Disclaimer- I didn't read this version, but I can't find the version I did. Loved this story from the get go. Been meaning to read it like forever, but spotted it on a work colleague who offered to lend it to me. So I finally had that opportunity. Brilliantly set against the backdrop of the 1920's/30's. Hungover attitudes regarding black people at that time and clever use of using young children's eyes and personalities to paint a picture of the education that the general public needed in relation to civil rights. I felt this author was a very smart woman.
