Valencia Arceneaux is Lézare's free-spirited sister. She's a white tigress shifter with a mind of her own, the one who always marches to a beat of her own creation, the hell with shifter society's expectations, the hell with her brother Lézare's. She attracts men like sugar attracts ants. She doesn't fall in love. Except...
She's late to the ball. She's ready to face her brother's wrath because attendance is expected. Ha. As if expectations ever mattered to Valencia. She gets out of her car, ready to face Lézare and instead sees this wolf shifter. Hunky, handsome, and fierce. But they have history. A history that's best left buried. Her interest flares. Her tigress roars a message that resonates.
This is combustible.
If hot sex skeeves you out, you may want to pass on this book. If freaky, downright dirty sexy talk bothers you, yeah, for sure you gotta pass on this one. We believe in sex--hot, dirty, delicious sex. Yup, make it sweaty, too. It's not just sex, it's about the romance. But good romance has sex, and we keep the doors open! Oh, and the lights on! ;)
This is the story of another Arceneaux sibling—the carefree wild-child Valencia. She manages to miss nearly all the events happening that weekend at their New Orleans villa and when she finally does show, she sees the other Nielsen, Rory, and flees just as fast as she got there. This story is fast, mysterious, and sexy. It seems that just as fast as I started it, I’d finished because I was riveted! This story is a doorway to so many more stories and questions. If the stories that follow this one are nearly as juicy as this one, you’re in for one hell of a ride!
We just knew that those crazy Arceneaux cousins were going to be a lot of fun and Ms. Thorne does not disappoint us with this look at the free spirited absentee sibling of Lézare's Arceneaux. Disobeying an order by her overprotective brother lands Valencia Arceneaux with a secret that could destroy the ones she loves. Rory met a beautiful shifter on an online sight, just when things were getting hot she disappeared. Imagine his surprise when she shows up at the Arceneaux ball and he finds out who she really is. Now that he found her he is not letting her go. Lots of twist and turns in this plot, makes me wonder what Ms. Thorne's end goal is going to be. The two main characters are made for the other, both are wounded and need the support of the other to make them whole. Interesting side characters were introduced leading me to believe something big is brewing and its going to be a doozie. Interesting storyline filled with some hot sparks from our lusty wolf and tiger. Never a dull moment when we visit our favorite characters and we are always left wanting more and more. I look forward to seeing what is in the works and I can guarantee I will not be disappointed but the wait is killing me.
With Combustible Elle Thorne has added a new dimension to her Shifters Forever series. Now there are vampires. The series keeps getting deeper and deeper into the supernatural. Elle's ability to weave her stories is amazing. With each new book the plot thickens and the lines blur. Something big is coming....
Rory and Valencia's story - these are quick reads for sure. Each building on the previous story, so the world building is limited in each story, but broad in the over arching stories. This was a fast insta-"love"/mate as are all the stories in the series. So if that's not your thing - this isn't for you.
1.5 Stars. Marginally better grammar than the second book. Marginally worse storytelling. The only thing I like is seeing the story unfold through so many different eyes.
I love this series. I think this may be my favorite pair of characters yet. These really are great characters. I loved their banter and how the sparks just fly between them. And of course their both troubled in their on way. Ms. Thorne has gift for writing flawed, complex, deep characters. Love flawed characters they have so much more depth put into them. The book is a fun, witty, wild and fast read. I recommend it to anyone that likes shifter books.
While these claims to be a standalone book I don't really feel it is . They are references other people and other things going on. When you begin the book you're basically in the middle of another book . It okay read, but if you have no real clue as to what has already happened, I just don't think you get the same enjoyment out of it I certainly didn't .
