A Taste of Utopia

Rate this book
Seth Phoenix knows how it feels to have lost it all. Which is why he worked so hard to gain it all back. As one of the best male escort in the country, he has it all—money, looks, and the greatest job description: to pleasure women. He wants for nothing in life. Until one day, completely captivated by a beauty and innocence he had never seen before, he marries one of his clients.
Charlotte “Lottie” Cahan is a student at the prestigious Yale. As a self-professed geek, she wears thick glasses and her nose is always buried in a book. But on her 21st birthday, her best friend convinces her to go to Vegas for a night of fun. Despite her insecurities and unworldly innocence, at a whim, she marries a man she just met. What she doesn’t know is that this man was hired to give her 21 orgasms on her 21 birthday.
This steamy relationship seems to be destined for forever. But the world is a smaller place than they both believed and secrets, long forgotten and abandoned, will resurface to haunt them. Can they survive? Or is this fated to be just a taste of utopia?

I have found that there is only one thing better than reading, and that is writing. I am always torn between the two. I am also frequently torn between chocolate and coffee. However, I emphatically do not like the month of February, lies, and flies. For me, bravery is defined by the courage to do what we fear the most. I live in Connecticut with my husband and two children. Drop a few lines. I would love to hear from you.

A Taste of Utopia by L. Duarte was generously provided to me by the author in exchange for an honest review. This is the second book I have read by Ms. Duarte. The first being Fall Out Girl. And just as I did with the first book, I fell in love all over again with this one.

https://www.facebook.com/265326050277001/photos/pb.265326050277001.-2207520000.1452197844./655256644617271/?type=3:

Seth Phoenix is a male escort. He leads a glamorous life jet setting all over the place on his ‘dates.’ Although he loves his job, giving pleasure to women, making them happy, this job saved his life. Ten years ago he came to Las Vegas as a minor alone and with no money. Zach who is now his best friend, took pity on him, fed him, gave him a place to stay, and introduced him to his boss at Tailored Companionship. Now Seth is the most sought after escort in the country. He and Zach have also started up a business of their own which is becoming very successful, selling men’s high end undergarments.

It is Charlotte ‘Lottie’ Cahan’s 21st birthday. Her best friend Chloe has brought her to Vegas to celebrate. Lottie is a self proclaimed nerd. She lives in her books and has just graduated from Yale and is getting ready to start law school. But on this night as part of her birthday gift, Chloe has dressed her into a skin tight red dress, painted her face so she doesn’t even recognize herself in the mirror. Little did she know that Chloe has one more gift for her.

Gorgeous Rose/Red Color:

Seth was hired by someone’s friend for her 21st birthday. He is to meet them at a posh club. But when he enters the lobby of the hotel before he even goes into the club he sees her, the most beautiful woman he has ever seen with beautiful cherry lips. He feels a strange pull towards her. He’s never experienced anything like this before.

“She stands as if she’s the very star I’d been waiting all my life to emerge in the sky.”

Once in the club Seth is shocked to realize that the woman with the cherry lips from the lobby is in fact his ‘date’ for the evening. After a night of drinking, dancing and intense chemistry Lottie and Seth do something neither of them can explain, something beyond crazy, they get married!

Lottie knows nothing about Seth being a gift from Chloe. All she knows is that she has never experienced anything like this before. She vows to live in the moment and see what happens.

Seth can’t believe he is married! But Lottie has an effect on him he can’t understand. He can’t get enough of her. He feels like a teenager. So he’s not ready to let her go. He wants to see where this goes. Try to understand this connection he feels with her.

“It’s as if I dreamt of you my entire life. And now I get to touch that dream.”

"It’s like I existed all these years with the beating of my heart suspended. Then you came along and startled it into motion.”

couple in waterfall - Google Search:

These two together burn up the pages. There relationship is crazy hot. But it’s more than that. They awaken something in each other long dormant. Seth thinks his past before he came to Vegas is long gone but there is a shocking connection that will bring back everything Seth worked so hard to hide. Will this be the thread that finally breaks them apart?

“In the few days we’ve been together, Seth has made me look at myself through his eyes. And I swear I like what I see. It’s wanton, sultry, alluring.”

https://www.facebook.com/265326050277001/photos/pb.265326050277001.-2207520000.1452197844./650257711783831/?type=3:

This book was amazing. I could not stop reading. Although it can be read as a stand alone, the impact would be much greater if you read Fall Out Girl first. Then you will meet Seth before he comes to Vegas and you will love him even more. But, even without reading Fall Out Girl first, this book is still just fantastic. I loved it. I loved these two together. And I absolutely adored the epilogue. It’s just what I needed for perfect closure. I’m so glad I read this book and hope you’ll give it a chance as well.

