I want to note, I am only giving this book 3 stars instead of 2 because the author did summarize interesting points at the start of the book, and does indeed go on to give very a very concise summary of each brain wave. When I say concise I mean extremely limited, but, for a beginner perhaps it would be helpful, I am not sure. I felt through this book at times the author was misleading and had a tendency to put personal opinion in as opposed to fact. But I digress. I am of moderate understanding regarding the brain frequencies, what they do and how we can use them to improve our lives. I was highly disappointed to find this book to be so simple and again, at times, so misleading. Finally, I usually don't complain about the writing style an author has...but this book was written to be rocky, very selective and choppy, and you could find yourself to be anywhere, at any time. I personally wouldn't recommend this book, but, at the same time it does get to the core basics, at least when you reach that stage of the book. From the history of brainwaves (which is not in depth or intriguing) to discussing the use of binaural "beats" - so much information is left out, leaving me highly frustrated. This book can be read easily in 30 minutes. Maybe that alone should be the tip off that it isn't here to give much information.
Rather disappointed in the lack of ideas and/or information that increase understanding the brain, that reveal latest findings, or provide possible activities for improving performance of mental functioning.
