Within the billionaire’s lies, things aren’t always as they seem…
This book was a horrendously bad fit for me. I don't know why I one clicked it even if it was free because I'm not a fan of billionaire books in general. I think I expected some cute online friends for 10 years to finally meeting sweet story but it was anything but. I need to remember never to read this author again!
Safety gangers- read the spoilers because I don't consider this safe but some might consider it safe with exceptions.
So I would have hated this if I'd read this deeply rather than skimmed it. As it was I was just annoyed by it.
1 Wasted-My-Time-Star! ☆ I felt like I was forcing myself to finish this book. This book is written very well, but sadly the story sucks. And its sooo over the top....just very unrealistic. I wouldn't be surprised if a troll and a fairy would have popped up in the next chapter. :( and the heroine just kept getting on my nerves; clinging to Blake like he was her lifeline. He threw her out after f#%king her and then she runs back to him. He starts to walk away from her again and again she throws herself at him, saying she's not wearing panties. I love d*ck as much as the next girl, but to beg for it when the guy is clearly being a d*ck....nah. I have no words, because after that he falls in love with her and starts wining and dining her. It started off interesting but went down hill fast after chapter two! I got half way and had to give up. I was beyond bored!
The h was a complete doormat and the H was a lying asshole. OMG, self respect anyone? Just ugh. 3 stars for the tremendous effort it takes to write a Book and publish it. I'd read from this author again but this book was making me want to shake this girl. So embarrassed for her.
This was a great read! Christina and Blake's 10-year online friendship was an insightful way to establish them as"friends" first. After all, we all want THE Love of our life to also be our Best Friend.
Their intense and off-the-charts blisteringly erotic moments made sense. Blake had waited 10 years for Christina to finally agree to meet with him; he couldn't wait for her any longer and he was determined to have her...and have her he did!!! Their erotic scenes were so sensually demanding and deliciously paced that this reader--at times--didn't realise I was literally holding my breath. Oh, the sweet torture of longed for lingering erotic passion. Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaggggggggggggggghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!
Christina realized that Blake's final request that they meet meant that their "friendship" had reached a crossroad--she either have dinner with him and take a chance that they could have something more, or risk losing Blake's friendship that she knew she didn't want to lose.
I also appreciated that Christina's career and professional story complimented the timeframe of Blake's success and wealth. Blake's back story was presented as him being a self-made success which coincided with the evolution of his and Christina's 10-year friendship; very realistic.
What I most enjoyed about Christina and Blake's story was that it was about THEM. The emotional journey they traveled together and eventually towards each other on the same HEA road was bliss for me! I was so relieved not feel that these two characters would betray my emotional investment in their romance by the writer dumping a pregnancy threat into their story. Christina and Blake's story didn't need that guilt\obligation circus. Thank you, Ms. King, for resisting dumping the pregnancy threat\baby formula in the story. KUDOS!!!
I look toward to reading more romance stories like this!
Almost the first half of this book is a lot of explicit sex scenes between Blake, who's the billionaire in the title, and Christine, who works for a public relations company. As the story begins, the two have been communicating via computer without ever meeting face to face for 10 years. Chrissy has only a vague idea of what his job is; she knows it has something to do with computer software but isn't clear in what capacity. They finally meet. She is overwhelmed by how wealthy he obviously is and even more so when she learns that he OWNS a major company that designs computer games. Naturally, she's completely swept off her feet. Not only is this the same funny, smart guy she's known for a long time but he's a total stud and they have fantastic sex. A lot of it.
As soon as it starts to look as though they're on track for a lasting relationship, he backs off from Chrissy because he's got a lot of business meetings regarding a merger. But is it really business? All the paparazzi are reporting Blake spending a lot of time with Jennifer Madison, a blonde bombshell.
Okay, so since this is a romance it's not much of a spoiler to say that true love wins out in the end, but I'd have some serious doubts about this guy if I were Chrissy. Blake has plenty of opportunities when they first get together to explain his "plan" instead of keeping her in the dark and just begging her to trust him. And the plan itself is kind of slimy. I mean, what about Jennifer? Even if she's just awful, she's getting abandoned on her wedding day. So the guy has been stringing two women along while he manipulates things according to his own agenda. Sure doesn't seem like good marriage material to me. But he's a sexy hunk and they have fantastic mind blowing sex together, so none of the rest matters, I suppose.
Billionaire's Lies By Kendra King ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ I received a copy to read in exchange for my honest opinion in a review.