4 In a Moment It All Happens Stars * * * *
I think I have always been a Romantic...Looking back at my parents and the way they acted with each other...They were romantics, too. There is something to be said for having your "feet on the ground... taking everything with a grain of salt" and any other cliche you want to throw in there...Meaning, being a bit of a cynic is good...stepping back and evaluating what you are seeing or experiencing is smart... especially in today's climate with so many ways to be taken advantage of...

But there is something very powerful..in being open to possibilities...to recognize moments of meaning when they are happening...and being willing to see what they mean.

This book has all of this and more. It has the premise of two people in a moment, connecting....and then being brave enough to see what it all means; was it just a night of passion or was it a beginning of a re-awakening for one and a discovery of new things for the other.

It is mixed with past histories coming into play out of the blue, misunderstandings with serious consequences and then leaps of faith to test those involved.

There is also some sensual and very sexy times shared between these characters which will have you taking notes for good measure.

L. Durate created these people who embark on a journey... and in the end, we also learn the lessons, too. As this self- proclaimed Romantic, I was so pleased to have had this refresher course in the essence of Love.

photo aac01a9cef35de86016c0c4baabac2_zpslgpygqlv.gif Being a male escort is a tough job, but somebody has to do it.”

It's the first day of 2016 and A Taste of Utopia is the first book to ring in the New Year!!!!! And let me just say that I am absolutely smitten with this book and found myself a new author to stalk. L. Duarte, you have my complete and undivided attention now. As a hopeless romantic at heart, Ms. Duarte has managed to set my heart racing with A Taste of Utopia.

So when I first read the blurb, a male escort and a self-professed innocent geek, who happens to be a virgin fall in LOVE, I was immediately sold. And from the first page of the prologue to the very last page, Ms. Duarte had me devouring this book in one sitting. L.Duarte will be capturing the hearts of any romance aficionados as she showcases a couple who were meant to meet, fall in love and have their lives intertwined.

photo aac01a9cef35de86016c0c4baabac2_zpslgpygqlv.gif SEX IS MY domain. I play a woman’s body like a neurosurgeon works a scalpel, calm and deliberate. However, there’s an urgency to the way I desire Lottie. A desperation. I want to fuck her with the same eagerness a martyr is ready to die for his cause. This raw attraction hums through my body with full-blown intensity. It’s overpowering.”

Do you believe in fate? Do you believe you can fall in love with a person and know within just one kiss that this person is "the one"? The one person who will set your racing. The one who without a doubt will change your life. The game changer. Well in the case for Seth Phoenix, he knew from the moment that he laid his eyes on on Charlotte “Lottie” Cahan, that she was the one.

#ATasteofUtopia

Charlotte is in Vegas to celebrate her 21st birthday. A recent graduate from the prestigious YALE University, Charlotte considers herself a geek and innocent. So while in Vegas with her best friend, Chloe she decides to finally let loose and maybe cash in some orgasms...well to be more exact lose her virginity. But what Charlotte isn't aware of is that Chloe had hired a male escort to give her endlesss amount of orgasms. And as it turns out, Seth was the male escort to grant and fulfill Lotte's birthday wishes. But what happens when, Seth doesn't want to be just a male escort and wants to be the guy for Lotte. And what happens when Seth and Lotte decides to get married in Vegas, will he be able to tell Lotte that he is a male escort? How will Lotte's parents react to this spur of the moment marriage? Can a male escort and a virgin fall in love with each other less than a week? How can something so wrong feel so right?

photo aac01a9cef35de86016c0c4baabac2_zpslgpygqlv.gif And I fall. And he catches me. And he falls. And I catch him. And we spiral downward in a kaleidoscope of tangled bodies, intertwined souls, screams of release and the rapture of pleasure.”

A Taste of Utopia by L. Duarte was the perfect book to kick off my 2016 book calendar. It had everything I was looking for in a sweet romance. The hero, Seth was an absolute gem. He didn't have an ego that I would normally expect to find in a male escort but was truly a genuine soul. He was kind, understanding, and had such a big heart. Usually, I am apprehensive on the insta-lust/love romance but Ms. Duarte wrote A Taste of Utopia perfectly. She was able to incorporate an emotional journey and personal growth for both Seth and Lotte, that you could understood why they fell in love with each other so fast. They had the kind of love that knocks them off their feet. It is the kind of love that reminds us all that we meet thousands of people, and then you meet the one person, and your life is changed forever. And for Seth and Lotte.. it was about taking that chance to really fall...and fall in love they did.

So if you are looking for a book that was the perfect blend of friendship, love, and sacrifices, then I highly urge you to read A Taste of Utopia. Thank you, Ms. Duarte for writing a sweet book that was brimming with so much passion and heart.

When I picked this up I wasn't convinced that the author could make me love a male escort. But of course now I'm eating my words because she did.

"Sex is my domain. I play a woman's body like a neurosurgeon works a scalpel, calm and deliberate."

I adored Seth. He'd been broken for so long that he'd shut himself off from anything real. When Lottie comes along she really knocks him for six, causing him to question everything he was feeling.

