Rick Fuller, a once decorated SAS hero, now Manchester hit-man, likes nothing better than disposing of his employer's rivals in return for a suitcase of cash. His spectacular fall from grace and obsession to discover the identity of the IRA terrorist who gunned down his wife, all but destroyed him. Ten years have passed since that fateful day, and Ireland has seen many changes. Patrick O'Donnell, the man who slaughtered Cathy Fuller on her doorstep in Hereford in 1996 is now the First Minister of the Province, and on the face of it, a trusted and respected politician. The British Secret Service know that O'Donnell is secretly the leader of the New IRA, a group determined to re-kindle the troubles and destabilise the peace process. Not only is The Firm willing to assist Fuller and his team to assassinate O'Donnell, but will pay handsomely for the privilege. 'The Fire' is book two in the Rick Fuller Trilogy... The game is definitely back on.
Robert White is an Amazon best selling crime fiction author. His first two published novels DIRTY and THE FIX have sold over ten thousand copies and have appeared in the top ten downloaded novels in genre. Robert is an ex cop, who captures the brutality of northern British streets in his work. He combines believable characters, slick plots and vivid dialogue to immerse the reader in his fast paced story-lines. He was born in Leeds, England, the illegitimate son of a jazz musician and a factory girl. He hated school, leaving at age sixteen. He joined Lancashire Constabulary in 1980 and served for fifteen years, his specialism being Tactical Firearms. Robert then spent four years in the Middle East before returning to the UK in 2000. He now lives in Lancashire with his wife Nicola, and his Patterdale terrier dog Flash. His controversial new novel UNREST is available now.
Getting a bit predictable (assassinations, beat downs, torture, revenge, close calls, lather, rinse, repeat). But it remains entertaining especially with all the Scottish, Irish, English references and dialogue. New character, JJ, has potential. Cold blooded knife fighting Turkish special forces killing machine with a heart and a black soul. But a good mate. Lauren continues to punch above her weight class and is inching closer to an affair with Rick - if she survives.
The Fire (Rick Fuller #2) by Robert White, number 2 man what a great story, gripping, gritty no holds barred action packed romp. Lots of figuring out stuff, surprises.
I thoroughly enjoyed reading The Fire and would recommend it to anyone who likes reading exciting action books. I was captivated from start to finish. There is so much action, excitement and I felt a connection with the characters. This is the second Rick Fuller book I have read by Robert White and I was not disappointed. The first I thought was an excellent read and the second book continued where the first left off meeting all my expectations. I am now looking forward to reading the third book in this series.
Brilliant, riveting, brilliant must read. One really good plot that hopefully will prove to be even better in the 3rd & final book in the series. Read it or you'll miss out on something.
This is the second book In his series that I have read, and have just started the third and have not been disappointed, they are an exceptional read and are hard to put down. Would highly recommend, and exceptional word smith. Johnny S
I must admit I have enjoyed the two books I have read couldn't put the kindle down. Just starting the fall book #3.hope it's as good. Must say it's helping me to get through this horrible time we are all going through. Thank you amazon
The plot is decent and well thought out if a bit predictable. No real twist to the tale and all the protagonists are a bit too superhuman. However I do want to read the next one so can't be bad can IT?
The second book in this series did not disappoint. Great how the characters further developed, the storyline being developed through each’s perspective is a nice touch. The ending keeps you engaged and not able to put the book down.
I liked the writers style. First hand narrative from his protagonists. I did not like his use of a bread bun to communicate. It's a pressed switch, not a pretzel ! That said I'm now going to read book 3!
These books are amazing. Fantastic storytelling. I'm now on the 3rd in the series and it has started really well. Please, please, please, read these books. You will not be disappointed.
One of the things about Robert's books is they don't hold back - anything. Full frontal violence and attention to gory details make for a very fast-paced and action-packed read. I think THE FIRE is an excellent sequel to THE FIX while the characters (good and bad) are realistic and very scary. The story is only too believable and unlike American crime novels cuts to the quick without allowing the reader time to draw breath. Reading this book is a very up-close-and-personal experience as you get caught up in the violence in the full knowledge that Robert is showing you the very real and 'seedy' underbelly of our society. I have only one complaint, well two actually. Firstly, the story ended too quickly for me, and secondly, I don't want to wait another year for the next installment. Recommended reading for all UK crime-thriller fans.
Fab sequel to The Fix, the team are back with a bang and a new recruit J.J. a riveting thriller, I literally couldn't put it down! Fast paced and a twist I never saw coming. Brutal, realistic, stomach churning, exciting it would make a great movie. Can't wait for book three,
