Unforgettable Hinton #5

My UnBroken Heart

Rate this book
Can an old lie turn into true love? Bad boy and sole owner of a successful chain of gentlemen clubs across the nation, Quentin Hinton has no time, patience or interest in love. Not after his brother, Sterling had stolen who he believed to be his soul mate years ago. That devastating experience with the fickle emotion has chewed him up and spit him out. None of the women in his infamous black book or the ladies who shimmy on his club’s poles have been able to pull him out of his funk. He’s taken his problem to doctors, churches, and once a palm reader. No one, it seems, can mend his broken heart. But that doesn’t mean that his demons or rather—love—is through with him. There’s someone he’s overlooked, but when he least expects it, love shows up in the middle of the road—already wearing a wedding dress.

Adrianne Byrd

National Best-selling author Adrianne Byrd has always preferred to live within the realms of her imagination where all the men are gorgeous and the women are worth whatever trouble they manage to get into. As an army brat, she traveled throughout Europe and learned to appreciate and value different cultures. Now she calls Georgia home.

Looking back, Adrianne believes her passion for writing began at the ripe old age of thirteen. It was also the age when she was introduced to romance novels by a most unlikely source: her fifteen-year old brother. The book was probably given to keep her out her brother’s hair, but it was a gift that changed her life.

In books, Adrianne found a way out of her awkward teenage years and into a world of fictional friends that would stay with her for a lifetime. It wasn’t long before her imagination took flight and she was writing her own love stories. Within a year, she completed her first book, which she vowed would never see the light of day.

Writing remained a hobby until 1994 when a co-worker approached her with an article on Romance Writers of America. Who knew there was an organization of women just like her? By 1996 she sold her first novel, Defenseless, to Kensington Publishing.

Her first release received rave reviews by Romantic Times and fans. Her other novels were consistently selected as the Magazine’s Top Pick. In 2001 Slam Jam nominated, Say You Love Me, for best romance. Her 2003 release Comfort of a Man won Romantic Times Best Multicultural Romance, Romance in Color’s Readers Choice Awards for Favorite Book, Favorite Hero, and Favorite Heroine; Shades of Romance’s Best/Arabesque Romance Book; Slam Jams Emma Award for Favorite Traditional Romance; Romance in Color’s Reviewer’s Choice Award for Author of the Year, Book of the Year and Best BET/Arabesque Book. And lastly Comfort of a Man was a 2003 Georgia Romance Writers Maggie finalist for best Contemporary. In 2004 she released her first romantic suspense novel, If You Dare, with HarperCollins. In 2006 her novel Measure of a Man was nominated for Best Multicultural Romance while her Harper Torch novel Deadly Double was nominated for an Emma. In 2007 she won an eharlequin.com Joey Award.

In 2006 Adrianne along with fellow writer Niobia Bryant penned her first Urban Novel, DESPERATE HOODWIVES, writing as De'nesha Diamond. The book is set for release February 2008 from Simon and Schuster. For more information, visit http://www.deneshadiamond.com.

Ms. Byrd has been featured in many national publications, including Today’s Black Woman, Upscale, and Heart and Soul. She has also won local awards for screenwriting. For the future, she looks forward to continue creating characters that make people smile, laugh, and fall in love.

OMG...I've been waiting for Quentin's story for a very LONG time...it was good but NOT exactly what I was expecting from the notorious BAD boy...enjoyed the SWEET innocence of Lizzy...I thought they made a cute couple...and I enjoyed catching up w/the rest of the cousins and meeting the Malone's...I was a bit disappointed in the cliffhanger after waiting all these years for Quentin's story...I was like WTH...lol...SURPRISINGLY there were too many errors in this book...it interrupted the flow of the book several times...something I'm DEFINITELY not use to from Ms. Byrd...just MHO...overall it was a GOOD read w/quite a few INTRIGUING twists and turns...and I'm looking forward to reading the next installment...just HOPING we don't have to wait too long!!!

I have waited forever for this book! I have read all the books in this series and I loved them, that's why this review is so hard because this was not my favorite. Elizabeth and Quentin were cute but the story was just OK. It had the history and all the King and Hintons brothers which was great, the romance was there and the story had some truly funny moments, it was just missing that WOW factor that I usually get from the lovely Ms. Byrd. I love Adrianne Byrd, her books are so good and I will not stop reading them but this one ws , kind of Eh!

Worth the Wait

So glad most of Quentin's story was told. Thanks Ms Byrd, but please get a proofreader. Hopefully the finale is on its way. $9.99 was a bit much though for an ebook. Ms Bev and Ms Brenda don't even ask that.

Worth the wait

I literally looked everywhere to get me hands on a physical copy of this book and had no luck. Finally I decided to read the ebook copy and it was EVERYTHING I could of hoped for and more. It was funny. It was loving. It was downright amazing. The only negative I have is that miss Adrianne byrd passed before I could reach out and let her know how much her books inspire and mean to me. #RIP to a writing legend. And if anyone has a copy they don’t want, please reach out

OMG! I LOVED THIS BOOK!