"It's like I existed all these years with the beating of my heart suspended. Then you came along and startled it into motion."

It didn't take me long to change my mind about him; one when I realised who he was from Fall Out Girl and two with how he was with Lottie.

I didn't love this as much as Fall Out Girl; that book blew me away, this one was more of a strong gust. In parts the writing was a bit pretentious; example -

"A bone-deep charge of sensorial lushness permeates through my body as if it had just been struck by a lightning bolt of pleasure."
-in other words he had an orgasm.

"I begin a pilgrimage, searching for nirvana." - he's thrusting in her pussy.

For me sometimes an apple is just an apple, a dick is just a dick; you get my meaning I'm sure. The writing rather than the story was just a little over dramatic at times. Aside from that I enjoyed it. It wasn't the typical male slut deflowers virgin stuff, it had a bit of grit to it.

And while you can read this as a standalone, it will have more impact if you read Fall Out Girl first.

☆ I received an ARC via the author in exchange for an honest review. Thank you!! ☆

This is my second swing at this author, and I have to say that I really enjoyed this story!

Albeit, when I first read the plot synopsis, it sounded a bit cliche, but in the end it captivated me and kept me enthralled from start to beginning.

A sweet, easy romance!

4.5 STARS!

I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

“Something about her tugs at my heart, a magnetic pull of sorts.”

Seth loses it all. Including himself. But buries his loneliness in his job of pleasuring women. He has no other goals, but to make money and live life. Until he sets his eyes on Charlotte (Lottie) Cahan. He’s drawn to her. So when destiny places them together at the right time, they make a huge decision that changes everything.

“In order to preserve my soul, I relinquished pieces of me.”

When Seth and Lottie embark on this journey together, they are scared, but something just feels right. They feel right. You ever feel you’re missing something in life? Your soul is bleak and dark? Their journey to love is moving, emotional, funny, beautiful. Despite how they came to be, it’s real.

“Can you feel it? Can you feel my heart beating? Because ever since I saw you under that consolation, I have felt every fucking beat of my heart.”

Seth is a broken soul, but he finds healing in Lottie. Despite how undeserving he feels about love, he wants to hold on to it as long as he can. He loves with conviction. His heart is so big and so full. Seth loves with honesty and fearlessness. How amazing is it to be loved by someone as deeply and relentlessly as Seth loves Lottie. And Lottie? She loves Seth beyond reason. Her love is light.

“God, I’ll take whatever you feel. Even if it’s just a sparkle. I’ll flame it to life.”

A Taste Of Utopia is a compelling story about two people that never knew love could exist for them until they found each other. While the synopsis makes it seem that these two fall instantly in love. That is not the case. There is an immediate connection, but there is so much more. Their pasts have made them the people they are today. It has affected them. Molded them. Their past is what has brought them together by fate. And fate? It’s magic. And so are Lottie and Seth. You know the moment where you can’t breathe? When you’re in a room and you only see one person. That is Lottie and Seth. Completely. Two lost souls finally make their way home.

“It’s like I existed all these years with the beating of my heart suspended. Then you came along and started it in motion.”

This story has a unique storyline and is much deeper than you could imagine. This story is fascinating and the author flawlessly brings her reader directly into the heart of her characters. Secrets are revealed. You understand the rash decision that Lottie and Seth make. You see that their hearts outweighed their minds. The writing is gripping and I found myself easily lost in the story. The author has a true talent in writing beautifully flawed characters that love deeply and wholeheartedly.

“Seth has just seared through my soul and rooted in the most hidden place of my heart. A secret place we reserve for the unique soul that belongs to us.”

A Taste Of Utopia attests to the fact that love knows no time. Love doesn’t care about circumstances. It just is. I suggest you make no preconceptions about this book. It is multilayered and the author is truly talented in putting her own spin on love stories that you can never find anywhere else. This was an unconventional love story. But it is theirs.

German review to come on my blog

„Love has to be unconditional or it’s not love at all“

„A Taste of Utopia“ is different then L. Duartes other books. Sexier and more easygoing; a quick and enjoyable read.

Seth has a difficult past. It wasn’t easy to square Seth with the boy I met in „Fall Out Girl“. Because now he’s all grown up; shaped by his past and with a successful career. And of course sexy as hell. But his night with Lottie was something special. Unfamiliar feelings he didn’t know. The trouble that followed was obvious, he's a male escort after all.

Lottie was shy but really nice. I liked her. Since their first meeting she was smitten with Seth. Her innocent aura could appear outdated for some people but it was refreshing. At first I didn’t know who her father was, so it was an unexpected but really clever turn.

I thought Seths and Lotties wedding was a tad hasty (and Seths reason a little bit selfish), but that’s Vegas, baby (and of course there was a lot of booze too). But I loved Lunas appearance and the fact, that Seth came to terms with his past. Lottie evolved too, she became more self-confident and stronger. So it was a journey for both of them and in the end they find the way to themselves and learn that love can conquer all.

