War of the World....

Indigo Robertson signed up for the Draconian Mating Lottery years ago trying to secure a future for her parents with the money she would receive, but was never a match to any Draconian, so she went on to win a scholarship to college. Now after years of having been invaded by the good aliens, the Draconians mortal enemies, the Mulgor have decided to destroy earth in an attempt to extinguish them once and for all. In comes the Draconian Military Armada headed by the highest ranking General Vlosh and as it would have it Indigo is a match for the General. Indigo's parents and best friend are slaughtered by the Mulgor and she cares not what could happen to her, but she soon finds that she has a strong pull towards the stoic and stiff General, but he thinks she, no is sure she can be the answer to end of the Mulgors reign of terror. And the end to his lonely days of war.

First of all I want to say that I did NOT finish this book (a rarity for me). I made it to 51% and couldn't take any more of Indigo's patting her own back - I could not count how many times she thought she was strong and had to protect her roommate, or thought she was strong because of her upbringing in a bad neighborhood, or thought she was strong because someone had to be, or thought she was strong to protect her parents. Very repetitive (how many times in a couple of paragraphs do I need to be told that the sirens are going off?). It was made very clear, several times that her roommate was whiny and having difficulty dealing with the invasion. After totally loving Celia Kyle's Preor books and SE Smith's Dragon Lords of Valdier, I was hoping for another fantastic series to get absorbed in but this series just isn't for me. I will try this author's Elemental Dragons series and have my fingers crossed.

The fourth installment may be my favorite. Strong young woman, Indigo had a tennis scholarship and rooms with her best and only friend. When earth is attacked by rival aliens she uses level headed actions to help her friend and herself escape the enemy aliens.

The Draconians had come to earth seeking willing mates in exchange for technology. Earth was not ready to handle the advanced offerings. They are trying to repair the damage while they continue the mating to save their almost exclusively male population.

When the enemy aliens attack, Vlosh heads the military come to destroy the enemy of both earth and Draconia. In the midst of the battle planning he is called to meet his mate. He would put the process on hold if he could, however Dracula males don't have any options.

Watching the strength of his mate while learning of her ordeal and trying to do his military duty they manage a relationship.

I really enjoyed watching this couple come to terms with their futures and responsibilities. Respect is vital in any relationship. Maybe our earth men can learn from the aliens.

The Mulgors who are the main enemy of the Draconians have discovered that Earth is where the females Draconians need to mate with are being found. So they set out to destroy it.
Indigo Robertson is studying sports science at university when the first attack comes. She must call on all her inner strength to survive .
Vlosh is a Draconian General and in charge of the fighting force just brought in to get rid of the Mulgors and protect Earth. He has not got time for his mate who has just been found on the data base, but his dragon has other ideas.
This story has lots of tragedy, and sadness for our heroine, but she is made of very strong stock. The laughs in this book come in the strangest places, like when she is walking on the moon. Our hero is a typical soldier always putting the defence of others before himself. He is also very sexy. I think if I was still a fertile female I would definitely put my name in the mating lottery. I am now officially addicted to this series. Bring me more. PLEASE.

The best part of these books are the bluntness the males have and Vlosh is quite blunt, “it is better if you leave the semen on your skin to do its job,” he said." I really do enjoy seeing these alpha men turn to mush when they find their mates.

Aaaalright, time for a nice, honest review. I didn't review the first three, and I probably should. Still, #4 is here and I'm ready to lay down my opinion. I will not summarize this book, because there are plenty of other reviews that do so. Please feel free to look there if you like.

