There are so many traditions associated with Christmas—stories, songs, movies, recipes, performances—it's sometimes hard to keep track of them all. Packed with stories behind our traditions, carols, inexpensive ways to celebrate the season, and traditions from other countries, The Inspirational Christmas Almanac is a collection of everything Christmas in one beautiful book you'll use year after year. Make this the year to start a family tradition—or learn where treasured family traditions originated.
David C. Cook is a nonprofit Christian publisher based in Colorado Springs, Colorado. It was established in 1875 and publishes fiction and nonfiction. It uses its profits for global ministry. For many years, it published a Christian comic book, Sunday Pix, with stories about the adventures of Christian heroes in many different eras and in many parts of the world.
What a fun little book! I enjoyed reading about different Christmas traditions in different countries including recipes. The short stories were wonderful. I really liked those a lot. The best part of the book was that it included the real meaning of Christmas, Jesus Christ, born to a virgin in Bethlehem.
The formatting of this book was a big problem. The stories were interrupted by random facts, jokes, and recipes. Once you figure out how you want to read it, things get better. The stories themselves were kind of overdone and certainly overwritten. But that's kind of what I was looking for in a feel-good Christmas book to read before bed.