There were lots of hot sex scenes (no objections though! ;) ). But because of them I missed the full linguistic potential; the poetic diction of the author. The self-reflective and gut-wrenching moments of the characters; the . That’s my personal complaint, but well, maybe I’m biased because I’m still overwhelmed by „Fall Out Girl“.

„And love that is complete and unconditional never dies or withers. It just lives on in the chambers of our hearts.“

Wow! Just wow!
This book was freaking amazing. I got an email a few weeks ago from L. Duarte and it said when you have time.
Well I read this book in less than two hours. I was completely in grossed in this book and couldn't put it down.
Seth is a male escort who takes amazing care of his body and he knows his ways around a woman body. But there is so much more to him then we think. He made a huge sacrifice for someone he loved very much and it has haunted him for over ten years.
Charlotte is a super cute dorky young woman who has everything going for herself. Then on her 21st birthday she meets or shall I say runs into Seth and well both of their world's get turned upside down.
Now call me geeky and corny but this book is exactly what I needed to read. I was starting to doubt love and finding the one....then I laid in my bed and started to read this book.
This book is beautiful, amazing, sexy, and hot as hell, and crazy romantic. Every words in this book will have you feeling certain ways. I like to pick books apart when I read them....put myself in the characters shoes.
So with all my rambling, please go and get this book. It is amazing and I freaking loved every second of it. Just to seat back and read someone's journey of discovering love is outstanding/breathtaking. Hell as much as I love me some Seth and trust me I want to steal him from Lottie....but I couldn't do that. These two characters are prefect for each other. They both have learned so much from one another.
I do hope that one day we will get a small piece of them again....because these two characters are amazing.

L. Duarte thank you from the bottom of my heart for wanting me to read yet another one of your masterpieces. I swear it is as if you know exactly what I need to read before I even do. I truly needed this book in my life at this very moment. So thank you! Bravo and well done.

ARC copy received in exchange for an honest review
When I was approached to read this book I jumped on it because that synopsis just called out to me. It's one of those stories where I feel like the synopsis does a great job of telling you what you need to know about the premise of the plot before you really get started so I won't talk too much about that.
What I will do is talk to you about the more that this one gave me. I completely devoured this one in a one sitting read.

The main part of the story opens in Vegas on Charlotte's 21st birthday...
What happens in Vegas stays in Vegas right?
Wrong.
What is supposed to be a carefree night transforms into something off the pages of the romance books Charlotte is a big fan of.

Full of the sexy, A Taste Of Utopia also brings a stark contrast in the form of the past that Seth has buried away. When he lays eyes on Lottie, everything begins to change and the past that he has left behind somehow seems to catch up with him. It's these glimpses of the vulnerable Seth that I adored most throughout the story.

I was able to just fully enjoy myself with this story, so much so that I was pleasantly surprised by some of the twists that came my way. I can say without a doubt that I found this to be fun and enjoyable. It was a love story with all the fun of Vegas backdrop with the foundation of imperfect realism.

I am giving A TASTE OF UTOPIA 4 Cherry Flavored Stars!

It's been a while since I actually picked up a book, so finding this advanced copy in my e-mail was a pleasant surprise. To be honest, I dint even read the blurb. I saw it was from Mrs. Duarte, and I dove right in. This book is steamy more so than her last books. I really enjoyed readying both characters points of view. You can't help but feel strongly about the characters and root for them. I was so happy when I caught on to the story. I had a huge smile on my face when I put two and two together. I was so heart broken with Fallout Girl that this book made it so much better.:) so glad I read it and you should read it too. Let that be your New Years resolution. Awesome book. Awesome read.

A Taste of Utopia by L. Duarte

**3 Out Of 5 Stars**
Reviewed by Christine

A Taste of Utopia I thought this book was very good overall. I loved the authors writing style and I enjoyed Seth and Lottie as characters and watching them grow overall as a couple and the idea of the story touching upon male escorts, something I dont find often in books Ive read. I did feel like the story as whole was rushed towards the ending and didn't wrap up as nicely as I would have liked. I felt like the story left me hanging and wishing there was more to the story. I know there is another book which talks more about Seth as a character and I would recommend reading that one first ( I did not read it myself, but felt maybe if I had I would have liked this story more as I would have enjoyed the characters more) I definitely would like to read more from the author overall as I did enjoy the writing style and concept of the story. I look forward to checking out this author more in the future and seeing what else they have written overall.

After reading the blurb I just knew I would love this book!

It's the story of Lottie and Seth but it's not your typical love story.
Seth is hired by Lotties besty Chloe to give Lottie 21 orgasms for her 21st birthday. Though Chloe doesn't realise how truly naive Lottie secretly is so plans do not go according to the plan.

