No stone untouched – This book touches every aspect of Christianity smartly in a portable way. I didn’t get bore reading this book because it is short and crispy! Where else can I find a book that covers variety of topics and still entice one to keep reading? The book makes me feel confidence about myself as a child of God."
"I try to start my every day journey from the bible. I found this book to be very helpful for me to achieve that. It guides me to read both Old Testament and New Testament of the bible with no stone untouched. My good thumbs up for the author of this book who gave much insight to bible teaching so that I can understand it very well."
I found this book to be very enlightening. I seem to be rather uneducated in the way of religion from school and such, so this book was something I felt I had to read as a way to understand” religion a little more. This book will teach you things that, even as an atheist, you will be able to understand. If your school and upbringing didn't teach you much about religion and the church, then maybe this book is for you. This is not just a bible, which in this day and age can be rather hard to understand, the author has gone to great lengths to teach the words and give them meaning an help people to understand them in the context of a modern society. As the author, James Taiwo, has acknowledged, the modern world can be tough on our spare time and fining the time for religion can be a tough task in itself. This book also gives guidance on what religion can mean for people in the modern world and how to make it work for you. An interesting read.
James Taiwo did an excellent job teaching Bible principles with the only objective are to getting you closer to God. This book is not about a certain religion or agenda, but teaches people truths he learned during his own devotions. I notice right away in Bible Application Lessons and Prayers that James doesn’t use Bible passages to hit people over the head, but to teach and exhort. He also realizes in any conversation you must take the time to listen (to God’s word) and speak (prayer). One of my favorite lessons is Day #169. This lesson is remembering God’s goodness in our lives, using the example of Moses before he died. Day #294 is a great lesson on living a life by the standard of the Bible, not gauging your life to the world. I found this book very uplifting and encouraging.
I’ve been searching for an amazing daily devotional. I’m only into this one by a few days but I can already tell you I love it! I can’t tell you how great it is to wake up each morning, reach for my kindle and my bible and start my day with a new focus for passage followed by thought provoking insight into the passage as well as a prayer before I start my day! The lessons are well written and inspiring and the prayers are perfect to start the day with. Sometimes it’s hard to find a devotional that I feel truly brings me closer in my relationship with God but so far this one seems to be fitting quite perfectly for me! I'm excited to see what the rest of the year has to offer!
An informative and holy book with lessons and prayers for 365 days. I guess this book is like a company that you can keep on your book shelve whenever you need some guidance, help or feeling sad and need some motivation. It is a keeper that can be read to yourself or to your kids. Start with any lesson and read as much when you need it. A good supplement to the Bible and easy to read and understand. It’s a good resource for spiritual growth or just to remember God’s word in your everyday life!
I liked that there was a life application lesson for each day of the year without dates so whenever you start reading the book it is your day one. It is not the usual bible study guide that goes through each section in order but focuses more on the modern day application. The passages are short and to the point so it wouldn't hinder someone from making a daily habit of prayer and reflection. I liked and disliked that about the book. I felt like some areas would have benefited from further explanation. The author was easy to understand and it didn't sound preachy.
I have read other guides and the ease of which it can be read stands out to me. I found it hard to write a review since the benefits are very subjective to each person. It is hard to say what one person may get out of this book. I disagree with the summarization that it is geared towards Christians and Non-Christians because of the titles and wording. For example: Christians Must Live Bible Principled Lifestyle. I still think it is a good resource to get the juices flowing in establishing a daily habit but if the author wants to engage a Non-Christian audience, it needs wording changes.
This book by James Taiwo is filled with 365 passages of daily inspirations based on the Bible. It’s a way to help guide you as you read your Bible and can even be used as a Bible study. It comes with prayers and devotions you can read to help keep you encouraged. Besides these devotionals, it also teaches you about the history of the Bible and the differences between the Old and New Testaments. If you’re looking for a book that will help you with your spiritual journey, definitely check this one out. It’s about 393 pages long, but it contains a page per day for you to read and each passage isn’t that long so it won’t be time-consuming. This book is well organized and will keep you on track for a yearly Bible devotional read. It’s a great way to help you throughout the year to keep you encouraged and motivated with Bible passages and prayers.
What a great inspirational book! Bible application Lessons and Prayers is one of those books that you will keep by your side each day. I bought the Kindle version and found myself referencing and reading this book on a regular basis. The lessons this author pulls from the scripture are laid out in an easily digested manner. Some lessons were new to me and others were well known but seeing them from a different perspective was refreshing. The prayers are relevant to everyday life in an uncertain world and we might need the prayers more than ever. I liked the down-to-earth and humble writing style of this author. He never seemed to presume that his reader was well versed in scripture and took the time to explain certain points without coming across as condescending. A great book and especially in today’s fast-paced world these short lessons and prayers may help you get back to the Bible and stick with it.
This is a really great resource, especially for people that think that they don’t have time to read the Bible. The fact that there are lessons for each day of the year and they are presented in a way that is easy to follow is something that is quite invaluable to all of us. I really like some of the lessons that were included, but there are also a couple things that I wish were a little bit different about this book. One is that the passages don’t always say what type of Bible they came from, but even when they do, they are from different versions of the Bible, which makes me wonder what the reasoning behind that was. The other thing is that I am wondering how the author knows all of the extra information that is included in here, that isn’t really represented in the Word. I would like to see references to any other books that were used or references to other passages that prove some of the facts presented in the lessons. Overall, this is a great tool for all believers, especially if they are busy but want to be closer to their Creator.
Focus on Bible readings and prayers The author points out in his preface that ‘God requires everyone to establish and maintain a consistent relationship with him, but the task is gradually becoming an impossible mission for people of our time due to our never-ending busy schedules’. This is so true, and I have found that the way this book is set out in clear focus passages, with a lesson and prayer to compliment each passage, makes it very easy for me to maintain my personal relationship with God. The 365 divine inspirations are clear and concise; they are therefore not too time consuming or mentally taxing for a layman. It is easy to stick to this daily regime.