I waited for this story. I have enjoyed every part of the series. I like the flow of all of the stories but My Unbroken Heart offers a tremendous amount of entertainment with the perfect mix of humor, romance and craziness. I loved it.

Too Long

This book has too many twists and turns. One main plot with 2 subplots would suffice but that’s not the case. The fact that there is a part 2 is overkill. I thought this would be the best Hinton story but it hasn’t been for me.

Loved it

I have been waiting to read Quentin's story and it was worth the wait. Quentin has matured and with the help of therapy has found his true love. The story is funny and has a lot of twists.

This was not my favorite book by 's. Byrd and I've been a fan since she started. It wasn't the price or the delays. The problem was the story. Too much extra nonsense. Instead of the book being about Quentin, it seems like 7 different story were being introduced. Hope the second part is better than the first.

I have nothing but love for Mrs. Adrianne Byrd. I waited a while for this to come out so I was excited to find it. Overall, it was OK. There were some things I loved and some things I didn' like.

Positives.

The story is funny and I was so happy that Quinton's story got told. Of course (as with all of her writing) it was a page turner. The story line was great. I didn't see things going the way that they did. There were a few "Oh Man" moments, which I always love.

Negatives

In the kindle version there were a few typos and editing issues. Byrd tried to introduce a few families and family members for new stories. Totally unnecessary if you ask me.

Also I hated the ending. I am trying not to put any spoilers but we water so long for Quintin's story why couldn't there be an absolute conclusion, even if it wasn't a happy one.
I will probably read the next one because I need to k ow what happened but I hope it is better than this one.

Very disappointed

I am very disappointed in the way Quentin's story was written. It seems to me that there were way too many words used to lengthen this poorly written story. Some of the supposed action descriptions were irrelevant and out of character for this type of genre and I know Ms Byrd can do much better than this.

I am a loyal fan and will always support Ms Byrd. However, as a loyal fan I am obligated to voice my opinion even when it's not positive. I have read every book written by Ms Byrd and this is not her best work!!

I gave only two stars because for a long as we waited for Quentin's story, it was finally published and that has to count for something right?

I read this book fairly quickly. I read it April 9, 2016, and was finished by April 10, 2016. The theme of the book was to follow your heart and not do foolish things because you think that you do not deserve anybody. "To her utter surprise, Quentin once again sank to his knees. Before she could wipe her tears that flowed down her face and old familiar ring was presented to her. Her old ring that she'd shipped to back to his parent's house. His grandmother Slyvia's ring." This quote is significant because he faces his fears and figured out that he did deserve true love, and he deserved her. I would recommend this book because this book was a wonderful love story and you do not want to miss out.

I have been waiting for Q’s story seems like forever and OMG it was all I expected and so much more. Ms Byrd kept me captivated with all the twist and turns of events Quentin went through on his journey to understand why is he being hunted by is brother’s wife spirit who is still alive. This story defiantly answers my question I had about Quentin’s broken heart. But still I was left with a cliff hanger ending not happy about that. The only other question I have is why does the book cover of My Unbroken Heart resemble the man on the cover of For Always by Bette Ford? Maybe they should of kept the originally cover to My Unbroken Heart

My Unbroken Heart

I've been waiting on this release for a very long time, and Adrianne did not disappoint. I'm glad that she took it back to the root of Quentin's problem, as well as kept me on my toes. This book was not like any other book I've read by this author, there was a damsel in distress, carjacking, kidnapping, house getting shot up and even more. I'm glad Quentin finally came to terms to everything, and that Elizabeth found it in her heart to forgive him. The ending of this book left me upset, but also wanting to know what's going to happen next.

Excellent.

The book was hilarious and a wonderful love story. Ms Bryd introduced a lot of cousins of the Hinton/King clan that I would love to read their stories BUT Ms Byrd was so wrong for that ending. We went through all of the King Brothers and was promised A's story and it ends on a cliffhanger. I hope we don't have to wait 3 years for it. Ms Byrd you did a great job especially in light of the adversaries you've faced, just know God is still the divine healer and He is willing and able, if you believe.

It was worth paying $9.99

So many twist and turns. I thought for sure I knew who Quinton would end up with. Just when I thought Quinton would get his happy evening the story takes another twist. I hope there will be a book about Dez and his brothers. I wasn't disappointed after waiting so long for Quinton's story.

Cliffhangers?????

I enjoyed the book. Very nail biting. So many surprises good and bad. I kind of feel sorry for Dez. As soon as Quentin sees the light, lights out. Why do we have to wait to learn the outcome? In addition, I agree with the consensus that this book was expensive to wait again for a conclusion with Quentin. The last thing I expected was a trial. Spoiler alert.
