Hunted through the mountains, Mike and the team are faced with an unrelenting enemy. In a bid to save the innocents, Mike and his team might have to sacrifice everything, including any chance they might have of making it home. With a growing threat, they face betrayal within and without, and old enemies may become unwilling and unwitting allies.
I read this series over the weekend - Distant Shores, Eden's Children, and The Between. I really liked it. The bad guys are bad, the good guys are good, and the McGuffin is plausible. A 5-man Spec Ops team is sent to a DARPA location in Wyoming, the North Koreans nuke Beijing, everyone nukes everyone, and the team finds themselves in a fight with dragons. From there, it gets really interesting. As they struggle to survive in a hostile place, they wonder what kind of a future they have, and whether they can ever get home again.
I'd recommend it to anyone who likes military sci-fi. Beyond that, I will hide the rest of my comments because they might spoil the story for people who haven't read it yet. But I found myself physically anxious for the team, caught up in their conflicts and hoping for the best. I can't wait to read the next book.
I can’t say enough good things about this book. And although I thought the series was going to stop at three books, the author is already working on book 4—welcome news for fans. As the series progresses it is increasingly critical to have read the previous books before starting a new one; that is about the only criticism I can come up with. Since Harritt gave us so much background on the “grey men” in book 2, this is not repeated in book 3 although we do spend a considerably larger amount of time among them seeing the story from their point of view. The characters among that group are every bit as engaging as the original team and Matki’s tribe members, if (in my opinion) somewhat less likable. A f ew more questions get answered here, but more are raised, especially regarding the major portion of the team that’s been left behind at their headquarters. Some alarming things have been going on “back at the ranch,” and by the end of the book there is a new challenge all of the “time-traveling” crew will face, as well as new potential partnerships that may be forming. I look forward to the next book very much.
Humans, Aliens, Time travel, Dragons, heavy weapons and cultural anthropology!
I picked up this series about 2 weeks ago. The first book started off like any military sci-fi book. The characters were bold and quirky. They Corp group traveled to Colorado. At that point Mark Harritt changed the ok military sci-fi book to an AWESOME plot twisting, action packed, who done it, who or what is the bad guy. The Colorado crew and the Main group really developed into unique people and they all had wonderful insight as to the setting they groups landed in. Excellent job in character development and plot twists. I recommend this series highly. The only negative is that I have to wait for the next book. Mark Harritt stop driving and keep writing!
This is a really good series. I like all of the characters... they're very well defined and seem like actual people you might know. The story is very well plotted , has many twists and turns, and keeps you guessing as to what's going to happen next . I recommend this to anyone that likes a good solid science-fiction story .
Harritt is awesome! The only bad thing about this book was getting to the end of it. I recommend Harritt to readers who love military adventure with a sci-fi "anything can happen" twist. You won't be disappointed.
