Can you say crazy, I mean CERTIFIED CRAZY. Dr. Kasen Phillips has the magic touch when it comes to helping his patients who are in dire need of counseling services, but when the love of his life winds up missing in action, Kasen’s life takes a horrific turn for the worse.
Voncile is his office manager and secretly in love with him. No matter how many hints she throws at him, he tends to ignore them, but Voncile gets what she wants one way or another. This chick right here….Did I say CERTIFIED CRAZY…I can’t say it enough.
If you love books with crazy chick drama, this book is for you. The authors did a great job with the storyline and a great job with the characters. I thought I was watching a Lifetime movie instead of reading a book. Great job Carl Weber and Brenda Hampton.
I listened to the audio so I don't know how to spell anyone's name lol, so forgive me in advance... This book had loads of drama and crazy! It was at a point where I felt there was a crazy competition going on! But if you read (or listen) you'll definitely know who the winner was. To what great lengths crazy will take you.... and for a man (that ain't even yours to begin with!). Kaison was a good catch, had his flaws but overall he was an ideal book boo. I'm not sure (maybe I missed something or it wasn't mentioned) what made Rain hesitate with Kaison before things took a horrible twist. That was the only piece of the book that had me wondering there was something more to find out. It was definitely over shadowed by Voncill's antics along with her crew of misfits. Wonder if Kaison's mother would've told him of her instincts would things have gone as far as they did....but that wouldn't have made for a great book now would it lol. I really enjoyed listening to this story come full circle, it held my attention throughout and I was definitely in need of a good listen! Great job Carl Weber and Brenda Hampton!
This was a great book full of twists. If you are looking for a book with drama and with a crazy chic/obsession this is a book for you. The authors did a great job writing this page turner.
So overall, this wasn't a typical Carl Weber novel. However, there were moments where I couldn't help but roll my eyes and just want to get through this book.
I do think this book could've ended much sooner that it did, because one person can only take reading so much crazy.
There was of course attractive men, beautiful women and love and jealousy involved in this book. However, why it's relevant to know what car they drive or how they feel that they're looking "stylish" was a bit too much. It wasn't the worst I've read and it did keep me entertained.
This book can honestly be finished in a day or two. It doesn't need to be stretched out longer than that.
Kason Phillips has met the love of his life in Raine. She provides him with all of the love he needs. Just when he decides to take things further she winds up missing leaving him to move on to somebody that he will wish he never knew. Will he find out the truth before it’s too late?
This book was so good and I would gladly recommend it to others looking for a drama filled book. Even though there were some parts I saw coming, there were more parts that I did not see coming. It was the crazy chick book I have been looking for.
I’ve been a long time ready of Carl Weber. I would say this is a decent read however, for Kason to be a therapist he was sure pretty terrible at reading Voncile and his best friend Omar. I think there were parts of the story that were a bit far fetched, however it was a decent read. There were some parts I enjoyed and some parts that were just “meh”. The end was a bit surprising I’d say but definitely deserving for most parties involed. However I do believe this was worth the time. HOWEVER, I did listen to this through audio book.
Ohhhh....Myyyyy....God....This was the first Carl Weber' book, that I read. I loved it. The characters were well defined in an emotional and complex creative manner. The background to their stories were also very detailed and elaborate.
I really love the strength and compassionate bond between Kasen and Raine. Neither one never gave up hope of finding one and other. Raine found her unique inner strength by believing that Kasen never stop loving her.
Voncile is such disgusting psychological damaging person. I can't believe the things she did to Raine because she obsessively in lust/love with Kasen. I also love the ironic ending.
I highly recommend this book and is looking forward to reading more of Mr. Weber's books in the very near future.
Another interesting read. Carl Weber never let's me down. Brenda Hampton is good also. I wasn't expecting this book's plot to be what it was but nevertheless it was very good.