It's really hard to like this book. Insta-love, shaky-at-best psychological profiling, ill-written characters, and lackluster narration made this story really hard to drag myself through. Characterization is one of my big sticking points here — Indigo is supposed to be strong, independent, and let's not forget sassy (since every character is apparently supposed to be sassy). However, the author spends more time narrating this than proving it. Indigo panics and cries, and then supposedly gets over one of the most traumatic events a person could ever experience in... under 24 hours. Some of this would be fine; panicking, crying, and such are fine because she's human, but it doesn't say strong — it says "resilient." If she grew up in a bad neighborhood, I would expect her to be more confrontational when she feels threatened, at least. By a similar turn, the guys are supposed to be super head-over-heels for their girls, but if you read this, you'll see there are some seriously condescending, bullcrap lines they spout. I've been screaming in a Discord chat for half an hour now on how some of these badly-written lines just HURT to read. I'll let y'all go dig up your favorite gems for yourself.

There are some good qualities about this book though. Out of volumes 1-4, I think this one offers the best actual content. The character goes through genuine trauma, the leads face each other in spite of Indigo's trauma and Vlosh's duties. I really do like Indigo's giving nature — that's something I identify with a little too well — and I like that Vlosh doesn't baby her after they finally get down to business. The plot in abstract is actually quite good, and I like it. The characters face several reasons to mature together, and it makes them one of the more believable couples thus far.

My honest feelings are that the book is technically — as in technical skills — well-written, but that the content of the writing is haphazard and careless. If I were to give advice to the author, I would say 1) establish more solid, well-rounded, detailed character profiles and follow them like scripture and 2) take more care in your narratives:

Ex. Molly immediately saying she'll "try" when Indigo threatens to leave her behind — there's no description of if it took her a few seconds to respond, what sort of expression she was making, what her posture was like, what her voice sounded like, nothing.

In reverse, Ex. Over-narrating that the main character is strong, has grown up in a bad neighborhood, etc. which are concepts that don't demonstrate anything. A character with these two characteristics might be illustrated as slowly collecting thoughts, wary when approached by strangers, slow to trust, often cynical, short (verbally), possessive of a caustic humor, hypervigilant, and so forth. These are things you show in a narrative, instead of condensing it down into a word or a single phrase. A character lives and breathes this, so be conscious of showing how.

Not true to the original Draconian stories

Contains subject matter that may be a trigger or offensive to some including adult language, steamy intimate scenes and violence.

Apparently there is another line of Draconian stories by Juno Wells and Scarlett Grove. These are nothing like the other stories.

Do NOT read beyond this point unless you don’t mind spoilers from the this book as well as the newer series.

Last warning ... I am going to point out some of the differences between the two series.

Physically:
- No tail like the original
- The new ones all have hair, with the original only a few had something similar to hair, but it was rare
- The ability to shift in the newest series. In the original there were a few warriors that were had more dragon DNA, but they couldn’t shift and could only light up flammable objects.
- The males produced a mating scent that acted as a repellent to other males and an aphrodisiac to females.
- The males had the ability to produce eggs when exposed to the pheromones of females. These eggs where then placed into an incubator until they hatched.
- No mention in the original about the inner dragon driving the Draconian insane once the mate was found.
- Nothing in the original about “process” used in the new series to help prepare the female to receive her mate.

Earth:
- There wasn’t a mating lottery
- Mates were not matched by a computer program based upon DNA
- There wasn’t a mating armada. They had just cobbled together approximately 5 ships under Queen Cassandra and were working on establishing a new world in the Naxis system
- The enemy was called the Moltan and not the Mulgor.
- The entire story about why women were seeking to leave earth. The original had the earth being destroyed by climate change with acidic and toxic oceans. Plus a virus attacked males and now females out number them 4 or 5 to 1. Nothing about the Draconians needing to refresh their DNA for survival.

Other:
- Males acted completely different in regards to their females. In the original they were forced to be subservient until freed by the human females kidnapped from earth and rescued.
- Every woman was considered a queen, treated with respect and was told their word was law, so to speak.
- The struggle to leave the Exion system and make it to the Naxis system to escape the parasite wasn’t referenced at all.
- Draconian females were infected by a symbiontic parasite that slowly took over the body and mind. They entered the queens through their ascension, after which they were given a ship and a thousand warriors to rule in the Exion system.

