My name is Brad Ellis. You think you know me. You don't know shit. I've been a hustler my entire life. I work three jobs to get what I want, but I'm not there yet. I live with a roommate that has been my best friend for over a decade and we make it work, but life is hard. It's always been hard, until I met Megan Walker.

Sometimes people come into your life and you think it's just for fun and games. Then they turn into one of the most important people. Don't take anyone for granted, because as soon as you do they will be gone.

I'm a cover model.
I'm a dreamer.
Never stop hustling.

Manbuns & Martinis (Drinking Book #1.5) by RL Griffin
4 stars!!

“…you’ve always been good enough Ellis. The problem is that you didn’t trust that I thought you were.”

Meat, Meat, Meat…we met this larger than life character in the first book in the Drinking Series, Sunshine and Whiskey, Meat/Brad Ellis was the male cover model that the girls met on their epic road trip. They still keep in contact and I fell in love with Meat’s carefree attitude way back then, but for all his brashness and obnoxiousness Meat was a man that really showed his vulnerable and tender side throughout this novella and this was a side I was not expecting but welcomed with open arms.

I have to admit, when it comes to humour, mine is a little weird and a lot goes over my head…maybe it is because I am British, I don’t know, but with this book I had many laugh out loud moments so RL Griffin’s dry and dirty sense of humour was not lost on me this time. While I found myself laughing with him I also found myself laughing at him such is the swing within these pages. But this novella was perfectly balanced with many laughs, a lot of swoons and even a few tears as we got to learn about the man on the cover and there is a lot more to him than you would have ever thought.

“How do you know all that? You really do have a vagina.”

I love the friendships within these pages too, this is what I have adored about this series, how friendships are treasured and nurtured and how close these people actually are. Despite their fleeting connection to Brad the girls do appear from time to time and I love their text messages to one another, you can always expect a dose of honesty and sometimes that is just what Brad needs.

“Life is interesting, sometimes the right person comes into your life at the right time and sometimes the right person has been in your life forever and you were waiting on the perfect time. The timing is never perfect, make it perfect. Make it count. Never quit hustling.”

So the cover…yes I know, I have seen the comments, tighty whities and all that, but this was tongue in cheek and I loved RL Griffin’s humour with the cover, after all we are dealing with the life and times of a book cover model. I have to say, when I first saw it I burst out laughing, getting the humour intended but I would hate for those that have been put off to miss it, so please keep in mind that good old adage “never judge a book by its cover,” after all you would miss out on a really fun novella from RL Griffin.

So all I can say is read it!! It is fun, it is a quick read but most of all it was a great insight into the man and I loved what I saw. While he has his game face, the man underneath was a sheer joy to read about and you will only end up loving him more…even though he does wear tighty whities.

I was lucky to be given an advanced copy of Manbuns & Martinis. It’s such a fun novella!

Ok. Let’s start with the cover. Yeah, I know. Don’t judge a book by its cover and all that. And I don’t. I honestly don’t. But this one. Sigh. It’s Jase. Enough said. It’s gorgeous.

So you look at the cover. Then you turn the page and read the first sentence and you know it’s going to be good. Ok. You don’t really turn the page- you swipe since you are reading on an electronic device. But you get the point. Anyway. You start reading and you know it’s going to be great. From the very first sentence to the last, I loved it.

Brad “Meat” Ellis is such a fantastic character. Yes he’s a little cocky and a little obnoxious but he’s really a sweet guy. He’s a little immature but he doesn’t mean harm. And oh my god is he funny. I was literally laughing like an idiot at some of the things he said and did. No lie. I was cracking up. I love books like that. Books that are fun and make me laugh and smile. How can you not love Brad? Seriously. He may be a bit much but he’s adorable. And under the pretty face and hot body, he is just a guy who needs to grow up and realize what and who are important to him.
Ok. Let’s talk Duncan. Brad and he are quite the pair. They have an awesome friendship and their shenanigans will crack you up. Duncan needs a book. Like ASAP. Maybe I will start bothering RL for that right now. Because seriously, it would be awesome.

So. It’s funny, it’s light, it’s awesome, and it’s enjoyable. It’s fab. You will love it. You know I wouldn’t lie to you. Go one click now and thank me later!