Everything was right in Kasen life,he's a successful doctor in a relationship with the love of his life and has a best friend that he could trust,What happens when he decides that marriage is the next logical step?skeletons fall out the closet and a wild and crazy ride ensues.
This book had never ending drama from the beginning to the end . What a powerhouse combination of Weber and Hampton putting their signature five star mark on this book.My heart couldn't take the suspense in this book yet I couldn't put it down.Hopefully there is more to come from this dynamic collaboration
So I just finished "The doctor is in" and I'm like..Wow. It took me a day and a half to read this book. I could not stop turning the pages. This book was CRAZY! This is the type of book that won't leave your mind for a while. That damn secretary needs some serious help. I don't care if she seen her mother get murdered in front of her own eyes, she didn't have to kidnap Raine. If Raine would have simply said "Yes" to Kasen when he asked her to marry him, then none of that drama would have happened. Kasen should have never told that crazy bitch he was proposing to Raine. All that did was stir the shit pot even more. Why did Raine have to hesitate?! Jesus Christ this book was Definately a page turner. I have never read so much deceit, betrayal, obsessiveness, shit in my life. Kasen was being played the whole time. The way Voncile used her body to get her way was unbelievable. Truth is, their are women out here that do that very same trifling shit. I HATED Voncile with a passion. Raine should have just said yes, so Voncile would have never gotten the chance. Kasen was a weak man for falling for Vonciles games. He got played so good in this book. Voncile was so obsessed with Kasen, she was willing to do ANYTHING to be with him. The drama never stops in this book. I absolutely loved it. I couldn't stand Omar. Women beater piece of shit. I felt zero sympathy when Voncile beat his head in. Patrice was a sneaky, trifling, whore herself. The fact Omar, Voncile, and Patrice were ALL in the plan together, was crazy! Voncile was playing Omar too! Patrice was just a piece on Vonciles chess board. Her ass got played too! This just shows you how far a obsessed woman will go to get what she wants! I literally felt bad for Raine. Kasen should have been smarter than what he was. Being a therapist, seeing Voncile wearing his woman's shoes, clothes, jewelry, ECT he should have seen the signs. Voncile had raine captive, pregnant with Kasens baby, telling Kasen that Voncile was pregnant instead of raine was crazy! Voncile was one of the most vindictive, manipulating, characters I have ever read. This book had so many twists and turns, I just couldn't put it down. She wrote a dear john letter to Kasen making him believe raine left him for another man, when in reality, it was Voncile plotting to be with Kasen. Only if Raine would have said yes instead of hesitating. I was SO mad at RAINE FOR NOT SAYING YES. One of the most fucked up parts was when Voncile brought a tv into Raines room where she was being held captive. Voncile made it a camera, so Raine could see everything that was happening right in front of her eyes. Raine had to watch Kasen and Voncile have sex. All the intimate things he did to Raine, he was doing to Voncile. I would have destroyed that Tv. I can't believe how crazy that shit was. I be damn I'm held captive, while watching my man have sex with another woman on camera. Kasen thought raine left him for another man, so kasen was messed up in his mind, and was weak to get over Raine. I'm so glad Voncile got caught in the end. She was pregnant with kasens baby too! omg! Raine was one hell of a woman to keep that baby. Voncile in a crazy house, to never get out. Raine escaped and found Kasen. They had their baby together, and Raine also took in Vonciles baby by Kasen. What a woman man. I wouldn't have been able to do it. I loved this book. absolutely crazy as hell. I will be reading more by this author Definately. loved the style. loved the story. 5 star book right here.
I finally finished reading this book. It was a great read once I got my mind together and understood what was going on. Voncile was one screwed up woman. Kasen was a very very native man and his homeboy Omar was a total different situation all together. I really felt bad for Patrice she was such a follower didn't have a mind of her own in opinion. Brenda Hampton did her thang in this book. She has never disappointed me that s why I rock with her all the time.
