Loved this one!!!! It seemed to get mixed reviews amongst my GRs friends but I'm really glad I took a chance on it. I don't know if it was timing, mood or what but it worked for me. Loved Sloane and Hemi!

"Live, no regrets”

Sloane, our heroine...has grown up with her dad and three brothers. She lost her mom to cancer at a young age and ever since her "boys" have kept her on a tight leash. Trying to protect her from the world.

Sloane is sheltered. Inexperienced. Naive. And yes...she's the dreaded V word--VIRGIN! But it didn't bother me...it worked for me in this story. On Sloane's 21st birthday she draws a line in the sand. No longer will she live under the scrutiny of her brothers and dad.

"Live everyday like it's your last, none of us are promised tomorrow."

Step 1--get a tattoo. This lands Sloane at The Ink Stain where she meets Hemi. There's an instant attraction. But Hemi doesn't do sheltered, naive, inexperienced....and he especially doesn't do virgins.

Hemi and Sloane are kindred spirits. They both lose themselves in their art. They can see the pain and sadness in each other's eyes. But neither push for the secrets. And Hemi's secrets hit close to home for Sloane.

"I don't want promises. Most of the time, promises are just pretty lies. They're words designed to make others feel better. But in the end, they're just lies. Disappointing lies. So don't worry about making me promises. I'd rather have your truth."

As time passes, the lines get blurry between Sloane and Hemi...Hemi's quest for answers and redemption may cause him to lose Sloane. How important are those answers to Hemi? Is it worth giving up what he could have with Sloane? Will Hemi's secrets come between he and Sloane? Can Sloane forgive him for all the pretty lies??

"It's not enough just to have you once or twice, or for a little while. I want you to be mine. Forever. Because I love you even more than I want you."

I really liked everything about Hemi and Sloane's story. They had great sexual tension and while there weren't a lot of sexy times what was there was HOT. I also loved that it was told in dual POV, so we got Hemi's thoughts and feelings too. There were parts that made me smile and parts that broke my heart. Overall just a really enjoyable read for me!

Sloane is finally twenty one years old and she has had enough of being treated like a child by overprotective father and brothers. Long years constantly spend in the ‘cage’ are over. Sloane needs to spread her wings and live with no regrets. She feels like life is slipping through her fingers and if she doesn’t do something about it she won’t have a taste of real life.
To celebrate her birthday she’s going to tattoo parlour to mark her body with new motto. She didn’t expect to meet Hemi, a man that will shake her life.

All The Pretty Lies is one of those books that have a great concept, nice storyline and overall are very pleasurable read. Unfortunately, as much as I enjoyed reading it, All The Pretty Lies didn’t mesmerize me or hooked me enough to say that I loved this story. Yes, it’s nice enough and I definitely don’t regret picking it up, but for some reason it lacked a few things that would make it masterpiece in my eyes.

I think the time when I was utterly satisfied with a tattoo romance story is over. Now, I need and anticipate more from an author than a bad boy tattoo artist. I crave a wicked roller coaster, panty melting, heart wrenching, hands shaking ride. This time I got a ride on pink carousel. Nice, but not quite memorable.

I was looking forward to more in characters’ creation. I needed a little bit more of a goofy, laughable moments that could brigthen this book and make me swoon, and I also hoped for more steaminess. There were parts where I was thinking that I don’t feel the sexual tension between Hemi and Sloane and then out of nowhere a sexy little gem would pop out.

„You have no idea what you looked like up there. With your hair put up and a few curls dangling down on your shoulder.” Reaching out, Hemi fingers the strands that still rest there. “Your lips so red and kissable.” His eyes rise to my mouth. I have the sudden urge to moisten my lips. “And your breasts, so round and firm. Oh, God!” he groans, “I’ve never wanted to touch somebody so bad in all my life. Not one person. Ever. My tongue tingled just thinking about sucking one of those pink little nipples into my mouth. And when you looked up at me, I could see it in your eyes. You were wishing the same thing. You were wishing I was touching you.” His voice is low and thick, hypnotic. It oozes over my skin like molasses. “Tell me you were wishing I was touching you.”

