I was born in Guam before moving to the States around thirteen. After Graduating High School I got a job working for Wal-Mart (don't judge me) in one of their warehouses working three, twelve hours days. All in all not a bad job, but I was young and didn't appreciate it at the time. Anyway, joined the Army at twenty-one as a Combat Medic and deployed twice while I served.
Okay that's my past, here are the current events.
I am out of the Army and attending College for a degree in Writing with a minor in Advertisement. The degree is not so important to me as bettering my ability to write. I also pick advertisement for a minor, but after two weeks of classes. I am no longer sure I have any interest in that area.
Now for the recent information.
I completed an item on my bucket-list by finishing my first book Death Mage's Ascent, then took it a step further and completed the second Death Mage's Fury. I have been told that Fury is better written than the first, and I hope that the third now named Curse is better than the second. Now I have a new item on the list, to complete the Death Mage series. Since I was in my early teens I have wanted to be an author, and I am now working towards that goal. There has been a bit of a slow down on progress of third as as my college work intensifies, but I continue to make progress on Curse with 13 chapters behind me.
Well, that's me in a nutshell, and I hope you have either enjoyed or about to enjoy Ascent and Fury. Thank you for taking the time to learn a little about me. If you have any questions, please feel free to ask here on goodreads.
This book has been well worth the wait. I highly recommend reading it. I have but one gripe with the book..... I now need to wait for the next one, other than that it has made me very happy about the story. There are very few main characters in a book that I can associate with, but Jaxom's (can't believe i'm using the name to refer to some one other than myself for a change) attitude, reactions and humor have been so like my own that it was hard not to be happy depressed and all other emotional colours of the rainbow while reading it. As I like to say a good book keeps the boredom away, a very good book makes me curse to the heavens because i read it one day and now have to wait for next!
This is the second book of the series, which means I'll be more critical than the first.
Typos: While lessened vs. the first book, there were still plenty of them and right grammar usage. By itself, it wouldn't have been an issue but... Characters: There's no consistent progression and interactions and events can sometimes look like they are just there to get the story from point A to point B. Magic: A few people have said here that they love how well thought out the magic system is. I would disagree. Every "school" seems to have a ranged spell and a defense spell. (Fireball, firewall) (Ice shards, ice wall, frost). But you come to the death mages, they have stuff that makes sense like risen, and rot, but what about the coil? This can and should be better.
The positive is this, all of these things can be fixed/adjusted by having either a better editor and/or more pre-readers willing to give their honest and unbiased opinion.
I will pick up #3 when it comes out and see how things are.
Jon Bendor continues to amaze me with his storytelling. The depth of his characters, detailed action scenes, and system of magic is brilliant. Hurry with the third installment!