For both Seth and Lottie there's an instant connection. The chemistry between them is undeniable but there is major obstacles in their way, especially given Lottie has no clue of Seths true profession. Although he knows he will have to eventually tell her the truth, Seth doesn't want to rock the boat or hurt Lottie after he decides it's definitely worth fighting to stay with her.

A trip to meet Lotties family brings up some major secrets Seth has been hiding from for over a decade and everything begins to unravel for the pair. The question is, will he be able to convince Lottie he's worth fighting for and make her realise he was only keeping her in the dark from fear.

This is a brilliant book.

Okay, so where do I start. First, I love this author and the more I read her books, I find she is just getting better and better. I enjoyed Fall Out girl and you will find some of the characters coming back in this book, but I won’t go into too much detail about that, because I don’t want to give away some very good stuff.

Lu, I love how you told Seth’s story. I did not see that coming. His has a Vegas marriage and some misunderstandings that will pave the way for the rocky relationship between him and his one night stand, Lottie, who is celebrating her 21st birthday. I got the romance in this story and it was well written as always. Seth’s story is heartbreaking, but he got a great HEA.

It helps to read Fall Out Girl, it will make this book better for you. I recommend it.

A TASTE of utopia is the first book by this author I have read. I was not left disappointed.
We start the story in the pass and then get introduced to Seth Phoenix escort for hire. Enter Chloe who hires him for her best friends 21st birthday to give her 21 orgasms. Charlotte or Lottie as she is known to her friends first spots Seth in the lobby of a hotel also sporting a nightclub. This begins the start of a whirlwind adventure for these two.

We have our ups and downs and learn more about Seth and Lottie as we go along. Lottie opens up more personally as the story goes along but the one question that remains during almost the whole story is will Lottie find out what Seth does or will it stay a secret

Very beautiful story.

Didn't know what to expect from this... Imagine marrying someone who you only knew for a few hours? Then finding out he has a lot of demons in his closest.

Really felt for Seth <3

It just goes to show, that love can be very over powering and make you complete in many ways.

If you like anything by Kirsty Moseley and Nicholas Sparks I would recommend this.

A Taste of Utopia – L Duarte – 5 Stars
Once again I have enjoyed this story by L Duarte. It’s a story of Redemption, Insta-Love, Self-Discovery, Growth and Acceptance.
…”love that is complete and unconditional never dies or withers. It just lives on in the chambers of our heart. When you decide to love someone, love despite the cracks and dents, despite the stains and imperfections. Just love, because it will endure it all.”
The definition of Utopia is: an imagined place or state of things in which everything is perfect. Key word being “imagined” because not everything is always as it seems. Especially in the small small world we live in.
Seth Phoenix is someone who overcame his past by creating a new life. A life that has many facets and secrets. He is willing to work through the layers of a woman to get to the good stuff. Lottie Cahan is a 21 year old who studies hard and is a self-admitted nerd with a loving family. Lottie is not a “Barbie doll beauty” and while gleaning with confidence, at times feels shy and self-conscious. One fabulous night Seth and Lottie meet. They have an un-forgetful evening that changes their lives forever.
This is going to be a no spoiler review so, as with my previous L Duarte review, I’m going to talk about the high points of what I liked about this book.
The way L Duarte writes is poetry “Emotions I don’t recall ever feeling are carving a place inside my chest. These feelings are like corn kernels bursting open when heated. They tumble and bump over one another in a fast and unorderly series of pops. A cosmic explosion of feelings. And my chest is expanding, swelling to accommodate them after all”.
I like how not everything is as it seems. Life is not all neat and tied up on a pink bow. It can be messy and heartbreaking and challenging.
Taste of Utopia has a tie in to L Duarte’s previous book Fall Out Girl but is a standalone that stands on its own merit.

A Taste of Utopia by L Duarte is a great, romantic book, full of surprises. Cant wait to read more by this author!
Seth Phoenix had a rough start in life, but has reinvented himself as a male escort, and is at the top of his game. He is one of the best at what he does, gets paid to have sex, as well as travel all over the world with his clients, and makes great money doing it. He is happy with his life, and sees no need in changing things. That is until he sees Lottie, and feels something change at first sight. He doesnt know it yet, but she is his client for the night, and she will change his world, more than he can imagine.
Charlotte, Lottie, Cahan has just turned 21, and is about to start law school. For her birthday, her best friend takes her to Vegas, to the hotel/nightclub her father owns. Without Lottie's knowledge, she has hired a escort for her best friend, to give her the ultimate night to remember. She doesnt know he was hired, and thinks they just hit it off. One drink leads to many, and the two end up getting married. Is this the worst of the best decision of her life??
This book alternates views between Lottie and Seth. I love stories like this, because you can see the story unfold from both their perspectives. The book had a few too many graphic sex scenes for my liking, but I am glad I kept reading. It was an "eh" book for me, until about half way through. Then something is revealed, and got me HOOKED. I didnt want to put it down after that point, and the story comes around full circle making everything click perfectly. I wish the author spent more time on the events of the second half, than the first half, but overall, I loved the book, and give it 5 stars! I love that what started out as a sexual attraction, turns into so much more, and has such a happy ending. I cant give away any spoilers, so just read it yourself!!