Overall, All Pretty Lies is a nice, sexy read. M. Leighton completely surprised me once or twice and I had fun reading Sloane and Hemi's story.

description
description

This was an excellent read for number 200. I really, really, really enjoyed it!!! I loved that Hemi was teaching Sloane the ins and outs of tats!!! :D That was so different and as a lover of tattoos I really enjoyed it. The secrets that they were keeping from one another were deep and led to some really ugly crying/OH NO moments... Hemi was hot as balls, all alpha and smoldering yumminess! Sloane was adorable, a sheltered girl with a fighting spirit. I can't really say more than that without giving away too much. Definitely a great read to move up to the top of your list!!!

Here are some visuals for you...

"I've been tricked, like he flirted with me just enough to get me hooked and then he just...left. Emotionally. And now I'm left...wanting."

"I don't want promises. Most of the time, promises are just pretty lies. They're words designed to make others feel better. But in the end, they're still just lies. Disappointing lies... So don't worry about making me promises. I'd rather have your truth."

"...I wanted to make you mine, to mark you so deeply that you could never be anyone else's."

"I love that philosophy! It's why I've never made promises. We're humans. Frail and short-sighted. We don't have the right to make promises we have no way of keeping..."

HOLY MOLY....M. Leighton has done it again. This book was a masterpiece. Have you been looking for a book that will keep you intrigued and on the edge of your seat at the same time? Well All the Pretty Lies is just that book. This book kept me intrigued and on the edge of my seat from the very first page to the very last. I love M. Leighton's writing. It is flawless!!!! Right from the beginning you know that Sloane and Hemi are hiding something, you just don't know what. Of course I had my theories. I was glad to find out I was both right and wrong. This story was so captivating that I finished it in less then a day. I really just couldn't put it down. I have loved every book I have read by Ms. Leighton but I have to say this one has to be my favorite. I could talk forever about this book. But as usual I don't want to spoil this book for anyone.

Hemi and Sloane are probably two of my all time favorite characters. Sloane...I had to feel for her. She is a 21 yr old girl who, because of something that happened to her as a child, has been sheltered for almost all of those 21 yrs by her dad and her 3 brothers, who by the way are all cops. All she wanted to do was break free and live her life to the fullest and that meant living it doing what she wanted to do. Sloane knew that tomorrow was never a guarantee so she tried to live her life to the fullest. I loved that about her. Her and Hemi had the same philosophy in life...Live, no regrets!!!! And that's how she meets Hemi. Right from the start you can feel their attraction but we also know that there are secrets being hidden, so Hemi tries his darnedest to stay away from Sloane. I really liked the progression of their friendship into more. Even with the instant attraction we didn't get the insta-love. Now Hemi.....HOLY MOLY...that man melted my kindle ;). I can't say to much about him because it would spoil his secret. But I will say that you really need to experience Hemi!!!! He has moved to the top of my BBF list, he actually gave Brian Ross from Rock Me a run for his money :).

This was a book that I wanted to read fast just to know what was going to happen, but I also wanted to go slow because I didn't want it to end!!!! This book is full of romance, swoon worthy comments, suspense, twists and turns you don't see coming, and of course fear and sorrow. I will say that this book isn't chocked full of extra drama. Ms. Leighton had a good balance but what drama she did create it was over pretty quickly. I really liked that :). This book had everything a 5 star book should have!!!

I would recommend this book to anyone looking for a suspenseful love story. Oh and who wants to melt their kindle ;). If you are a fan of M. Leighton's you won't want to miss this book.

STEAMY. SEXY. SULTRY. MYSTERIOUS. SORROW. PAIN. HURT. GUILT. PASSION.

This books is... WOW... Jumps right in, no messing around. "HEMI THE HOTTIE" is true to the name, you are all about to melt like butter in his presence. His eyes are full of passion, lust, betrayal & hurt. His mind, body & soul are so deep. He is the predator who stalks his prey. Such a beautiful mysterious creature hiding his secrets deep within. Prepare yourself ladies bc you are about to get Rocked Hard!!

