The sun was just starting to peer over the Afghanistan Mountains in the distance. It would be another hot day. Using the enormous flaps and a small nudge from the control stick, Griffin, rolled the A-10 on its side and pulled back slightly to get the aircraft on the correct heading, Southwest, heading towards Sangar to act as overwatch to U.S. troops. The U.S. Marines had reported receiving fire from a strong Taliban position. It would only take about 20 minutes to get on station. Griffin could then get on with clearing the pockets of resistance; to allow the U.S. Marines to take their objective. Letting loose with his 30 mm Avenger cannon that could tear through armour and compound walls as if it was made of tissue paper. Follow the formidable A-10 ‘Hog’ into battle in Afghanistan operating as close air support to allied forces to bring peace to a troubled land.
