Bill Gaultiere is a psychologist and spiritual director. By the age of 30 he had published three books with mainline Christian publishers and sold over 40,000 copies.
But then God led him to go on a 20 year hiatus from publishing in order to better love Christ, his wife and three children, and everyone in his circle of influence. During this time he was personally mentored by Dallas Willard and experienced a great spiritual renewal. 12 years later he wrote: "Your Best Life In Jesus' Easy Yoke: Rhythms of Grace to De-Stress and Live Empowered."
Bill and his wife Kristi have their doctorates in psychology and are the founders of Soul Shepherding, Inc., a nonprofit ministry that cultivates intimacy with Jesus for pastors and other servant leaders. Their website receives one million page views per year.
Bill and Kristi Gaultiere have been counseling and ministering to people for 30 years. They are authors of "Journey of the Soul," published by Revell in 2021.
Bill is a psychologist who has served in private practice, co-led a New Life psychiatric day hospital, and pastored churches. Kristi is a marriage and family therapist who has also served in private practice and church ministry. Together they are the founders of Soul Shepherding, a nonprofit ministry to help believers discover their next steps for growing in intimacy with Jesus, emotional health, and loving relationships. They live in Irvine, California.
Enjoyed it! This book provides you with many ways to connect with God. The problem is you can get stuck on trying one discipline until you forget that there is more to read. Yep, that happened to me. I am enjoying what they call Breathe Prayer. It is breathing and praying God’s Word. It can be very helpful if you are trying to change a habit, such as, profanity. Instead of getting all hot and bothered about what someone said or did, you’ll pause, then breathe and pray.
The interesting part is there is a section on “Blessing Your Competitors.” It will make you laugh, but seriously, we should be a blessing to everyone, not just our love ones. I wrote more about this on my blog.
This book is AMAZING... just what I needed! A friend recommended Soul Shepherding website 5 years ago when I opened my business. I Love everything about it. One day I would love to be able to go on the TLC retreat. I am not a pastor, I own a business called Becoming you, it is a hair salon, but my aspiration for it is much more. I feel as though with this book my vision could actually come true! Sincerely, Tammie
People talk about books that changes their life, this one changed my perspective. I took a long time to finish it and I plan to revisit it in the future hopefully with a small group to join me. It is a powerful reminder of the love, kindness and gentleness of Jesus. I am so entrenched in seeing God as a harsh judge and put my own form of self hatred in Him. This book is a lively visor that also provides tools.
For anyone looking for a break from the traditional, religious ways of following Christ, this is a wonderful book full of practical ways to rest in the peace Jesus freely gives. I will be reading this over and over as I learn to practice and apply the breath prayers in daily life. This book has changed the way I view my walk with Jesus and has helped me relax and experience Him in a new way.
As the true saying goes, even a counselor needs a counselor at times. This was huge as I still have deep immense Traumas in my own life. I am still healing and processing. I look forward to reading this over and over and working through the process. It gave me a freeing I was praying and longing for...I just needed to hear it from another. What a blessing!
If anyone is looking to not live so burdened in life then this is a great book to work towards living a life with Jesus. Easy read with very practical excercises and questions that go along with each chapter.
I loved this book. I re read parts all the time. First picked it up a few years ago when struggling with bad anxiety. I've recommended it to others and they've enjoyed it too. It's a keeper
Cheesy title, high quality content. The book needs to be rereleased with some editing but the content is gold for Christian leaders looking to care for their souls. Highly recommended. The Gaultieres’ podcast is excellent too.