The day Sloan turned 21 EVERYTHING in her life changed.
Trying to be rebellious, no more protection from the world by her family, she wants to spread her wings & fly. She is 21 for crying out loud & has barely lived. Being the youngest sister of three older brothers, this does make life a bit difficult. No boys are rushing to her door, no matter how gorgeous she is. Oh yeah did I mention they are all COPS, even her dad. Poor thing... No wonder the spontaneous rebellious streak. I don't blame her!!!

Sloan is determined to make a change in her sheltered life, she decides on a tattoo that she has taken much time to create herself. It's an amazing piece that has beautiful meaning. When Sloan meets Hemi the Tattoo Artist, she is attracted like a moth to the flame. His touch ignites feelings inside her she has never felt before or knew such heat existed. They both fight the attraction, Hemi more than Sloan. One night another streak of rebellion strikes Sloan to peek Hemi's interest she informs him that she is posing as the nude model for her art class. He seems less than thrilled but she is very empowered & nervous as hell about her big risk. This night is a game changer...

Where the two meant to cross paths? Will their secrets tear them apart?

There are scenes in this book that the intensity seemed so real like I was really watching this take place right in front of me. I was utterly & completely engulfed in this book, I couldn't put it down once I had started. I was yelling at Michelle in my basement out loud bc that's how good this book was!!!

My Favorite Quotes :
"Does that go for all your employees?" "No, just the hot students that look like angels am taste like candy."

"I might've been right," he says quietly. "About what?" "You might be more devil than angel." "I guess you'll find out soon enough."

4 “butterflies” ‘Live, no regrets’ “little girl” ‘Frick!’ Kisses

Oh my...she did it again. M. Leighton turned me into a googley eyed happy little book worm. How??? How does she continually come up with these amazingly wonderful BBF’s, fabulous heroine’s you can’t help but love and these stories that just melt my heart? I don’t understand! Wait…I don’t want to understand! Because I love it!

Sloane Annelle Locke - first of all, love her name. Second of all, love her family, her dad and three brothers - even though all four are over bearing and protective, they are 6'4"+ teddy bears who love her…what’s not to love about guys like that? (Plus they’re cops – hello men in uniform!) Third of all…I love her spirit, her desire to be free and live her life, her love of art and all things creative and beautiful…I love that she said ‘Frick’ instead of fuck because of her family…there’s so much to love about Sloane. She’s strong, she has to be to compete with her dad and brothers, and while they have had a pretty strict hold on her life for the past 20 years, 11 months and 364 days…now that she is 21, she’s doing things her way – whether they like it or not. She might be sheltered but she is far from naïve and I thought she was a really smart and practical girl. But like every girl, it’s hard to keep your head on straight when faced with an über swoony bad boy with tattoo’s.

‘I nod. “That’s fine. I understand.”
“Still worth it?”
I nod again. The butterflies are more significant than what I’ve told anyone else, so I can honestly say that the pain is worth it for me. “Yes,” I answer.
Hemi’s eyes delve deep into mine, like he’s trying to see where the butterflies live, where they were born and what they’ve been through. After a few seconds, he says simply, enigmatically, “The important ones always are.”’

Hemsworth Spencer…Mmmm….Hemi…they don’t call him “Hemi the Hottie” for nothing, that man earned that title! And seriously, what’s up with another hot name, I love it. Hemi is…28…a bad boy to a ‘T’ with a shit ton of secrets that just about drove me batty. But he’s ‘sexy, beautiful , elusive Hemi’ …so he’s allowed to drive me a little batty. He had just enough edge to make him a jerk, but I still couldn’t stop myself from loving him…because as hard as he tried, he couldn’t hide the fact that deep down, he’s a good guy. Under all the tattoo’s, the attitude, the jerk-ish ways, the old school car…bundle that up in a tall, dark and handsome package with blue eyes that can turn midnight …well, I just didn’t stand a chance against him. It’s funny because Hemi is very…set in his ways. He knows what he wants, he’s got a specific purpose, a specific goal and nothing will deter him from achieving that. Except a raven haired girl with big brown eyes that knocks him off his game.