This was not one of my favorite books, overall an okay read. Many twists and turns, Dr Kasen Phillips seemed out of touch on many parts of the story. Voncile and Patrice were both certifiably crazy. Seemed a little rushed at the end of the story. I'm left with many unanswered questions. Overall it held my attention as I was praying Rains came out of this alive! Seemed more Carl Weber's style than the style I've come accustomed to from Brenda Hampton.
I had this book since the day it came out and I don't understand what took me so long to pick it up to read it. I am so glad that I finally did. The collaboration of Carl Weber and Brenda Hampton was excellent. This was a book club read and I would love to hear what everyone has to say about crazy Voncile.....I definitely recommend this book.
Love the book I know all can't end the same way but Jesus that crazy lady needed to go out in a whole different way after all she did. Truly enjoyed the read but I feel something in part one stirred the pot for a part 2 to happen. How about it authors Weber and Hampton?
Mrs Brenda Hampton has done it again, her books you will never be disappointed, Voncile was crazy as hell, Kasen was very naive for a man, Patrice was a follower that filled the wrong one and Omar got what was coming to him
4.5 stars. This was a quick and easy read. A real page turner that's full of drama. Great character development. Amazing plot. I was a little disappointed in the ending because I felt they could have wrapped up the ending better. I recommend to others
I finished the book but i found myself skipping chapters to keep the story moving. The ending was anticlimactic. All that drama building up and then it falls flat.
First of all let me say Carl Weber never disappoints with his books and he didn't this time either!!! Poor Kasen. I don't understand how he was a therapist, but couldn't see all the craziness surrounding him. I began to question Kasen actually loving Raine because if he truly knew her he would have known something was not right. If he really loved her, how did he give it to Voncille so quickly and easily. Also, how in the heck are you seeing another woman "coincidentally" wearing your girl's clothes, shoes, even her perfume. He was that out of it that he wasn't able to see what was right in his face. I understand the way to get over one is to get under another, but really? (you should at least know what you getting under) His conniving, ratchet, unmotivated friend Omar got exactly what he deserved. What kind of man blames another man for his failure in life due to not loaning him money to pay for textbooks. Hello, where were his parents or better yet what happened to student loans? Greed and jealousy will get you every time and Omar was no exception. Poor Patrice, she didn't get past 10th grade so I expected her to not be able to think very well. If all she had to offer was her body, I knew she wasn't going to make it. LOL Now let's get to this crazy fool Voncille. I know how fine Kasen was to her, but she was the definition of C-R-A-Z-Y and O-B-S-E-S-S-E-D. How you let a man drive you to kidnapping his fiancé, killing, his best friend, and killing your accomplice? I understand she had a rough life with witnessing her mother's murder, issues in the foster system, and killing her dad but dang she took it to far. As for Raine, girl why you didn't just tell that man yes and talk about them problems when y'all got home. That would've help avoid all of this!!! But I have to say, she has a very good heart to forgive Kasen for all that has happened and take in his baby.
Overall, this was a very good book!! Couldn't put it down. As I said, Carl Weber has done it again!!

Where is the line drawn between obsession and stalking? How far do you go to show someone that you like them? How far is too far and how do you know when to stop? Is there a such thing as a healthy obsession?
Dr. Kasen Phillips is a counselor who has a heart of gold. He is very empathetic with his patients and that makes for a great counselor and a great man. The love of his life, Rain, is the woman that he has been waiting for all of his life. Once it finally clicked that he needs to make some changes for his happiness everything is going so fast he can barely keep up. Is this the right decision and has he gone about it correctly or has Kasen messed up for good?
Voncile Harper is Dr. Kasen's office manager and she is very thorough at her job. She takes taking care of Dr. Kasen and his business very seriously and she will not let anyone interfere with her business. When Voncile decided that she wanted to do more than take care of Dr. Kasen she sets forth a plan and when that plan gets started, everyone in her way better beware!
