I'm kind of surprised how much I liked this one. I always get a bit scared when I pick up a Welsh book because I've had some bad experiences. However, this one was lovely. The character development was lovely to read about, as were the way the relationships changed between the various characters. In particular, I loved reading about Beca - she felt so read (and made me laugh).

I also loved the fact that I could relate so much to the Welsh communities in the book - it's something I don't necessarily get when I read YA books (my usual go-to), so it's always lovely to feel the Welshness. Speaking of community, the allotment group were my favourites. Tomi and Mrs Huws were amazing, and I loved how accepting they were of Dylan.

However, I have a few issues. Firstly, the number of povs, and how much it switched between them. I'm cool with new chapter = new pov. That's easy to follow. However, in Chwynnu, sometimes it switched pov during the chapter, and sometimes without a break between paragraphs. That always meant that I had to take a moment to adjust to a new character, which isn't really what you want while you read a book.

Also, Gwen's pov didn't seem necessary. Which is really sad, because I really liked Gwen, but I don't feel like she really added that much to the story (apart from that last pov of hers, which was wonderful). But the storyline with her dad and Mrs Ifans felt unneeded to be honest.

Ugh, and I still don't like Meriel.

But overall, it was a nice little read. I'm definitely glad that I picked it up!