Oh, Meat. I knew this book would be fun, but I never seem to have expected your soft side. And I loved it—I even had a bunch of "aww" moments especially near the end. This book just isn't enough to contain Meat alone. After all, it is just a novella. There has to be more. Really. It went by too fast. But this novella is the perfect glimpse into how Brad Ellis—or Meat—lived his life the only way he knew how and ended up where he is. The lessons he learned, may it be the hard way, were so enlightening and eye opening. You think he's just about all the fun and games? Uh, no. If that's what you think, then you got this all wrong. I picked up so many good things and life advices from Meat. He can be darn stupid at times, but there's so much more to him than meets the eye.

And then there's Madison Claire. Meat's longtime friend and "fallback", as he liked to put it before. At first, I was so confused. I didn't exactly know what Mad wanted from Meat or for them both. They were sending so many mixed signals to each other that they ended up treading the waters and feeling their way into a relationship instead. Or worse, avoiding each other completely for days. But I could never blame Mad for how she went through this tough phase with Meat. It was hard because both of them have their own insecurities that hold them back. Though when the dam broke and they finally were able to see things clearer and how they really were supposed to be all along—easy peasy. I felt for Mad, really. I felt how much she was holding back, how much she wanted to demand, yet she can't because she had no right to. Damn, do you even know how that feels? No? You wouldn't want to anyway. It hurts like a mother. It's painful to the point where you feel like there's a knife stuck in your chest being twisted and twisted until everything just explodes. And goddamn, I salute Mad for holding up for that.

Ah, this book is refreshingly humorous too. I think in every other page, I found myself cracking up. And I guess in a way, I was easily able to relate to the story. Plus, there's the fact that Brad Ellis is a cover model. So if you've gone to book signings before and met cover models, you'd go gaga over those parts. Because I definitely have.

This is what I love about RL Griffin's way of writing. It's so straightforward and real and refreshing. She has tons of life lessons tucked into every corner of the books she writes. And she makes it so relatable to people, especially to avid readers like me. Needless to say, I loved Meat! And I need more of him, please. A side of martini with that sounds about phenomenal right now.

Overall, this series is about friendships. The ups and downs... The glue that stretches yet holds them together over time. The bonds with these characters is heartwarming, charming, funny... real.

I loved reading this little story about the most unlikely character to get his own story. At least to me he was the more unlikely. He's in the forefront, yet in the background at the same time. Getting in his head and seeing him up-close and personal was a treat!

This story will make you laugh, cry, smile and sigh. It's just a novella, but there is so much meat packed into this story that you don't notice the length. (<--- Haha, like all of my puns there? They totally weren't intentional.) I think as long as it's written correctly, a story like this is a guaranteed hit. A book about a cover model? Hello?!?! That alone should tell you that you are in for a wild, fun time!

If you loved Brad Ellis, aka Meat in Sunshine and whiskey, then you will absolutely love his novella.

This is a glimpse into his backstory, proving that he's not just a vacuous book cover model. There's so much more to him. He's had a tough life, with many challenges, but he's worked hard to get where's he's at now.

This book will have you laughing out loud, as you follow Brad and his best friend Duncan and the things they get up to.

Once again, R.L. Griffin, has managed to deliver yet another a brilliant story!

Remember that cover model that Sunshine met and had some spontaneous fun with in "Sunshine & Whiskey (Drinking #1)?” You know the fling with that HOTTIE, who we see on this cover as yummy Jace Dean? Your thinking…recalling…hmmmmm ohhhh yea! :D Well this is his story.

I’m not Brad Ellis, Texas A&M quarterback that had a career ending injury his sophomore year, I’m not that kid from the trailer park. I’m not the kid who didn’t graduate from college. I’m the badass who will bench more than you. I will find the monster in the gym and lift more than him, just because I can.

Continuing on…Brad “Meat” Elli is an arrogant person. He has a carefree attitude and trying to make a living in hopes to fulfill his dreams that he and his best friend, Duncan is aiming for. In this read he is coming to point (well more like finally realizing) that someone right in front of his eyes is actually more than just another person in his life.

