Erstwhile

In the foreign land of the Range, the cities are as magical as the people. Some even say they have souls of their own.

Fresh from long months spent in the wilds of the Range, gunslinger Dill Dervish finds a new home in the city of Erstwhile. In a world where magic is nothing special, Dill is one of the unlucky, cursed by a corruption that eats away at his very soul and travels over his body as a living tattoo. Resigned to a slow death, Dill decides that pursuing outlaws is the way to redeem himself before his inevitable end. His latest hunt ends with the capture of a woman named Mine, one of the few who knows how deep Dill’s corruption is running.

Soon, Dill finds himself suddenly running from demons and sorcerers alike. The darkness is gathering around Erstwhile, promising to unleash a destruction that will end the lives of thousands. A darkness that Dill might have had a larger role in creating than he realizes.

In a world of chaos and power, of drought and death, of blood and sand, how can Dill hope to survive without redemption, let alone save the one woman that just might understand him?
