I saw it was part of a series and decided to rewind to the beginning. The short but POWERFUL story, Arraignment-1 (⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐) had me SPELLBOUND; CAN'T WAIT to meet & learn the history of ALL the key characters. I'm just finishing Please Catch My Soul (⭐⭐⭐⭐)...
I, SO wanted to give this book 5-Stars. And the minus-1 was NOT a result of Nako failing to convey a well crafted story. She ABSOLUTELY did her thing with this piece!! The characters were well developed and realistic. And, the plot commanded my attention from start to finish👍👍 Still, there were "minor" details I was eager to learn more about the main characters. For instance, we clearly see how Jade's bi-polar; paranoid; commitment-phobic; and dramatically-emotional tendencies are the effects of her mother's persistent disappearing acts, which ultimately lured her to her death. BUT, what specifically lead her to totally disconnect from her sister? And even though her father slumped into his own funk after loosing her mother, why did she remain so distant from him...other than when she needed to gain solace after Kasey's death? As for Malachi, what's his family history? We know: his father is incarcerated; his mother is mentally ill; and his younger sister is committed to taking care of their mother...PERIOD. Nonetheless, what lead his father to prison? What was his mother's breaking point? And, why did he decide to become a drug dealer in the first place... Was it simply an opportunity to obtain wealth? Was it an escape from childhood poverty? Had he been exposed to the dope game by his criminal father? Or, was he initially just following his friend(s)? AND, how did he- a street hustler, secure the status of an accomplished self-made millionaire by the age of twenty-five? HOWEVER, I have NO complaints with the overall story. These are just MY curiosities.
Respectfully, I would like to like to CONGRATULATE Nako on a job well done!!! In the meantime, I look forward to starting the next book immediately.
What an awesome love story this turned out to be! This book represent so many broken women today that's been abused, neglected, raped, etc. causing them to suffer with depression, sadness, not experience real love/intimacy, and contemplating suicide. With therapy life can change. There are strong men like Malachi that exist to deal with all the craziness and bipolar tendencies like Jade was dealing with. Jade finally got the help she needed so she could experience real love and happiness. I enjoyed reading the first installment of The Underworld. Looking forward to the next one.
s/n The book starts off introducing The Underworld and then it goes into the Arraignment, which I think is part of the ending in the last installment of The Underworld, then goes into the story Please Catch My Soul. It's no different from a movie showing the ending first and then going back to what happen ealier. I think it's important to read the intro to know who's who. It's really not that confusing.
I skipped the prologue and I think this is why I gave it a higher rating than some of my peers, but lemme explain! I know that is not the way the writer intended for me to read, but I happened to read a review advising me to do so. And let me tell you….had I read that intro, I would have felt like I wasted hours of my day. True, this book was a slow build (ok for a while then increasingly enthralling), but the prologue had pretty much nothing to do with the entire story…and it actually takes away from the experience.
I really, really liked the story. There wasn’t a bunch of finesse in the writing, but there were so many layers being pulled back throughout the story, I got caught up. I wish the center story got fleshed out a little more. I just…I wanted more story. I’ve been spoiled, I guess. I don’t want to imagine what happened throughout months and years or even in the past—I wanna be told what the eff happened. Especially when it’s some drama.
Overall, a pretty good romance with a very complex and interesting heroine.
Please catch my soul, was by far an emotional roller coaster. I cried, I laughed, I was angry....but at the end I was just contented! The chemistry that Jade and Malachi has , is undeniable. Malachi is truly a force to be reckoned with. I admired how he stood with Jade from near and far, supporting her and being there for her every step of the way. He was what she really needed. Her husband, hmm, should have died by himself, he was mean, he was angry...but In the end I understood his pain. Even though Jade went through what she did...she conquered. I have no words for Malachi's sister though, and Aaliyah's bitch ass. Great read! Very emotional and deep.....by far five stars plus! You did it again Nako!
I have to admit, I'm a little late jumping on the Nako bandwagon. I have always seen your books, but skipped passed them. I saw this book and wanted to read it, but I saw that I had to read the The Connect's Wife first. Let me say that I feel bad for overlooking your work because you are an excellent writer. You are definitely one of my favorite authors now. Never have I read a complete series like that where my attention was not lost. I have been on a Nako binge for the past week and a half!! This book was so good. Mr. Malachi was like a breath of fresh air and a dream come true. Poor Jade truly had some demons and baggage. What a wonderful man to stick it out. Can't wait to see what the next part of The Underworld brings. Great job!!
Storyline was pretty good but sent me on a roller coaster ride with emotions. I'm confused about the prologue, are we going to get all the background stories of the members of "the Undergroud" before we find out what happen with trial? Malachi and Jade were an interesting couple whose chemistry was undeniable. They were both dealing with emotional deficiencies from childhood. Malachi had the patience of a saint but I believe having a mother with mental issues allowed him to understand Jade on a greater level. Overall I thought the story was intriguing and engaging but was left a little confused.
Thank you for the brief introduction of the characters. This book made me tear up during some of the sciences with Kendrick and Jade. No one deserves to be in an loveless marriage with domestic violence. I was so happy that you made the Jade get help with battling her inner demons so you could be a better mate. Can't wait for the next installment!!!!
Jade was to wishy washy to me. She stayed in a abusive relationship when she didn't have to. Look what it cost her. Malachi kept leading Aaliyah on. He knew he didn't love her. Aaliyah was just as dumb to stay. She used their daughter a lot. I'm going to keep reading the series cause I would like to know how the court cases went
I loved how Malachi loved Jade. I loved that she saw something in her and connected with her spirit no matter her mood or attitude. Jade was extremely damaged. I’m so happy that Jade recognized Malachi’s love for her and continued to fight through her demons to give new love a try.
This book was so good Nako you did your thing! That Malachi was good I love the patients he had for Jade and was always there for her...I hate that her daughter had to die though!
This is my first read from this author and now I am a big fan! I love, love, loved it! My emotions were all over the place and I am definitely looking forward to the next book. Keep up the great work.
It was as great as I thought it would be yet still unexpected. It was definitely not "predictable", nor like anything else I've read. I'm excited. I'll be reading all 12 books and I'm anxious for the next installment. Great work.
I'm a fan of Nako and her writing and connected to Jade in a way that I haven't to a character before. It was amazing to watch her journey through healing. Great book as expected from this author.
