Rate this book
When Aborinth, a rare malicious being, trades places with her prey and becomes hunted by an unknown deadly creature, she takes refuge in a tiny village that she and her companion, Griev, a magnificent wolf of lore and legend, happen to uncover from under a blanket of deceptive magic. What they stumble upon inside this tiny village will change their lives and those of the villagers forever!

A horrific chain of events begins to unravel before them upon Aborinth's arrival, and she is to blame-or is she? Razel, their fierce and feisty witch, vanishes within days of being captured by a sadistic warlock who aims to utilize her powers for his master's gain. Their neighboring wizard Taanis, once thought to be one of their own, has a secret that begins to unravel before his mystical eyes. The remaining children born to their clan Eelios, Meeyuri, Zaria, and Wysper begin to take on new abilities-some even more deadly than the adults! One child's abilities become sentient and aware of their host, whereas another learns that he can shadow walk among the dead. This gripping tale is a feast for the imagination as well as a brewing cauldron of mystery, high adventure, and deadly twists and turns! There is something new lurking behind every tantalizing page!

It's not everyday a new author comes out with a truly original book, without falling into the usual "epic fantasy" tropes. but Sharron Andrades manages just that. Its not the typical chosen one quest novel so prevalent today. Instead, it is a complex moving tapestry of characters and settings, with complex depth and scope.Written in a Tolkiensque style, in that it has a lyrical quality and flow to it, it is very different, in a good way, from a lot of what is being produced today. The characters are engaing, and act with realistic motivations. It is really easy to see the world through their eyes. The magic used is part of the world, and really grounded in the story. The author has created a fully realized world that she brings the reader fully in to. The action sequences are intense and happen frequently, keeping the reader turning pages to see what happens next. I didn't want the book to end, but fortunately there is a second book in the works. I frequently compare books I review to similar books, but I can't in this case, since this one is unique in style. If your interested in something different than anpother Tolkien knockoff, this is a good place to start.

I was generously provided a review copy of this book in return for an honest review.

I really enjoyed this book. It was not your regular fantasy story, it was very different than any others I have read. It is very well written and I would highly recommend this book!

I'm sorry, I just couldn't get 10 pages in. The story might be amazing, it really sounded great. But it was so hard for me to read with all those exclamation marks everywhere. I couldn't.