A Taste of Utopia by Luciana Duarte blows you away! I cried and I laughed and I cried and I could not fall asleep as the images I got in my head while reading the book refused to leave me … You are amazing, I am humbled by your talent of creating characters that resonant so much with one that it is so hard to let them go!
This story is not an easy or light romantic read, it is beautiful, amazing, steamy and romantic with some really heavy baggage that BOTH of the main characters carry with them. They are PERFECT for each other, they balance each other out, they enable each other to express the sides they have suppressed or that they think they have no right for …. It is a journey to discovering what love means to one, how a completely broken person can be put back together when they meet the right person and when they open themselves up to the possibility of love … We will meet again Luna and Caleb and Caleb’s parents from Fall Out Girl here but it is not continuation of their story!
I have always been drawn to words and the emotions and images they evoke and I am telling that after having read two books by Ms Duarte that are linked with each other, she is a master with words! You have no choice but keep reading as you are caught in the net from the first page on and you know that there is no escape until you have reached the last page …
Do yourself a favor and read this book, you will not regret the time you will use for it, it will make you to appreciate your life or it makes you to re-evaluate your life, you will NOT walk away from it untouched!

Amazing book

A taste of Utopia is a great read by L. Duarte. It’s an easy read that keeps you guessing on what will happen next. There were several parts of the book I wasn’t expecting but the parts were a great surprise and when you get it all put together it even makes the story that much better. Lottie is a young lady that has always excelled in life and doesn’t take it for granted. Her best friend and she are in Vegas for her birthday. Her friend hires a male escort for her birthday present because she has never had a good sexual experience. Seth who is the one that was hired first saw her from across the room and instantly felt a connection to this lady who he hadn’t even see her face. He changed his way of thinking immediately because he was supposed to be working and didn’t have time for the distraction. Little did Seth know a little later he would be seeing the lady he was to be entertaining for the evening. Lottie and Seth were drinking and having a good time when they end up back in her room but when they were getting down to business she stops and tells him the story of how she wanted to wait until she got married. Without even thinking about it he asks Lottie to marry him and she agrees. Can this attraction make it through all the lies? This is a great story of how small the world really is and that there really is love at first sight.

A Taste of Utopia by L. Duarte

5 out of 5 stars
This can be a read as a standalone but I have to say you need to read fall out girl first.

This isn’t the first book or the last book I have read by Ms. Duarte. Her writing gets better with each story she writes. The author flawlessly brings her readers directly into the heart of her characters. We get to see some of our friends from fall out girl and what they were up too.
Seth Phoenix aka Jake knows how it feels to have lost it all.

But on her 21st birthday, her best friend Chloe convinces her to go to Vegas for a night of fun. Despite her insecurities and unworldly innocence, at a whim, she marries a man she just met. What she doesn’t know is that this man was hired to give her 21 orgasms on her 21 birthday.

Seth can’t believe his eyes the beauty who completely captivated him is his client.

This steamy relationship seems to be destined for forever. But the world is a smaller place than they both believed and secrets, long forgotten and abandoned, will resurface to haunt them. Can they survive the dark secrets from their past? Will they have a happily ever after?
And I absolutely adored the epilogue and I highly recommend this book.