This book was light, funny, sexy all at once and had me breezing through this read. Whether or not you have attended book signings events it will have you daydreaming and/or if feeling down in life it will have you itching for adventure. To top if off, the cover will have you sighing and swooning just to see what it is all about! ;) So what are you waiting for? Pick up a copy today! ~ Cristina, ★★★★ 4 stars

Of course I am going to read a book with Jase Dean on the cover…..and when its a cute, funny and sexy story on top of that, well then its a bonus. When I was reading this book I kept reflecting on some of the book signings I have been to and it had me cracking up. I would not call this a second chance romance, more like "Hey man so glad you got your head out of your ass and do the right thing" kind of book. And with saying that, just read the story to find out what happens !!!!!
If you want to laugh and enjoy a good short read ? Then this book is for you !!!!! LOVED IT,
WANT MORE OF MEAT :)

Oh my god! So I was a total nagging ho (sorry, not sorry) and got an ARC of this book. I abso-fn-lutely loved it. I love that we get to see the man behind the Meat, so to speak. Brad Ellis is more than just a pretty face and a wittle manbun. I love getting to know the real him- his hopes, dreams and fears. I adore that he is getting to see his wishes come true. This might be the manliest HEA ever.

I loved having the opportunity to look inside Brad "Meat" Ellis' world. It was also a pleasant surprise to get a peek into what it looks like to be a cover model at a book signing. I love the playful side of these characters. I can't wait to read what's next in this series

Brad “Meat” Ellis just doesn’t get it! He’s a cover model, a trainer, a total hottie and he’s also a bit of a hot mess when it comes to women. We first meet him in Sunshine & Whiskey (one of my favorite books, seriously, go read it) when Megan and Laura hit Vegas and it’s also where he earned the nickname Meat. This is his story, about working hard, playing hard and trying to figure out that you don’t have to be perfect to be perfect for the right person.

I had so much fun reading this book, it’s so full of laughs and heart! There is more to Ellis than just the hot body and I loved getting to see the more vulnerable side of him. He’s cocky and a bit obnoxious sometimes, but he has such a good heart. And god, he’s funny, some of the things he thinks and says just makes me laugh so hard. But at the end of the day he wants to be good enough, to prove himself to that one perfect girl who’s really always been there. Oh so much epic swoon once he figures it out.

There are wonderful friendships, cringe-worthy crazy fans, a whole lot of Instagram posts and half naked hot guys in this story and I loved every single minute of it! R.L. Griffin has created such a fantastic group of characters and I just want to go have a drink with them, even though drinking with Duncan and Ellis could be dangerous! And I just have to add, Duncan, oh yeah, I want more of his story (hint hint).

R.L. Griffin is one of my favorite authors, her books make me laugh, make me cry, sometimes break me but no matter what they touch my heart and stick with me. Manbuns & Martinis is certainly one of her lighter books, and with her fantastic sense of humor it’s a perfect addition.

“Maybe that’s the problem with waiting until something is perfect, it never is.”

“Make it count. Never quit hustling.”

We met Brad aka Meat Ellis in Sunshine and Whiskey and it just wasn't enough, so when he got his own book I can't tell you how excited I was! Meat's story will have you laughing so hard one minute and swoon the next. He will have you like putty in his hands.

Meat is obnoxious and arrogant, and his brashness is off the charts, so when he gets his own novella and shows us a different side of him, he makes you think very differently of him. Meat has the looks, but what's that saying? "Don't judge a book by it's cover?" Well it's true! RL has now giving us twice a funny book, even when she says she can't write funny and both times she has written them out the park!

Meat has hopes and dreams like everyone else but when it really hits him in the "ass" he really has to step up and choose. This is a laugh out loud, funny read. It's Hilarious!!
The antics between him and his friends will leave a smile on your face, Meat has some insecurities that weren't touch on before so with that and the way he acts we get a better understanding of him. It's a short read and you will probably will finish in one sitting but it's so worth the good feeling you will have after reading it

Ever wonder how is the live of a cover model? No? Here's your chance. Grab it!
I really enjoyed this book. From the cover, to the plot, it made me laugh and sigh quite some times.
I haven't read (yet) Sunshine & Whiskey, the first book in the Drinking series, where some of the characters already appeared, but I cant wait to read it and know more about them.

Right. So in this book, we get to know Brad Ellis story. He's a personal trainer at a gym, he's also a painter and a cover model! He's gorgeous, sexy and loves sex, (who doesn't, right?). He's friends with benefits with Mad, but the thought of her with other men makes him mad... between his appearances in book signings, the sex offers, his dog and his friend Duncan, "Meat" has a lot of things to take in consideration, his love life being the first of all.

Grab this book and spend some hours entertaining yourself with the idea of abs, oiled bodies and hot sex!