‘But a girl like her deserves nice, too. And naughty’s all I’ve got. It’s all I’m interested in. Especially now. Which means I need to stay away from her. I need to deny myself the pleasure of her. And I’m not used to denying myself anything that I want. Including women.
Sloane might have to be the first.
And I like it even less than I thought I would.’

I could not get enough of how polar opposite these two were at times and yet, how similar they are. She may be the sweet, innocent virgin and he may be the rough, tough tattoo’d guy, but they have more in common than you would think. Now…please don’t roll your eyes when I say she was a virgin…it’s not like that…Sloane is not your average virgin. I don’t know how to explain it but while she may not be experienced sexually, she is not some delusional girl. She’s very practical and I was totally into her whole outlook on her relationship with Hemi and what she was getting into. And…what she was getting into was some super hotness. There was so much build up by the time they actually did have sex I was ready to have a parade or something! And Hemi alone is deliciousness on a plate…but damn…the mouth on that boy was made for sin and I loved every minute of it. I loved the sexual confidence he brought out in Sloane and I loved his caveman possessiveness. So. Freaking. Hot!

‘I love this feeling. All these feelings. Most of all, I love being with Hemi. Touching him and being touched by him. I love the anticipation that’s building between us. I love that he’s watching over me, that he’s showing me some fun in a not-so-fun time. I love that he tried to stay away from me and couldn’t, that he’s not even trying anymore. And that he admitted it. I love everything about him and this night.’

Alright…I won’t lie, I was a little cautious of Hemi at first…there were a few things that rubbed me the wrong way, which was tough because there was also a lot that rubbed me the right way! His past, his family and his secrets were torturous and even worse once you find out what they are because you’re hurting for so many reasons…for him, for her, for their families...I was torn. So…the angst…the build…the secrets – now, I can’t hold everything against Hemi, Sloane had a secret of her own, but hers was relatively minor in comparison to his. It was killer not knowing…because it has to do with both of their families and I’m invested in both of them, but Sloane is my girl! I knew whatever was going to happen was really going to affect her because with her mom being gone, her father and brothers are very important to her. No matter how crazy they make her, she wouldn’t know what to do without them. But that’s the thing that probably makes them the most alike, they both have brothers and know how important they are to each other…they relate and connect in that way, which in the end is very important.

“When you’ve got a lot of regret to look back on, a short life can seem like an eternity in hell.”

As usual, I am blown away by the characters…especially Sarah, Sloane’s best friend. She. Is. FREAKING. Hilarious!!! OMG…she’s magical…so many times I was laughing out loud - like, had to stop reading because I was laughing so hard. And it’s not like she is insanely major to the story line or plot, but I cannot imagine this book without her in it. One of my favorite little pieces of Sarah goodness…

“He’s a man. He thinks with his dick. As long as you keep that in mind, you’re golden.”
“You should put that on a mug.”
“I know. I’m like a modern day Confucius.”
“If Confucius was full of random wisdom involving penises.”
“How do you know he wasn’t?”
“You make a good point.”

Really? See what I’m talking about? And there were quite a few of those! It gave the book a lighter feel and kind of sliced through the angst and sexual tension…which was nice. Sarah wasn’t the only one that I loved…I know the Pretty Series is not based on the Locke Family, but I am starting an official petition to make that happen. You do not introduce three tall men into my world, make me like them and then they just disappear…nope. Not okay with that. Steven, Scout and Sig need books – we don’t really get anything from Scout, but I loved Sig and Steven, and Scout is a mixture of the two, so how could I not love him??

“It’s addictive, having something that no one else has touched. It made me want more. I didn’t just want to have you. I wanted to possess you. I wanted to make you mine, to mark you so deeply that you could never be anyone else’s. I want you, Sloane,” I confess, reaching out to stroke her satiny cheek with the back of my index finger. “I always have. But it’s not enough. It’s not enough just to have you once or twice, or for a little while. I want you to be mine. Forever. Because I love you even more than I want you. And I never want to let you go. Never.”