A Taste of Utopia is a beautiful insta-love story by L. Duarte. When I read the blurb, I was a little worried that it would be a little bit of a cliché, but I was wrong. It is quite different as Ms. Duarte has put her unique spin on it, and it’s loaded with her delectable detailing.
Seth Phoenix had come to Vegas lost, broken, and alone- wanting desperately to escape every bad decision he’d ever made and have a fresh start. He was willing to sacrifice and work hard, to make something of himself and to pay his way in life.
He is now very successful, has all the comforts that anyone could want in life- while leading an enviable, jet set lifestyle. You see, Seth is the most successful and popular male escort in the country. Earning mega bucks for his ‘services’. He loves what he does- uncomplicated sex with gorgeous women, who pay him to be with them. He prides himself on the quality of his ‘work’ and his ability to pleasure a woman.
He is gorgeous, with a sexy body, a panty melting grin and had a natural charisma that could charm the birds out of the trees. But in a lot of ways Seth is hiding behind his job and the sex, using it as an excuse for not seeking real intimacy, bonding and companionship- it’s all a façade, with no possibility of developing any kind of fulfilling, long-term relationship.
Charlotte Cahan (Lottie) is in Vegas to celebrate her 21st birthday with her best friend Chloe. The self-proclaimed nerd has taken her nose out of her books and has promised her friend, that for just this once she will let her hair down, live in the moment and be wild for one night.
Seth has been hired by a woman as a ‘birthday present’ her best friend’s 21st Birthday. He walks in the hotel where he needs to meet his ‘client’ and is immediately captivated by the most gorgeous woman he’s ever seen, dressed in a tiny, wispy red dress with incredibly sexy, cherry red lips. For a moment he forgets where he is and why he’s there- as his mind tries frantically to process this powerful attraction. He comes to his senses and realises that he has a job to do and must abandon any interest in this goddess and go to meet his client. Imagine his surprise when the ‘client’ turns out to be the ‘Goddess’ who took his breath away.
You wouldn’t think that one night could completely change life as they knew it, but this one meeting will be the biggest game changer for both of them. A night of dancing, drinking and volcanically hot chemistry, ends with a walk down the aisle. What happens when they wake in the morning and the reality of their situations slaps them in the face? Have they both just made the biggest mistake of their lives? Or is this the best thing that could happen to them? What happens when secrets come to light and the past comes back to haunt them? Will it bring them closer together or drive them apart? Do they stand a chance of making this work?
As expected from Ms. Duarte, this is a delightful, well written story- that’s full of emotional, moving or funny scenes- as well as some very erotic moments. The characters are really wonderful and I fell in love with them in all their beautifully quirky, flawed glory. I found that the dialogue was a little too ‘poetic’ or ‘flowery’ in places, for my tastes- but didn’t detract from the overall feel and impact of the story.
The book has a great pace, was quick and easy to read. I read it in a day. It is a standalone, although I would recommend that you read Fall out Girl first, as you get some vital information in that book, that will help you better understand a few of the characters in this story. I really loved the epilogue and how the author wrapped up the story.
I recommend this book to anyone who loves a charming, heartfelt and entirely beautiful story; it will definitely stamp itself on your heart.

Thank you Ms. Duarte!

Seth’s life had changed dramatically in the last ten years. He loved his cousin Luna but he had decided she was better off without him in her life. Now he was alone in the world with no one to love him. That was until the day he saw Zach and decided to rob him so he could get something hot to eat. Zach could see that Seth was in the same place that he once had been so he took him home to help him get e better life, they have been best friends since that night. In his past life, Seth was known as Jake, but he was presumed dead in a house fire along with his mother. This was the day he decided that Luna was better off without him.

Teens years have passed and with his new identity Seth was working as a male escort and making more money that he had ever seen in his life. Also, he and Zach had started an intimate male underwear business which was also now going well for the both. Seth thought his life was going great, that is until the night Chloe booked him for her best friend Lottie as a birthday present. Seth spotted Lottie in the foyer of the hotel they were at and he was quite taken by her in a way he had never been with any other woman. Annoyed that he was here to work, he went to he was meeting his client and couldn’t be any happier to find it was the beautiful woman e=he had just seen. There was an instant attraction between the both and when Lottie couldn’t sleep with Seth as she wanted to be married as a virgin he asked her to marry him and she surprised herself by saying yes… After all what could go wrong they had an instant attraction.

Lottie’s family were not happy about the surprise wedding since they didn’t even know she was seeing someone. It didn’t take long to win over her mother and grandparents but her father was a different story. Lottie’s father was a judge the same judge keeping Caleb and Luna apart using him as the bait. After dinner Lottie said she was tired and went to bed, Lottie’s father asked Seth to come and have a chat with him. Seth wasn’t stupid he knew Lottie’s father was putting on an act as if he liked him and was waiting for her father to say what he really wanted to say. On finding out Lottie and Seth had married her father had Seth investigated and from that he found out that Chloe had hired him for his daughter, he knew that Seth was a male escort and knew about his and Zach’s underwear business. Seth told his father-in-law to get to the point and was told if he didn’t leave Lottie he would tell Lottie everything and ruin his business. Seth asked for five minutes to say good bye to Lottie as she deserved at least that, he was told your time starts now.

Seth woke Lottie up asking her to trust him and come with him now. They left the beach house and stayed in a house on an island for two days. The night they arrived Lottie asked for one more night in case what he had to tell her broke them up, of course Seth was not going to say no to her. The following day Seth told her everything about his life from the time he was Jake to him now being Seth and the fact he was a male escort. He also told her that from the time he met her he knew his days as a male escort were over and that he loved her. Lottie needed time to think all the information over and decided that she could not do this and was going to end the relationship that is until she saw his face. She told him she was going to try and make this relationship work and that she loved him as he loved her. Going back to the beach house there was no way Seth was going to put Lottie in the firing line of her father and told her to go pack while he spoke to her father. Over hearing her father say he was going to ruin him and tell Luna that he was alive Lottie went into his office and told him that he was going to no such thing. Her father didn’t let up until she showed him she had evidence that he had had an affair with a sixteen-year-old and that she was Caleb’s girlfriend at the time.

Twelve months later Caleb is going to see his cousin, he is worried that she will hate him and not want him around her and her family. But when she sees him she can’t help but go to him and hug him, she couldn’t believe that she was looking in to the eyes of her very loved cousin, before they went into her house he stopped her and told her he loved his Luna Moon.

