Dave Roever, a Vietnam veteran, pastor, and motivational speaker, has written this guidebook incorporating his testimony with case studies from other wounded veterans, to give a positive message that it is possible to recover from the wounds of war.
If you want the full Dave Roever story, this is not the book for you. His full biography can be found in "Welcome Home, Davey." If you are looking for a book about hope that comes from a veteran who was critically wounded, and at one time left for dead, who overcame his struggles, physical and mental, and has transformed his life into something positive, you've come to the right place.
This is also not a complicated book. It is not a clinical study of "how to" do anything. This is not an academic work. It is written like a pastor who is concerned for the health of a parishioner. In other words, it is a starting point. Begin here.
After reading two of Roever's other works, one of which I rated five-stars, I'm giving this a four star rating because it is almost a little too simplistic. Taken together, "Welcome Home, Davey," and "War & Recovery" will give you a more comprehensive picture. Taken alone, "War & Recovery" doesn't measure up to the excellent level of writing as "Welcome Home, Davey" but its not too far off the mark.