EEEEP!!! So I already said it, Pretty Little Lies is the first book in a series...and I make it no secret, I love series! I have to say my eyebrows were a little raised when I found out that the rest of the series was based on Hemi’s brothers…not that I’m not dying to read them…but I didn’t get to know them as well as the Locke boys…so they are enigma’s to me…which is exciting! And Reese is up next…the oldest Spencer boy…and as much as I enjoyed All The Pretty Lies I wonder what All The Pretty Poses will bring!

Fazit:
“All the pretty lies – Erkenne mich” war für mich ein richtig gutes New Adult Buch.

I must say I was quite dissapointed with this book as I expected much more from it. I can't say I didn't like it, but I definitely can't say I liked it. Does that make sense? Oh well. The first half of the book was amazing and I'd rate it with 4.5 stars... but the other half was just bleh. I think there was just too much of cheesy and cliche and straight out stupid moments. I don't know how to put it really, but the heroine was at some point just too naive and too stupid for my understanding and liking... sometimes she made great choices, but at some points I was just facepalming myself. And the hero... okay, he sounds like a delicious piece of meat... he had some great moments.. but to draw that red line and to sum his character up, he had this double personality. At first he was this troubled persona and then all of a sudden that troubled persona dissapears. He goes from this distanced kid to over-affectionate one. Ok,I guess? I mean, he was sweet and hot and everything but i think the author doesn't really know how to limit emotions... i feel like she couldn't find the golden middle of it..some of his scenes were just confusing and stupidly thrown in.

Sex scenes were phenomenal. I mean seriously phenomenal. All the sexual interactions between the hero and heroine were great and with tons of chemistry.. but I felt, again, that that chemistry went to extremes when not involved with sexual tension. Or there was just too much of it (chemistry), or there was none of it.

The ending was nice, but I was misssing something there... too cheesy maybe? I just didn't feel the ending...no, actually I didn't feel this book, but i liked it without liking it. I can't really explain how i feel about it so I'm going to be neutral and rate it with 3.

Intriguing. Mysterious. Sexy. All The Pretty Lies was all of this things and more! I was quickly pulled into this story and within the first few chapters already trying to make a guess about what was really happening. This was a fast paced read for me and I devoured it in one afternoon!

Sloane has been a bit sheltered her whole life. After her mother's death, she was raised by her cop father and her brother's. They kept her close and treasured her. As a result, she feels a bit stifled. Now that she's a legal adult, she's ready to spread her wings. The first step, getting her first tattoo. She's found a design that has meaning for her and she wants it as a reminder to live her life to the fullest. Here's where things get interesting. The tattoo artist is dark, mysterious, and perrrfectly sexy. Sloane is definitely interested in learning more about him.

When I first met Hemi, I didn't have a synopsis to read or any background information on him. I went in blind. So, while I thought he was sexy and I certainly wanted to know more about him, by the end of the book...he blew me away. He is possibly one of the most complex males Leighton has written to date. And I absolutely fell in love with him. While his meeting Sloane was coincidence, their lives are more intertwined than they ever could have imagined. That's all I'll say about that. Just know that Hemi can't stay away from Sloane. While their relationship starts off with secrets, they truly find a deep love.

Leighton always creates supporting characters that I love nearly as much as the MC's. I loved Sarah. I have hopes that Sarah will end up with Sloane's brother. *wink* Then of course, we have the Spencer brothers. And honestly...I can't decide who I want to know more about; the Spencer boys or the Locke's! Both sets of brothers are yummy and I NEED to know more about them all! Leighton, you've created a monster! I love my sexy, broody, ALPHA boys!

Overall, I loved this story. The ending was absolutely perfect and I couldn't have asked for better closure to their story. And while Hemi and Sloane's story has wrapped up, I have a feeling we may get to see them again in other stories. At least I hope so! They're really a great couple. This is a book that must be on your TBR. This is a book that must be scooped up the moment it releases! Trust me, you won't be disappointed.