A Taste of Utopia written by L. Duarte

This book ended up being so much more than I expected. Shorty after I started I could tell it would be full of emotions and not just what was on the surface of Jake aka Seth’s profession. This story has tenacity, perseverance, selflessness, love, determination, friendship, loyalty, heartache, deceit, secrets, forgiveness and understanding.

“MOST PEOPLE CELEBRATE their birthdays. Not me. I celebrate the anniversary of my death. That’s the date I did the one noble act of my shallow life: I died.”

Jake grew up living a life no child should endure. His only happy memories are of his cousin Luna. Jake sacrificed everything to make sure Luna didn't have to suffer, because he was in her life. Years later he becomes a professional escort. He also co-owns His Secret with his best friend, roommate and savior Zach. He gets paid to make others fantasies come true. Seth is financially successful, has a closet full of the best designers clothes, expensive cars, beautiful home, travels the world and stays at luxury resorts. Yet, he is always filling someone else's pleasure not his own.

Lottie will be celebrating her twenty first birthday in Vegas. Her best friend Chloe set up a night she will never forget. She has no idea that her friend has hired an escort. While they are in the lobby of the Constellation Club she meets eyes with a face she knows she will never forget.

“Mindlessly, I stroll across the lobby. And that’s when I see her...My body comes to a halt. Then my mind, my heart, even the air surrounding me seems to come to a standstill...I haven’t seen her face yet, but it doesn’t matter. Something about her tugs at my heart, a magnetic pull of sorts... She’s breathtakingly beautiful. A shy smile blooms on her cherry lips. There’s no pretense in her face. It’s pure and sincere and wildly demure. Her gaze casts down, and her alabaster skin turns an adorable shade of pink...Finally, my heart lurches back into gear and I resume breathing. I offer my two-thousand-dollar-an-hour smile and wink at her. My feet, as if disconnected from my brain, take a few steps in her direction. Then the memory of who I am, and what I’m doing here, rolls into my head like a bulldozer...For the first time in years, I resent what I do for a living. I must be delusional to think I can act like the typical nine-to-five person. Sobering my mind, I shake off the urgent desire to approach her. I plunge back into my reality and stride away. I enter the gilded elevator that will take me to the nightclub where I’ll meet my client...Kissing those cherry lips isn’t on tonight’s schedule.”

Their night ends up being one neither of them will forget, because it turns into their wedding night. Once they wake and the alcohol fog wears off they reminisce about what happened the night before. They decide it will be their secret until social media gets in the way and their wedding picture reaches Lottie's family.

Lottie and Jake decide they need to play the charade of being happily married before they announce a divorce. During this time they both secretly wonder if maybe it wasn't a mistake and they are destined to be together. Lottie's father is not on board with the elopement and is going to make sure that the secrets he digs up cause a wedge between them.

Will Seth’s past be the end of this short marriage? Will Lottie be able to forgive her friend Chloe for putting Seth in her life? Can Seth let go of the success of being the best professional escort and dedicate himself to his wife? When the past catches up with Seth will he be forgiven?

“Love is the fairy dust that makes the world go round.”

Oh my hot, steamy, loving, goodness! This book literally rocked my world. I was actually depressed, still am, that it was done when I read the last page. In fact, I do believe that the word Utopia and its very definition is a most fitting and divine use in the title. Utopia; An imagined place or state of things in which everything is perfect. This was indeed a perfect book. We meet the hot and ‘talented’ Seth Phoenix. He has life all figured out, the best of the best all at his disposal. Of course, until he meets Lottie merely by a moment of fate. Or is it? Both of them have secrets they have been shouldering their entire lives and this very ‘relationship’ they are about to enter threatens to expose both of their dark ugly secrets. In fact, early on in the book Lottie divulges this much… “Most people have a slew of secrets. Not me. I have two. In my entire life I have managed to collect to secrets. They both haunt me daily. On is the lame lie of having had sex. The other… Well the other’s too dark. It has the power to cloak my family in darkness. So I avoid thinking about it.” Seth has not kept all his secrets so close to his vest. In fact, he is rather proud of the title of the most ‘sought after male escort’. That is, till he seems to break a few of his rules and winds up married to Lottie. Who might I add thinks the same of Seth… “Seth is like, perfect. God he’s every book boyfriend we’ve ever read conjured into one. You know, like Chrisitian Grey, mysterious as Edward McCullen, alluring as Mr.Darcy.” It’s the perfect fairytale till utopia becomes reality and life and lives past catch up to both Seth and Lottie. There is the perfect amount of suspense, humor, catastrophes and of course love throughout the book. After all love is the fairy dust that makes the world go round. I would highly recommend that you read either before or after this one Fall Out Girl by L. Duarte. The lightbulb moments will be worth it alone and what is even better is if you get both of them at the same time you will have one when the other ends and you feel like you have a massive book hangover!