The storyline is Surprisingly fast paced and well written. The characters are engaging and very enjoyable. The scenes are sensual, explicit and lovable. This is a great read it's engaging and will hold your interest. Its a standalone novel even thro there are other books in this series. This is my first time reading one of Ms. King's books, but it's not my last I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book.
The storyline is about Blake and Christina whom you will immediately take too. Some people think online dating is safer because they feel you don't have to reveal the real person first. They think that it's easier to deceive and keep secrets. But when the real world meet the online world the problems arise. It may be hard to understand how any two people could court each other for ten years online but has never met. But this makes their commitment a stronger foundation of love. The scenes are sensual, lovable and awesome. You get to see their struggle for happiness. Because Blake is so arrogant that he thinks he can control everything including Christina, but Christina doesn't want to be controlled. Wow this is a exciting romance. You may also fall in love with Vanessa who is a secondary character and Christina best friend.
This is a Magnificent book where two people find the love of their life. The story will leave you feeling happy. If you love romance this is definitely a fabulous choice for your TBR list.
If you believe in the world of love and romance then the possibilities are endless and fascinating.
I recommend this book to everyone who loves a great love story.
This book started out with a lot of potential. The basic premise is catching but then it spins off into something ridiculous. We start off understanding that Christina is hardworking and has not given herself the time to enjoy life. She has a phone/text/online only relationship with Blake and decides to finally meet him. They have an amazing night together and then he kicks with some lame excuse. She needs go back to him under another lame pretense or "getting the truth". She barely gets that and is gullible. With every scene, the book gets more and more ridiculous. Christina is completely gullible and allows to be in positions to be taken advantaged of. Sure, Blake may show her an "amazing" time by pulling out romantic moves out of his ass, but we hardly get an idea of who he is and why he does what he does. Only in the last ten pages do you get some form of an idea of what he's an ass, but even that is completely stupid. Christina hardly challenges his jerk-off actions. She completely self-pitying and doesn't stand up for herself. She sees him and swoons and then allows him to sex her up.
Good idea, poor execution. First half of the book is fine, the second half is a bore.
This was my first book by Kendra King and it was a good book to pass a few hours. The story of Christina and Blake I really liked, especially with how they had met and been involved with each other for quite a substantial period of time. Billionaire’s Lies does contain explicit sexual scenes and they are decently written but if you don’t like things like that, this book won’t be for you.
The story is told only from Christina’s point of view and I genuinely was surprised by a few things within this book. Just when I started thinking one thing, I would get thrown by something for a bit and then later on again I’d end up back to thinking my original thoughts. I like books that aren’t always overly obvious yet at the same time are subliminally but also don’t take forever to figure out. Towards the end of the book, however, I kind of went off Blake a bit for what he was doing and his reasons. Just seemed cold and harsh and I couldn’t make up my mind if he deserved a chance with Christina (only my love of HEA truly wanted it I think).
Overall, the book was a decent read to pass a couple of hours away and has a HEA and is a standalone book.
The heroine was spineless and stupid (and I don't say that lightly). And the hero was a sleazeball that was legit gonna get married to make more money to "provide a stronger future for her and his kids." He's already a billionaire! How much more money does he want/need?!
As a side note, what was up with the weird moments regarding her bestie and how she was petty one second, but then 3 sentences later, the most bestest friend since sliced bread?
Also, I never thought that I would get sick of steamy, sex scenes. Boy was I wrong!
I wanted to like it so much. Sorry to K King for not liking it, but it just didn't do it for me even in the slightest.
Page 18 and big fat nope. The description would suggest that you are going to see this really cute relationship build between these two characters... But no it starts in progress and you have no clue what their relationship is like except really awkward. The dude seems like a jerk right off. Not what I was looking for....
Christina and Blake....they have become friends via online chatting. She has developed feelings for someone she has never saw....that changes in one night. When they finally go out on a date you can feel the chemistry between them. Their story is challenging but their love wins in the end. loved it
I so loved this first book that I read by this author. The romance and the alluring details it enhanced came through the pages. Not only was it enthralling but the author brought out the thrill of change and the stars in ones eyes.
I read this book in hopes that the reviews were wrong and it would actually turn out to be a decent story. Unfortunately, I was wrong and it was actually worse than I thought. I'm surprised some people like it, as much as I hate to say this. This is an in-depth, critical review and does contain spoilers. Do not read if you don't want this book spoiled for you.