Quotes (Note: my copy was a beta copy and the finished version may be slightly different):
~Sometimes I feel like I've known him forever. Like I was meant to know him forever.-Loc 2856/beta

~"...I want you Sloane," I confess, reaching out to stroke her satiny cheek with the back of my index finger. "I always have. But it's not enough. It's not enough just to have you once or twice, or for a little while. I want you to be mine. Forever. Because I love you even more than I want you. And I never want to let you go. Never."-Loc 4457/beta

~"I've never wanted to believe one more than I do right this minute. So tell me. Tell me all the pretty lies. Tell me everything will be okay."-Loc 4485/beta

~"You are my hope. You are the promise of my future. Without you, I have only regret. Nothing good. Or colorful. Or beautiful. Just death and sadness. You brought me to life, Sloane, and I don't ever want to be apart from you."-Loc 4957/beta

Un 4'5 en realidad.

RESEÑA//

"Vive, y no te arrepientas."

¿Una historia dulce, romántica y siendo new adult?

⇝My Thoughts⇜

M Leighton can definitely write something that has feeling (at least between the hero and heroine)…and the words flowed with ease while reading this book. I just feel like a lot of the New Adult Genre lately is getting boring and repetitive. If I had read this when it first came out or even when I first purchased it, I probably would have rated it higher. I did try not to let it influence my rating too much though.
While I felt the connection between the two main characters is amazing, I didn't really feel like that between them and any other character. It seemed like the secondary characters just took second fiddle to them, almost as if we weren't suppose to like them. It made the ending and everything to do with "all the pretty lies" come off as unconvincing.
⇝Sex Factor⇜ Yes, but it's not overdone though.

I need to read another M. Leighton book.... I usually don't go for naked girls on the cover... but I am willing to over look that. It has really great reviews.

“Live, no regrets”

Her…
Sloane Locke has led a sheltered life. However, with a history like hers, she can understand why her brothers and her father want so much to protect her. She has gone along with it for twenty long years, but those days are over. For the girl who never makes promises, Sloane has made a pact with herself that things will change on her twenty-first birthday. So when the clock strikes midnight, Sloane strikes out to spread her wings and break a few rules.

Him…
In addition to inking skin, Hemi Spencer possesses many talents. Controlling himself has never been one of them. It’s never had to be. He’s lived a life of indulgence for as long as he can remember. Right up until tragedy struck. Now, he’s nothing but controlled. He’s a man on a mission, one who will let nothing and no one stand in his way.

Them…
Nothing in their lives could’ve prepared Sloane and Hemi for what they’d find in each other—distraction and obsession, love and possession. But the one thing they can’t find is a future. Neither one has been totally honest. And they’ll soon learn that the devil is in the details. In the details and in the lies.
How far will two people go to live in the now when the now is all they’ve got?

ONE OF MY FAVS THIS YEAR

When I first started the book I was a little hesitant. You have Sloane, a 21 year old virgin who decides to finally let herself live, steps into a tattoo parlor only to meet Hemi, the tattoo hottie. I was really worried, afraid that it was going to be like so many others I’ve read, but I was definitely wrong.

I absolutely loved it! I adored Sloane. She was strong willed, trying to gain her independence from her overprotective cop brothers and cop father. She wanted to live life to the fullest, knowing all to well that moments aren’t guaranteed.

She meets Hemi, as she goes in for her first tattoo, her first act of independence. They have a connection, bonding over their love of art, and this intense chemistry.

“He smiles and, for a second, it’s like my soul connects with his in a way that transcends words.”

And Hemi. I absolutely loved Hemi and all his sexiness. He had a bit of that bad boy, take what he wants attitude. He’s hot and mysterious.

As you read each alternating POV from Sloane and Hemi you can tell that both are hiding something. They both have secrets that they can’t share, or aren’t willing to share with each other.

I loved the chemistry they both had. Their scenes together were nothing but hot. Hemi was so incredibly sexy. Things he would say to Sloane had me melting. He tried to stay away from her, tried to resist her, but the attraction was too much and he just couldn’t.

“I know I’ll hate myself for this tomorrow, but I have to have a taste of you, Sloane. I can’t deny myself for one minute. Let me show you what I was thinking when I saw you lying up there. Let me show you what it feels like when a man stops fighting.”

