The Cowboy’s Last Goodbye is an emotional powerhouse of epic proportions. Ben and Harper both have made promises to themselves to never fall in love or marry. Can an all consuming love break down barriers they both have so vehemently put in place? This is one book to read and not miss. It was so wonderful to see how all the Thompson boys are doing and the other Morgan siblings. This book felt like being home among wonderful family members. Shanna Hatfield can definitely bring Sunshine on a rainy day, her books make you never want to leave them with a Last Goodbye!
I enjoyed this newest addition to the series! I love both Ben and Harper. Harper, lovely and sweet, was very happy with her life and didn't want to be too involved with anyone. Ben's thoughts were just that, he would never be like the other men in Grass Valley, fall in love, marry and have a family. Dating was fine, but not permanently. But love is in the air once again in Grass Valley and if you are like the other Morgan's and Thompson's, there's no hiding from it. This is a sweet clean romance but written with lots of sizzle along with humor I've have come to expect from this Author. But there were quite a few glitches along the way, with a secret I would never have thought of. I loved Uncle Cletus and General, Harper's military dog. Both are very loving and humorous additions to this book. I enjoyed reading again how the families are all growing and all the other wonderful characters that live in these books. I have read this entire series a long time ago and just loved each of the books in it. I thought it was over and was so happy when I discovered there was going to be a sixth book coming out. In preparation, I read the entire series over again. And I have to tell you, I enjoyed it as much or even more the second time around. Each of the characters that are in each book are written so well, you want to be best friends with them. I am so happy to hear that there will eventually be another one. This book can be read as a stand alone and after falling in love with the Grass Valley community, you can always start from the very first book in the series. JudyE
The sixth book in the Grass Valley Cowboy series, readers who have followed these families will be reunited with them, and follow along as Ben and Harper begin their journey.
Another amazing and wonderful story by Ms. Hatfield. This is Ben Morgan’s story, the oldest Morgan who was determined not to get married, no way was he going to do that. Ben meets Harper Hays and is lost already in this incredible lady. She is beautiful, fun, sassy, and just the woman he has imagined was for him all along. She is fun to be with, fun to tease, and just an all around really wonderful and exciting woman. They date secretly as neither want to be married. They just want to be friends and hang out together. She lives with her uncle who everyone knows as a cranky man, but he just puts on that air. He is the only relative she has and used to live with him during the summers on his ranch. She loved being at the ranch. He was laid up for a bit so she came back from Boise to help him. She is an accountant but started working at a shipping office on Ben’s suggestion as the other person retired. Ben is a Captain of the tug boats that push the barges up and down the Columbia River with wheat and other harvested crops from farms and ranches around the area. He has to stop at the office to get his papers signed for each load and sees that Harper did get the job. So now he stops often. They go on dates and have fun with her military service dog who was her brothers, and was wounded so he can no longer serve. They are great campions and he protects her. This is a fun, very funny, teasing, and inner turmoil for both. Lots of togetherness, and then problems pop up that change everything. I highly recommend this story. It’s so good and I think now my favorite in the series.
Sweet and enjoyable story. Plenty of sizzling kisses between these two who, in their minds, had no intention of going anywhere with their romance other than being friends that kissed. But, when Harper realizes she's fallen in love, she tells Ben who, sadly reacts badly even though he loves her as well. I adored his character for most of the book but he did use a very lame excuse to her as to why he couldn't pursue going further. Thankfully, after a brief time of him being dumb, he finally tells her the actual, real reason. I did think that Harper, as hurt as she was, did let him off the hook a bit quickly.
I will miss the Thompson and Morgan families! After reading all six books within a week, I grew to know and love them. My favorites are three of them. The first book with Trey and Cady is in first place, the Travis and Tess and then Denni and Hart. I will be re-reading those soon! Hoping for a seventh book! I also enjoyed all the quotes at the beginning of each chapter in these books 😍
So I was a little surprised when I saw there was a book 6 in the series. The previous book just seem to wrap everything up so nice and neat. And that made me a little skeptical about the story because honestly, it felt a little bit like a tag on. Or an afterthought.
I did notice in the authors notes at the end she mentions that she had not intended to write this story. The last book was to end the series. But readers ask her to write Ben’s story.
From earlier books, there was a very obvious obvious woman for him. And I love that Shanna did not go that route. It made this a better read, to me, since there was a lot of unknown and surprises. Well done!
The six books portraying the life of the three Thompson brothers of the Triple T ranch and the Morgan brothers and sisters growing up in a nearby ranch. This all takes place in the cozy community of Grass Valley, Oregon. Hopefully, Ms Hatfield will find more characters in this wonderful community to add to the mix of delightful characters. A must-read for anyone enjoying good, clean romantic western based tales.