EDITING AND GRAMMAR: The most egregious thing about the book is the grammar and editing. The author seems to have written this without getting it properly edited at all, not even a formal skim through. Commas used wrong, strange punctuation in areas, inconsistent punctuation style, and "fanfic" type italics, exclamation points, and ellipses. It was not professionally edited, and that's easy to see. There were other things however, such as certain sentences that didn't make any sense:
"He was like hot cocoa and a cozy book next to a fire wrapped up in an enigmatic man with a deep voice."
OR
"It was hard, though. His green eyes were almost hypnotic, in that I was only freed once he blinked."
Very awkward sentences.
CHARACTERS: The characters were very poorly executed.
VANESSA Our main character goes to extreme lengths to describe her best friend, but NOT herself. Her best friend Vanessa is annoying and seems to be bipolar. Even though they apparently work as high level staff, I envisioned them as low level clerical workers because of their unprofessional attitudes (such as when Vanessa yells something vulgar at a few old ladies staring at them while they're out to lunch). At times she's petty, and others she's an amazing friend.
BLAKE He's introduced blandly. I immediately have no interest in his character whatsoever because of how he acts, which is reminiscent of an angsty emo teenager. In fact, the way Chrissy describes him in-between dialogue is completely the opposite of how he actually is. He's a jack***, and has strange motivations and inclinations. He has a personality that reminds me of wet cardboard, and no amount of the heroine swooning over him redeems his character for me, not even how much she describes his "hypnotic green eyes" which she goes on and on about throughout the whole book. Blake withholds what he is (a billionaire) during the first portion of their montage-style date, but after the very glamorous reveal is suddenly all about flaunting his billionaire status, which becomes annoying. It gets especially bad when they get to his four floor living space and he talks about his crown molding and artwork before attempting to f*** her at every opportunity in between. Oh, he also smirks a lot.
CHRISSY She's an airhead. She gets stepped on throughout the whole book, and is extremely needy. Things that should make her feel terrified (like how her 10 year online man toy won't tell her what he does for a living on their first actual date) make her sit there in la-la land and wonder about it instead. TSTL in other words. Frankly, I was more interested in bipolar Vanessa than Chrissy to start with.
STORY:
Many points of the plot and execution of the scenes were very lacking. -The start of the book was boring and didn't grab my attention. We get a thorough explanation of how these d*** fax machines need to get over to the wall and out of the floor. That about sums up the first part to me before they introduce Blake. -Throughout the book, Chrissy makes an effort to let us know that Blake is nonchalant, and sounds bored all the time. He "attempts" to make jokes, and has very little dialogue outside of trying to rail her, or wooing her with glamorous dates and wall trim. -Vanessa is suddenly freaked out when Chrissy is about to go on her date with Blake because of the "red flags," but this relationship has been going on for 10 years. -MONTAGE CONVERSATIONS!! This irked me pretty badly. Instead of meaningful conversations between Chrissy and Blake since this is their first time meeting each other and being together for the first time in 10 years, the author describes the date instead of actually making it a real thing. What did they talk about during this time? One can only wonder...Even when they do talk, their conversations are empty and shallow. -The unglamarous reveal of Blake's billionaire status was bad enough, but then the author decides to try to lay it on thick through Chrissy's over the top surprise about how rich he is. She goes on for paragraphs about how crazy it is that he's a billionaire. It seems like she didn't know how to create the climax at this part, and just let Chrissy's overactive mind do all thinking. Way too much internal dialogue. Also, while Blake is talking to her she says his voice began to "fade out." Now we get to listen to Chrissy ramble on nonsensically about what she's thinking instead of seeing any real character development between the two.
THE BITTERSWEET: Though the book was fast headed to 1-star for me, I did give it another star because the author does a fantastic job with sex scenes. There were some awkward phrases here or there, but not enough to get upset about. The problem with the sex scenes is that it is a.) ill placed b.) too much. There is way too much sex too fast. After they meet, have no real development, and Blake has been a bore while Chrissy has been an airhead, it's straight to sex on the first night and quite a lot of it. It looks like the author is very experienced with these scenes, but not actual story development. Also, Blake quickly goes from emo teen to horn dog in an instant. Because of how quick this happens, when he's telling Chrissy to be quiet throughout their sexy scenes, it almost seems like coercion, something I wouldn't think if their relationship had been more developed.
Overall, this book needs a lot of work. I think it could have been successful with some plot changes, better editing, and more refined characters. I unfortunately wouldn't recommend it, but it was very educational in terms of what a writer should not do when writing a story. I hope to see more thoughtful books written by the author in the future.