There were some exteremely sexy scenes in this book. Hemi is definitely a man who knows what he is doing and it was hot. How he spoke, his actions. And there is this sexy, steamy sauna scene that was insane. Hot Hot Hot.

As Sloane and Hemi get closer and closer, the truth start to come out. And it can tear any relationship that they had or hoped to have apart. Hemi’s secret leaves Sloane feeling used while Sloane’s secret makes Hemi realize how much Sloane means to him and how much he can’t live without her.

The story is a really wonderful one. I though it was well developed, touching and I won’t lie, I got a little emotional towards the end. The secrets that they were both hiding had me in knots, so afraid of the aftermath once they were out. M. Leighton took me through so many emotions in this book. I loved Hemi, I hated him, I felt sorry for him and I even rooted for him at times. I wanted them to have a happy ending so freaking bad.

I’ll go ahead and say you get an HEA. You also get an epilogue that’s sweet and made me smile. I would definitely recommend this book. It was a touching, sexy, suspenseful yet an emotional read and I adored it. It’s definitely going on my favorites list for this year.

More Reviews Here: Readers Live A Thousand Lives

Guys… if it wasn’t official before, it is definitely official now. M. Leighton does not know how to disappoint. I just absolutely head over heels loved this book. From beginning to end, I loved every little bit of it. It is just one of those books that digs its way into your heart and stays there. It’s a book that you do not shake easily, but you don’t really want to shake it.

I’m starting with Hemi, because guys, I absolutely loved Hemi. He is just so so special and sweet and sexy and charming and lovable and wait for it…. he is a tattoo artist. Yep, I had no way of resisting when it came to him. I loved everything about him, even when he made some decisions I didn’t really agree with, I still loved him. I understood completely why he did the things he did and my heart broke for him. Even when I knew his decisions would bite him in the butt, I knew why he had to do them. And really he doesn’t act any differently than you would expect someone in his situation to act.

Sloane is another one I loved. She is such an awesome heroine. She is so strong and independent despite being smothered by her brothers and Dad her whole life. She is determined to live her life to the fullest and not have any regrets. When she meets Hemi she knows he is what she wants and she goes for it. I admired that about her so much. She finds something she wants and she goes for it, no hesitation no shame, she just does it. I wish I had the guts that Sloane has. She takes her life and makes it her own and I admired that about her.

Now of course the romance is a heavy aspect in this story but it’s also much more. It’s about lies and deceptions and how they can break things. The plot has an undercurrent of suspense and drama. It also has a very emotional plot line, one that is more emotional than just two scarred people falling for each other. All The Pretty Lies takes drama, suspense, romance, love, firsts, lies, tragedy, and rolls it all into one heck of a story.

While the romance isn’t the only aspect, it is a very important one. This story is very much about Hemi and Sloane finding one another and falling for each other. The chemistry between the two is so hot and the tension is palpable. Their interactions together are amazing and sweet but still very very steamy. I loved how their romance grew and that it didn’t happen all at once. Of course there is initial attraction, but their love takes time to fully form and it’s beautiful to watch.

All The Pretty Lies is yet another wonderful story from M. Leighton. It is everything I have come to expect from her, but still completely different from her other books. I highly recommend this book to all.

There's not enough stars on here to show how much this book freakin rocked...
EPIC... Beyond phenomenal...
And new book boyfriend... OMG... So flippin in love with HEMI!!!!
Ahhhhhhh!!!!!!!!

