Love shouldn't hurt...especially not physically. Janelle Hampton is living the picture perfect life, but no one knows anything about the heartbreak and dysfunction that constitutes her marriage. Determined to no longer be a victim and have taken all she can take, she finds herself acting out of character and doing the unthinkable. This eye-opening, heart-wrenching short story depicts what it's like when a woman has reached her breaking point. Affairs of the heart can often prove fatal and in the end love can become war.
This was a good short read. It was an interesting to read how a woman who loves her husband and deals with the physical abuse however he treats her like crap and she knows it. The ending was not what I expected so that kept my attention. The story flowed and the characters was easy to follow. The typesetting was good and no grammatical errors. I would recommend this story and will read a part 2 if published.
How long would you keep up a façade? How long would you keep things swept under the rug? What would make you reach your breaking point?
Janelle is a loving wife to Oliver, yet the love is not being returned in the same manner. Janelle feels that something is just not right and decides to find out what is going wrong in her marriage. She truly loves Oliver but she doesn't feel that Oliver is 100% invested in their marriage and is cheating on her. She is determined to get to the bottom of the matter and find out once and for all if Oliver is cheating. Oliver, of course, denies that he is cheating and only has eyes for his wife.
Oliver is in fact cheating on Janelle. He is cheating on her all outside of both pant legs and his shirt. He is holding court with several women and hiding it from Janelle. Oliver keeps a diary of his adventures and details his life. Now, I know what you are thinking, a man keeping a diary, no such thing, but yes he keeps a diary. Janelle knows he keeps a diary and goes searching. She finds the diary and the answers she is looking for are in the diary. Janelle becomes hurt by what she reads and is determined to leave Oliver.
Oliver comes home after a call from Janelle and catches her preparing to leave him. He becomes physical with her to try to prevent her from leaving. Janelle has finally reached a breaking point in her marriage. She decides to take her life back and what happens next should have happened. What does Janelle do? How does she take matters into her own hands and what will be the outcome?
I am giving five stars for a very well written story that definitely put me in my feelings. I could relate to Janelle putting her all into Oliver and not getting what she is giving. Oliver definitely proves that sometimes love is not enough.

Intriguing short story. I felt a great job was shown what happens when someone is pushed to the edge. Relevant information was included which helped understand the situation. After reading the chain of events, Janelle's rage was understood but her actions only caused more punishment..Storyline flowed well & just enough characters were involved. I totally agree with the title & recommend all to take time to read.
I thought this was a well read short story. It got right to the point straight business. It reminded me of a flash fiction story. I wonder what the book would be like if it was longer. This was my first read from this author and she blew away she did a really good job of letting me know what happened and it was very clearly written so you wouldn't get confused. Great job once again
She Wiseman right at least she didn't killing. Makes the act if he tried her again so much easier. Because she can't be tried twice for the same crime. Ollie ass better Hide
This book explores a topic too common domestic abuse. This does a great job portraying abuse that is never reported. I would recommend this book to others. Waiting to dive into part two. This won't be my last read from this author.
I felt Janelle's pain. This story is one that needs to be read by both men an d women. Be careful of the way you treat your mate. You just may feel the burn when one gets fed up.
This short read packed a punch. When a woman's fed up, there's nothing anyone can do. But a woman shouldn't have to pay for her freedom after suffering abuse and betrayal from her husband. Know your worth, don't settle for less. At the first sign of abuse, run. You can't change him and it's not worth your life to try. I just recently discovered this author and I can't wait to read more of her work.