Now I didn't know what to expect when i started thks book. But wow. 10 years of friendship and not meeting. That's awesome. But it was messed up he did that without talking to her. She gotta listen to her bells and whistles next time. Great ending though
Okay, the sex was smokin', but I would have liked to see more character/storyline development. Yeah, she has known the guy for 10 years, but it went from zero to sixty without knowing more about their history.
The sex is hot and explicit (not a bad thing!). The romance, however, is completely absent until the epilogue. Christina reads more as a needy masochist who needs to grow a pair of her own so she won't be so addicted to Blake's. Disappointing
This wasn't the first time he had asked her out but this time he said it would be the last. She was nervous about meeting him. This story was very hot and very sexy. But the story kept coming through.
But overall I thought it wasn’t as exciting as it could have been or rather should have been. It was well written and the lead girl was not too annoying
I didn't finish this book so my review is not all that comprehensive. This felt a lot like I rushed less sophisticated version of Fifty Shades of Grey. The characters were not really likeable or relatable. The main male character was seemingly A complete asshole and the female character seemed like an overly trusting idiot.
I obtained this through Kindle Unlimited. I read to the 21% mark and returned it.
It's poorly edited. There are so many missing or incorrect words that it was hard to stay with the story. The writing seemed very choppy. It felt very much like telling instead of showing.
Chrissy is the heroine. She's an accountant for a marketing firm. Blake is the hero and he's a billionaire. He made his money as a game developer (along the lines of Candy Crush, I guess). The two don't actually know each other in person and Chrissy doesn't know what Blake does for a living. They met online and have had an online friendship for 10 YEARS. Blake has seen a picture of Chrissy, but Chrissy has no idea what Blake looks like. Blake has asked Chrissy out a few times, but she always declines. This time, when they talk, Blake reminds her it's their 10 year anniversary since first meeting online and he asks her out again, telling her it will be the last time he asks her. She finally agrees to meet him.
Chrissy is nervous that she's being catfished. After speaking to this guy for 10 YEARS. I think she's a moron.
They meet in a bar. She's speechless because he's the most awesomestly handsome man ever. He then whisks her away in his chauffeur-driven car and takes her on a helicopter ride. She's afraid of heights, but he immediately puts her at ease. Then they get back in the car to go somewhere. He fingers her to orgasm. Then licks her to orgasm in the parking lot of the building he owns (telling the chauffeur to come back in an hour). When I stopped reading, he was fucking her against the wall in his building while waiting for the elevator to take them to the top four floors (where he lives) in this office building he owns.
** 2 very mediocre stars ** I got the ebook free on Amazon and finished it in 2 hours.
This book started out with so much promise. Loved the first scene and how the H and h met online and finally (after 10 years!) decide to meet in person. But once they actually met it just seemed to go downhill from there.
I thought their beginning was sweet. I know from personal experience how well you can get to know a person by chatting to them online daily, so I felt like although it was a first date, they really did already have an established relationship. I didn't even mind that they told each other that they loved each other so quickly.
What I did mind was that the fact that the h was a complete doormat. She ignores all the red flags and throws herself at the H. And then, when she finds out that his engagement is fake and he's just doing it to get the deal, what does she do? She starts making out with him ????? - Not only is he willing to lie and deceive for a business deal, but he doesn't care how it's hurting her in the process...he's even willing to go through a marriage and divorce if it means sealing the deal. What an idiot! You don't do that to a person you really love, which made it hard for me to find their connection/love believable.
I didn't like either character. It's really a pity, because it's actually a well-written story. I think Kendra King has a lot of potential, she just needs a much better story line.

"Blake was an online friend for 10 years with Vanessa and every once and a while Blake would ask her for a date. Blake asked again and secretly Vanessa's wanted to accept but was afraid it would ruin their friendship if it didn't work out. This time he said if she refused he wouldn't ask again, so she said yes.
An intense relationship complicated with lies when Vanessa sees him with another woman. Can Blake explain this away or are there more secrets? Romance and tears keeps you reading to see the outcome.
If I could have given this book half a star I would have. The book was ruined before it even began. Before chapter one even starts you're given an excerpt from the end of the book. So before I start I already know that he is going to almost marry someone else and leave her stranded at the alter to rush back to the lead female character, who is so weak she just accepts him immediately. So the blurb of the book, that they've known each other for 10 years but have never met and that even though they are best friends she's never even seen a picture of him and he's keeping secrets, that all sounds pretty unrealistic but I went with it anyway thinking it can't be that bad. Well it was. Do not read this unless you just want to skip to the sex scenes (which are not that great) to get yourself off quickly.