Full review:
*sighs*
I am so nervous about writing this review. You know when you come across a book that you just LOVE and you really hope people will see how much you LOVE it?? Well, yeah, that's me with ALL THE PRETTY LIES.
You see, truthfully, LOVE doesn't really describe the way I feel about this book. At least not in it totally. ATPL is that book...THAT book....
The one that you read and it reaches so far down in to the core of your soul and then it wedges it's way in, shoving other things around and then it nicely sets up its permanent residence. Yes...ATPL will forever be with me. After weeks have gone by after reading it, plus having read other great books, ATPL still plagues and haunts my thoughts...ALMOST daily...
Am I surprised?? No, not really...We are talking about a M. Leighton book anyway...I know I will love it just because she wrote it...but I just need to say....I have a huge book hangover...
YES...and to say I have a book hangover of ginormous proportions would be saying it mildly, but yes, a book hangover is truly what I have. But, I believe now, reading ATPL is really about finding that book that is a missing piece to your soul. Yes, there will be several in my reading time...but this one has found its spot and nothing will be able to take its place.
*inhales deeply*
So, now that I have tried to explain how much this book affected me, I hope to give you some insight to just why it is so wonderful.
Well, let me start by saying that M. Leighton is just pure genius. Her storylines are brilliant and she knows exactly how to capture you right from the beginning. ATPL does just that. We meet Sloane, a girl that is ready to tell off her over protective father and brothers and just take a shot at freedom. She is snarky funny, a little naive and really just a genuine person. Not once during the whole book did I find myself getting irritated with her or wanted to slap her because she was annoying. She was strong and vulnerable at the same time and in my opinion to create a heroine that exhibits all these characteristics and not get on my nerves some time during the book shows M. Leighton's ingenuity. Now, of course we know that these amazing HOT romantic novels aren't all about the heroine. YES, that means there is a SMOKIN GORGEOUS hero that will bring ALL YOU LADIES to your knees... OH YES...LADIES...listen up...I believe I have found my true love book boyfriend...his name is Hemi. *fans self* I may have to take a minute as I have begun to get a little excited thinking about Hemi again....*cranks up air conditioner and sprinkles water on my face*
Ok, sorry.,..I have gathered myself now...
When we meet Hemi, tattoo artist, he is this mysterious guy that just instantly screams for Sloane's attention... (mine too!!) The time these two spend together provides so much sexual tension you can just feel it oozing off the pages. And then we come across that ONE scene...yes...that ONE scene that turns everything around in which you start to get all giddy and excited because you know the JUICY FUN scenes are coming...
And we all know that M. Leighton writes some of the SEXIEST SCORCHIN HOT scenes out there....
BUT....BUT....
ATPL is not all about the romance...M. Leighton provides us with a suspenseful tale that is full of twists and turns, making sure to keep you guessing at just how everything is going to turn out....
I was biting my nails, holding my breath trying to figure out how this book would end and let me just say...PERFECTION...*muah*
ALL THE PRETTY LIES is pretty much one of my top 5 reads for this year....Heck it could probably be number 1 itself...
So, make sure you get this book and find out for yourself just why I LOOOOOOOOOOOOOVED this book....
A DEFINITE MUST READ!!!!

Im not sure who I love more M Leighton for her damn good books or her fictional bad boys. Holy S***, hello Hemi Spencer! Tattoo...ummm yes please, ill be right in to The Ink Stain! Damn, what a super quick, well developed little dynamo of a read. This book had all the right elements I needed in a romance...a scorching hot male with wicked bedroom talk, a strong female lead, a web of lies and deceit, suspenseful moments, and most importantly a very real relationship that built over time.

Hemi and Sloane are both awesome characters. They are likeable from the very beginning and as their relationship grows together, so does the likeable attributes they possess. Both are smart and sassy. They have a take charge attitude with no signs of personal weakness. Sloane especially is amazing as she is both sweet and strong. She never apologizes for what she wants or how she feels, a true maturity appreciated by this reader especially for a young character. “I don’t want promises. Most of the time, promises are just pretty lies. They’re words designed to make others feel better. In the end, they’re still just lies.”

I really loved how Sloane and Hemi both respect each other and develop a friendship over their art talent. The more time spent together, the more intense their attraction becomes. Soon it becomes clear, Hemi is not the only one teaching life lessons as Sloane is opening up Hemi’s heart making him want more than he ever realized. “It’s not enough just to have you once or twice, or for a little while. I want you to be mine. Forever. Because I love you even more than I want you.”

I have added both Hemi and Sloane to my favorite couples. I strongly recommend this to anyone looking for a fast hot read...get your cold glass of water and settling in for some Hemi time!!!!