Thankfully my, super sexy, secretly sweet, lost boy has the epiphany everyone is waiting for. Until that point however, get ready for some blushing moments and serious laughs. Oh and there is some seriously legit advice in there. Like it’s good… girls, when you read this novella you should really heed it. The guy advise is really on point too. LOL. I know books are not in shortage but excellent authors that deliver gem after gem are! R.L. Griffin is just one of those authors that can take words and transform them into actual feelings that are contagious, endearing and dare I say enlightening, regardless of the genre prepare to have your socks blown. Auto buy list for SURE!

My Rating
4.5 So fun, I remember it like it was yesterday, Vodka mmm, Phones, Texts, News, Abs, Instagrams, Swipe Right, Hash tags, Lolita is never far, I will say bye for Now…But I hope to see more Meat soon!!

I enjoyed reading this novella about Brad Ellis, aka “Meat.” And as scary as it is the admit this, I didn’t know who he was because my dumbass has yet to read Sunshine and Whiskey (please don’t beat me)! But I promise at some point that I will.

But back to the book. This was very entertaining and humorous read. It’s the backstory on Meat, who is obviously in Sunshine and Whiskey. However, I can attest that if you have not read it (like my moronic self), you are still ok, it not better, reading this first. It gives you a glimpse of who is he and what goes on inside his head.

I have to say – RL does a fantastic job of writing from a male’s POV. They really aren’t hard creatures to figure out. LOL However, this book will have you laughing, wanting to smack Meat upside the head and also high-fiving Madison.

RL – I loved this and look forward to reading more from you!

OMG the funny! R.L. Griffin takes you inside the mind of a very popular book cover model, and shows you how even though they seem like it, they're more than just a hunk of...MEAT! *wink* I've never read a book that hits so close to my perception of the book community/events, but this book nailed it! From the models, Authors, readers and stalkers, she gives it all, and I loved every bit of it! If you're looking for a short and funny read, THIS is the book for you. 5 stars! (I'd give it 10 stars for the amount of laugh out loud moments if I could)

When I read Sunhine & Whiskey, I fell in love with Meat/Brad and his personality. In Manbuns & Martinis, we see the real Brad behind the pretty boy cover model. The humor, wit, and constant social media postings had me laughing because fiction imitates real life in this story.

While I really wanted Megan to end up with Meat during Sunshine & Whiskey, I see now why they had to become friends. Her involvement in Brad's life after their encounter is one of the most endearing friendships. She also calls him out on his BS.

I love R.L. Griffin. She can write humor to agony and everything in-between.

Grab Manbuns & Martinis now. Awesome, funny story by an amazing author.

Shaken, not stirred

I was gifted a copy of this book. I have to say I enjoyed it more than I thought I would. It was a fresh perspective to read a male's point of you. Especially since I am
A crazy book lover slightly obsessed with a few male cover models myself! I mean, have you even seen Nick Batemam? I digress...
So, what I liked the most is that Ellis and Duncan gives readers some insight into what male models go through to make is readers swoon. I really like the connection between Ellis and Mad. And I really liked how sweet his relationship with his sister is. I would've loved to read more.
What I didn't like, this book wasn't long enough. I wanted more!!!!
Like really, I wanted to know about Ellis's visit with Megan!

I really didn't know what to expect with this one going in. I vaguely remember reading Sunshine & Whiskey so I was intrigue as to what this story was going to be about. It was okay. I'm a sucker for best-friends-to-lovers with a hint of unrequited love so I was quite excited to read this when I first started. I guess it does has those themes but it's very minimal. This book was more about Ellis getting his sh*t together and finally starting a meaningful relationship with his best friend/f*ck buddy. Nothing more, nothing less.

Just a FYI, this book ends at 78%

This novella is so fun and had me laughing out loud so much. Meat aka Brad is a character who is too big and full of life to be contained in a novella. This is a story about how a man came to be who he was, as we first met Brad in Sunshine & Whiskey. Do not fret you can read this novella then jump into Sunshine & Whiskey if you want. This story is so fun and refreshing and i loved seeing how Brad and Megan's story developed. Very enjoyable read as always from R.L. Griffin

Hilarious!! I actually imagined it was Jase narrating the story. As a cover model groupie, myself, I totally understood all the references and couldn't agree more! I've only been to one book signing - in Vegas, no less - and I'd say it was pretty much as described in the book. (I was not one of those hands women. My hubs was with me. LOL) Crazy, crazy, crazy!! But the story was so much fun and I'm glad he got his HEA.