Believe it or not, I could keep going, but I think these identify why I didn’t rate it 5 stars. I gave it 3 stars only because this story wasn’t bad, it just wasn’t a true Draconian story. I would have rated it at least 4 1/2 stars if the authors had called the aliens something else.

The Draconian war has made its way to Earth and the Draconian enemies are on the ground killing people in big cities everywhere. They are especially attacking colleges, presumably where young, fertile women are.

As screaming starts in the hallways in Indigo’s dorm, she convinces her roommate to climb out through the window when the stairwell is too clogged to get down. Turns out, that act saved their lives. They escape and eventually make the harrowing journey to Indigo’s parents’ cabin far out of the city.

After being there for several days, they realize they are almost completely out of food, and Indigo is chosen to go to the nearest town to get food. She does so, but is attacked in the grocery store, only escaping due to her athletic ability. On the return trip, she receives a call that she has been matched to the Draconian general in charge of the war and must report to the consulate immediately. When she returns to the cabin with the food, she finds her parents and best friend have been murdered, and an alien ship soaring towards the sky. Not knowing what else to do and fearing for her life, she goes to the consulate and is sent to the general.

In the midst of battle planning and execution, the general does his best to take care of Indigo after realizing she has been traumatized. Between putting off mating for war issues and her mental trauma, his mental health begins to be an issue. He seeks help from Commander Or for his bride and significant action and forward progress with the war happens from here. The general and his bride go through quite a bit before they finally are truly mated. I think of all the pairs, these two may be my favorite. He makes a major mistake in this book that I can’t help but wonder if he’d been able to overcome Indigo’s trauma sooner so he could mate with her sooner if he’d have not made it. However, by the end of the series, things may have all worked out for the best.

Strong female lead, who is easy to connect with.

Loved this one. An all to human woman goes through the whole of emotions. She is strong in she doesn't let her adversity take her down. She overcomes all obstacles and is loving as she thinks of other, but human enough to to get the thoughts of this would be easier without you. Her hunky dragon warrior is awkward but loving(hot and sexy) as he struggles to win his mate, and pacify his dragon, who raging to claim its mate as he struggles to save planet earth from there long time enemy.

Alien dragon shifters protect Earth in exchange for brides

Draconians need human brides to give them children and help continue their race. Their ancient enemy comes to destroy Earth so the Draconians won't have any brides left. Indigo is matched in the bride lottery to Vlosh, the highest ranking general of the Draconians who is commanding the war against the Mulgor while trying to claim his mate and tame his inner beast.

As the General in charge of protecting the Dragonians and the people of earth from the Mulgar, Vlosh can't afford any distractions. Vlosh's dragon doesn't care about distractions, he only cares about being with his new mate Roberta. Almost to late the couple figure out that taking care of each other will allow them to take care of everyone.

Indigo and Vlosh: A great match

What a great book! It was scary, exciting, adventurous, even though there was loss, the love and understanding outweighed the sorrow. Indigo was strong minded and strong willed, able to think outside the box and even with the loss of her family and best friend, she traveled to the unknown and found the love of her life, Vlosh.

Live a strong woman!!

I love these short stories, it is nice to "meet" each character. This story is one that catches my attention and holds it. It has romance and adventure, even if most of the adventures are bad for Indigo.

Alien General's Wife

A fun, quick read with a leading lady with lots of spunk and a hard headed, hotter than heck alien man. If you're a fan of aliens and match making than this book is for you. Some action gets thrown in and some very steamy scenes as well.

So many things wrong here, but for a light read well just close our eyes to the fact Indigo really needed help, she have been horribly traumatized and yet days later she’s perfectly happy? But the story is sweet.

The women are stepp…
The women are stepping up and not just being semi-victims so that’s about the only thing that saved this one. I’m not going on with the reads though, too much of the same is boring.

Good Dragon

Overall, this was a nice book, but I found it to be a little lack luster for me. I guess not enough drama or action for me. However, I did love the twist after Indigo had an unexpected loss, but it was a pretty uphill story after that.