The Doctor Is In is a very well written book by two excellent authors. You always know that you are going to get a great read when you have two powerhouses collaborating. Weber and Hampton have distinct writing styles and you know they are going to give you a story that flows, the characters go well together and it will leave you with a solid feeling that the story is completed. I look forward to reading more from these authors in the future.
The Doctor Is In is available in various formats everywhere books are sold, Kindle, paperback, hardback, Nook and audible editions.
This book is just ok. It was def entertaining but extremely farfetched. The story had so many holes in it. I thought it was weird that he was going to propose the same day he went to the jewelry store to get a ring. Thought it was weird he didn't put more thought into the proposal. Weird that Omar had so much hate towards Kasan that he got Voncile in on his plan to destroy him. How long was Omar planting seeds of doubts with Raine? Why didn't Raine mention her communications with Omar? That was never resolved in the story. What exactly was Omar's relationship with Voncile? Voncile plan to use Patrice to distract Kasan didn't make sense. Why didn't Voncile see the "Help Me" in the basement? Voncile didn't have an alarm system to her house but she was harboring kidnappers and dead bodies? What happened to Omar's body? Contrary to public perception, it's not that easy to get rid of a body.
Anyway, if you can suspend reality and ignore all of the above, this story is mildly entertaining.
This book was a quick read. The storyline was over the top for me, like a soap opera. Weber is a veteran author so I was surprised to see so many errors. When I was younger, I was an avid Carl Weber fan...maybe I'm evolving as a reader. I'm sure I will read more of his works to see if it's me, or my Weber season is truly over.
I cannot believe Kasan was so naive about Omar. Not only that, as a therapist, he didn't see any inconsistency in Voncile? And Patrice? The one character that was believable to me was Raine.
Mental illness is real. I understand that Voncile's mind shattered as a child due to the overwhelming things she experienced. Also, Kasan's response to her at the end lacked professionalism and compassion. I know the ordeal was life threatening but he has to take responsibility for his part.
Rating: 4/5 ⭐️. Read the physical book from my local library.
Wow this book was a rollercoaster. When I tell you I was getting so irritated at certain parts especially with how Voncile was acting. I wanted to jump in this book and beat her ass myself.
Voncile is the ultimate mentally unstable woman. Murderer, Kidnapper, and a Liar. She needed serious help!!
Kasen is such a good man and therapist but he was dumb as hell when it came to seeing the signs that Voncile was CRAZY!!
Raine went thru so much but at the end of it all I’m glad she made her way back to Kasen and wasn’t physically harmed(killed) by Voncile or Patrice.
This was such a great read. My eyes were glued to the pages. On to the next book!!
Carl Weber always finds a way to make the most wild things happen in his books, and "The Doctor is in" is no different! In this standalone novel, Dr. Kasen Phillips is a well-respected psychologist who has a way of making people feel understood. He not only has a thriving career, but also a great relationship with his girlfriend Raine. All seems well, until Raine is kidnapped and Kasen's life takes a turn for the worst. Can he figure out what happened to Raine? Is the culprit closer than he thinks? Will a new woman in his life make him forget about Raine? Read it and find out! TW//mention of mental treatment, kidnapping, violence, mention of sexual assault
I wished I could’ve loved this book like I thought I was going to but it was alright. Kasen was too naive for me believing everything being told to him at the jump and he took too long to put the pieces of the puzzles together about Voncile. It also had quite a lot of sex scenes which I didnt care to listen to. The story was predictable as well. Raine is a better woman than me lol after Voncile got caught (epilogue). Carl Weber and Brenda Hampton are good writers but this story was kind of too long. The book was alright so I gave it 3 stars
This is the first book I read by Carl Weber and definitely impressed. I enjoyed the plot twist and every chapter learning just how unstable Voncile really was. Although this book was enjoyable I did find myself wondering how odd it was that Raine’s job never contacted Kasen about her whereabouts after an ample amount of days or friends or family.