Shanna Hatfield is one of the best author's I've ever read,I have read every book of hers I can get my hands on, the grass valley series is amazing I read every word with anticipation of the next part to come, if you love God,family, friends, humor and fun loving pets then buy every book Shanna Hatfield writes..I hated when I finished the last book of the grass valley series and I'm so hopeful there will be a new Grass Valley series.
I hate to come to the last of the Grass Valley Cowboy series
This series of stories has been delightful from the first to the sixth. This story has a more melancholic tone to it than the prior ones. If you've enjoyed the prior stories you'll want to continue to follow the lives of those who live in Grass Valley.
I've read all six books and just loved them. All the character and their stories were interesting. I got lost in every one of them, feeling like I was there living their lives. I especially liked when the situation got too hot and something always happened to stop it. Very clean and loved the anticipation of each character in the way their love evolved for each other.
Loved the way that Ms. Hatfield gave us closure on the Grass Valley Cowboys. Ben was the last bachelor standing and Harper had to be a mighty fine catch to cause him to fall! I loved all the updates on all the Thompson and Morgan couples that I got attached to in the previous books....such a lovely community and families to be part of.
I enjoyed this series of books. I cried and laughed. You could relate to the stories. The things the characters went through could and have happened to people in real life. I am looking forward to reading more books by this author. Hope the author writes more books about the characters in this series.
Ben Morgan has made his mind up to never get married. He dates women until they start to get serious. Then he ends it with them. When he meets the right woman his outlook will change. There is someone who comes into his life. How will he handle the attraction.
This book was worth reading. I enjoyed it because it doesn't go into sexual details. Also it was real interesting. It had about military service dogs in it.
I absolutely loved this book. What a stubborn man Ben is. I love the way everything turned out. This whole series was well written. I recommend this book.
Ben Morgan has some shocking secrets that keep him committed to being a bachelor. Harper Hayes is convinced she will remain single forever after her unfortunate childhood convinces her there is no such thing as a happy ending. After finding that they each genuinely like each other, Ben and Harper begin to see more and more of each other, and something more than friendship develops. While one person is ready to consider the next step, the other is not, and their time together comes to a screeching halt. It would seem that they've each said their last goodbye.
The entire Grass Valley series is amazing, and this book is no different. While this is written and can be easily read as a stand-alone, if you are familiar with the characters from the previous books, you will enjoy being updated on their lives, And if you haven't, you will no doubt want to go back and read each one because they are all equally excellent. Like all of her books, Shanna writes this one with humor and heart, her characters are completely engaging, and there is more than a little clean but palpable sizzle. Loved this book!
Finally got to read "The Cowboy's Last Goodbye"! I have had it since the day it came out, but we've been very busy and I was waiting for a time when I knew I could really take my time and savor it as I read it! And savor it, I did! Absolutely loved the book and the characters. It was so great to get to know Ben (he's always been in the background and I loved finding out more about him, his personality, and his background in this book) and to meet Harper. I loved both characters. Shanna Hatfield does such a good job of writing fun, balanced characters who don't get on my nerves. :) The ladies are feisty without being aggressive and pushy. The men are masculine without being "macho" jerks. And she always has just the right amount of romantic spice that makes my heart melt without taking it too far. It was such a pleasure to catch up with all the Thompsons and Morgans! Can't wait for whatever Shanna Hatfield has in store for this series in the future!
Loved getting to know Ben more, he had been in the background in previous books and this time we finally get to know to really know him. You know that Ben is unsettled with his life, but is determined not to fall in love like his brother and friends, but after meeting Harper he knows there is something different about her and can't stop himself from spending time with her. Harper has had a bad childhood experience and doesn't trust relationships, but decides to spend time with Ben anyways. As much as these two try to fight it their hearts become involved. Will they push each other away or will they get over their fear of relationships? It was great to catch up with the Thompson and Morgan families again. The ladies are feisty and the men are masculine without either being to over the top.
Ben Morgan has no plans to marry like the rest of his family and friends. After watching her parents' dysfunctional marriage, Harper Hayes doesn't believe there is a single man who can turn her head. After Ben and Harper meet, those thoughts may change.
The Cowboy's Last Goodbye is the sixth Grass Valley Cowboys book. Shanna Hatfield's inclusion of Kenzie and Tate Morgan was a neat surprise, as well as Ben and Emily's bond. It was fun to see how the Thompson and Morgan families have expanded. I am sad this series is coming to an end.
